I have been using this method at night for one week. It is making my skin drier and really flaky : ( I am going to cut back on the % of castor oil and quit the ABS in the mornings. I am giving this at least one more week to see if my skin stops flaking after making modifications. Who would have thought that it oil drys my skin out. lol

Hi everyone,

After being frustrated by the chemical content of my regular face wash, and after reading many reviews I decided to try the oil cleansing method. My mix was 50% Olive Oil 50% Castor with three drops Lavender. I washed with the oils twice a day and used a warm wet compress to open my pores and remove the excess oil.

After a week I noticed a big improvement in my scarring. I saw pimples disappear and my skin actually started to glow. Unfortunately, it didn't last. Around the third week I developed cystic acne (something I had never had before.) At first I told myself that my skin was detoxifying but the pimples and cysts kept appearing. My chin was actually oozing oil. It didn't calm down until I went back to traditional cleansers / benzoyl peroxide.

I'm 27 and I look much worse than I did as a teenager. My chin is covered in red marks and I still have some cysts. (A month out!) I know this method has gotten rave reviews, but to me it's not worth it. All of the benefits come early and then are cancelled out when the OCM wreaks its havok.

Beware.

I've been trying this for the past two weeks or so, and I've been having similar problems. I make sure to massage the oil in for a long time, and although this has done wonders for my blackheads, I am now getting more zits.

Hey,

Thank you for putting this post together. it was very informative. I am very intrigued. is it easy to find some of those ingredient to try? I have never even seen some of those oils that you've mentioned, where could I find those?

Carrier/Fixed oils:

Flax Seed oil

Hazelnut oil

Neem oil

Perilla Seed oil

Seabuckthorn Berry oil

Watermelon Seed oil

Would the wholefood market be a good place to start?

So a mixture of castor oil and EVOO to wash wouldn't leave my skin oily after?

Hey,

I bought the castor oil and jojoba, and I mixed the two in shower...it was so thick that I had to use a cleanser to wash it off afterwards...am I doing it wrong? Could you help me please, it would be highly appreciated it.

You can find it at vitamin shoppe. they have everything--castor, jojoba, flax seed, grapeseed, vit. e oil etc.

try them or whole foods market

Sorry, I only read the first page, so sorry if this has already been covered, but which brand of castor oil do you use? Are they all the same? I looked online and there are so many brands...

Same with the jojoba oil, too. Which brand?

Has anyone heard of putting castor oil on at night and washing when you wake up? Not sure which way I should do this.

castor oil is really thick by it's self, you probably won't like it... and leaving on a high consintration of castor oil will probably dry your skin out.

I personally use a creamy cleanser that I make with 70% Sunflower seed oil and 30% Castor oil

Hey guys! I'm really surprised that not that many people have posted here and that there are only 16 pages when this is the break through and leading thread about the OCM!

I'm going through supplements, a new skincare range and I'm low on cash reserves at the moment but I just spent a whole day researching about the OCM and it's amazing!

I'm trying it out in a month so I will keep you posted! Has anyone in 2009/2010 had any good results and are there any recommendations about products we should stay clear from and which ones we should get!

Barnabas, where are you?!

I tried this for a while and it broke me out SO badly. I was trying alone and in combos: castor oil, jojoba oil, and grapeseed oil over the course of a few months. I kept waiting for things to get better but... It was a disaster and my skin ended up the worst it has ever been in my entire life. Yikes! I am sure this works for some people on their faces, but not for this girl, unfortunately.

As a plus, I have been adding my leftover jojoba and grapeseed oil to my poof with my body wash in the morning, and my skin has never been so soft in my entire life. I have never made it through a winter without flaky, ashey white legs, and rough elbows, but now that i have been mixing these oils with my body wash my skin is like silk! It also makes body hair really soft and easy to shave. Irritated armpits from shaving are gone.

I have tried jojoba and grapeseed oil for removing eye makeup, and i prefer grapeseed oil for it. I get the tip of a Q-tip saturated, then gently rub away the makeup, leaving a little grapeseed oil there for some eye moisturizing. As long as i don't get oil on my t-zone i am fine. I have mixed some in with my favorite hand lotion! Love it!

I also have long hair, so i use the oils on the ends with conditioner in the mornings - just be careful not to get on your scalp for everyday use, because it leaves my hair looking sorta greasy if i do this.

All i'm saying is, this is worth a try but beware, and if it doesn't work for you, there are still a million uses for these oils!!

Hi i'm new to this forum i'm 18 and male. I've tried the OCM for about 2 months and it has been working ok but i just had an average breakout on parts of my forehead chin and cheek and have had a couple of minor breakouts lately so i've cut down alot on oily and sugary foods. Most nights i use 50/50 Castor oil and Jajoba oil but have stopped using EVOO for i don't know what reason. i have also been using cucumber and lemon juice on my scars and leave it on at night to help them fade. I don't use the washcloth but just jump in the shower and massage instead. I was wondering if i am using the right oils for my age and the right ratio? i was also wondering if maybe the lemon juice and cucumber somehow caused a bad reaction with the oils to make me breakout. I am also tempted to go to a dermatologist to see what they can do because i've had enough with these pimples. thanks

last night i added a bit of tea tree oil but seemed to dry my skin so will only add a few drops next time. Also might try eucalyptus oil if tea tree oil doesn't work.

TEA TREE OIL has been in my products for years and it hasn't worked. Guess it's just me or the tea tree isn't concentrated or good quality enough.

* NOTE: When buying essential oils PLEASE make sure you're not paying like $1 for them because they are expensive to make. Make sure you buy organic or 100% pure and read them carefully (place or origin, ingredients, etc) because there are alot of fakes and ones that use essence's only instead of actual essential oils derived from the source.

It's too expensive for me as I want to buy about 5 and experiment with them. I'm out of money on all the crazy supplements I've been buying but please keep us updated guys :)

You mights want to do some research and start soft like using them in spray toners (water+a few drops of essential oil) or steaming yourself with some oils instead of rubbing it into your skin. Also leave out jojoba, castor, olive oil and as I said, start soft because alot of people break out.

Just relaying the information I've been told :)

I was pretty excited to try this. I've been using this for about a month though, and I didn't see any difference. I don't know if my acne got worse, or better. I've been using coconut oil with castor oil and tea tree oil. All organic/ pure. It does make my skin softer without needing a moisturizer, but my skin is still flaky.

I'll keep trying since it isn't breaking me out, but I'm having doubts.

On the bright side, it does feel good. And coconut oil is yummy!

Has anyone used this for just oily skin (w/o acne, save for maybe the occassional pimple) and consistently had good results--i.e., a marked reduction in facial oil? Or does it eventually and inevitably lead to breaking out, regardless of one's previous lack of acne trouble?

Thanks

@ flyinsoup and anyone with "just oily skin (w/o acne, save for maybe the occassional pimple)",

DO NOT TRY THIS!

If you have generally clear skin, like I do, you do not want to take the risk of breaking out. I made the mistake of being dissatisfied and wanted perfect skin (ie no oil and no milia) and decided to try OCM.

i used a blend of apricot oil and grapeseed oil from Silk Naturals. The first week was great. I could feel plugs coming out. Then about two weeks later I started breaking out. I took a break and continued one month later when the zits cleared up. But then I started breaking out worst than before and now I have a huge cyst on one cheek as we speak.

This is really me being greedy and wanting to up my skincare routine a notch.

So if you already have generally pimple-less skin, only go down this route if you are okay with the risk of a break-out. If you're willing to take the risk, then go ahead. At least after the experiment, you will know whether it works or not.

I will never try OCM again. The remaining oil will be used to remove eye makeup.

Thanks for the great info on the OCM. I have a question because I tried this for about 3 days. I used 50/50 of evoo and castor oil and followed your instructions for doing the method. But my mom noticed that my skin looked dull and didn't have a radiance to it. I have senstive and combo skin: dry on the cheeks and oily on my T-zone. I stopped using it after that but I'm considering trying it again using lighter oils because you mentioned testing out different oils to see which combination works best. Also, I think my skin was too senstive for the oils, evoo is heavy compared to other oils. The thing is I wasn't experiencing dried out skin, in fact my cheeks felt moisturized and wasn't flaky (like usual). After I dropped using the OCM, my forehead broke out with 2 pimples. I really don't want to abandon the OCM right away but I'm just wondering if you know why my skin got so dull after using it. Thanks (: and sorry for the long post.

Hi Barnabas,

I have an olive oil soap. It's just saponified olive oil. Would that work instead of castor oil?

Thanks,

Maria
