well i have been using the c and c combination, it seems to work well, i live in canada, so can only get 5%.......besides that, i have been taking
100 mg of B6 with 50 mg of zinc, once a day.....im not sure how much it helps, but i noticed i have less oil than i used to....possibly it could be due to c and c...or maybe it is zinc and B6?..
I have been on this routine for about four days, and I had a major breakout yesterday. I got this huge pimple on my cheek and a whole bunce of little ones around my mouth and chin, and a bunch on my forehead to. Do you think this is just bringing up the gunk, or is this not the regiment for me. How long did you people see results in and did anyone else have a breakout afterward? Thanks!
Puma - I'm having the same problems, i'm getting lots and lots of smaller sized zits all over my face. I've been using this regime for a week and i'm going to continue using it until the bottles are empty. I hope everything is just coming up to the surface. I read somewhere that it takes about 3 weeks for a zit to go through it's entire life. Anyway, wish me luck and good luck to you
I did the C&C routine for 1 week and had the worst brake out of my life. I know it was from the C&C because I only brake out on my chin and this broke out my cheeks and lip as well. It also dryed my face out horribly, I got rid of it and used my Plexion and it all went away. I know this routine has worked for many people, but for me it did not. If you keep braking out from this then it is too hard on your skin, it's not for everyone....
Dont give it up just because of the break out. When i started doing it, my skin looked and felt good a few days. Then i broke out horribly. I kept with it and after a few more days, my face looked great again, so i think it was just stuff coming up. It still looks great and is getting better every day.

I had some stubborn blackheads that I'd hoped I could clear with this regimen. However, not everything works for everybody and I think the mineral oil in one of these products just irritated the crap out of my skin. I got three pimples in four days and my face's been clear for a few years now. I've just been working on the scars/redmarks, etc.
So I was really bummed cause I noticed that this regimen made my face FEEL so friggen soft!! I loved the way it felt, but it didn't work for me. I went back on Dan's regimen to clear up the three zits and two are now almost completely gone. The last one's fading fast.
i think holydiver has a point. you may or may not have an initial reaction depending on your skin i guess. i would stick with it more than like 1 week though. that really doesn't give it time to work. the exfoliation and pore clearing properties don't really get good until after a few weeks. once the SA clears your pores out, the BP works better, and you keep using the SA wash and it keeps the pores clean.
i am still completely amazed by the regimen. i am not kidding you in the least when i say NOTHING has worked since i got acne in my early teens. ten years of acne with nothing to help it.
when i started using this regimen, it took a little while for me to become completely clear. i stuck with it. like.. at first i noticed it helped my skin stay clearer (but not all the way at first).. i liked the fact that so many people talk about in this thread.. that i makes your skin feel so smooth, soft and clean.
so anyways, i stuck with it for 3-4 weeks, and i noticed i was getting really clear. i just thought it was luck really. around the third or fourth week, i got a few new ones (maybe 3-4) and was a little frustrated at that. i think it's cause i got really sunburned a week or two earlier.
i have stuck with it through the thick and the thin, being completely religious about it. i have not missed a wash since i started the regimen. there is not a single mark on my face, and there hasn't been one for quite a while. completely unprecedented for me. i still cannot even believe it. i feel so much better about myself.
and i'm not just recommending these products after trying them for 3 days and thinking they're good. i have been using these two together for months, with sustained results. it's not just a fluke. previous to this, i have used the BP wash for nearly 2 years.
i'm really sorry to hear that it has made some of you break out in the beginning.. but i think like the others have said, it goes away and the products begin to work. maybe not for everyone, but tons of people seem to have had good success with the products. i just wanted everyone to give them a solid try (a month minimum).. and then decide. like, seriously, if one person has success with it, i'm happy. the more people that have good results with it i am happier. when people have bad results i feel bad for recommending it. as with everything, there's good and there's bad. for some it's a godsend, for others it makes them break out.. but i don't know how many people have stuck with it that had an initial breakout.. i'm guessing not many.

I think quite a few more have stuck it out past the initial breakout period than you might imagine, Botchla. And I think it's helping more and more people every day considering how this thread is growing and the products that you've recommended are readily available to most. So I think it's a great thing that you shared what worked for you on this site. That's what we all need to do....because not everything works for everyone.
The thing with me is that it cause three pretty large cyst type pimples on my chin.....and I seldom break out there....so I think since I've been using mostly natural, botanical cleansers, etc. on my skin.....my skin is not used to the harshness of regular facial washes, etc. I can't even use most store-bought moisturizers cause they break me out too.....I use just natural oils with a few EO's added.
And when you're finally clear for such a long period of time like I've been.....you don't want to use something that's gonna cause breakouts just to clear a few stubborn blackheads. It just doesn't make sense. But if I had heard of your regimen before going on Accutane, I probably WOULD have stuck it out past the initial breakout period. Cause this stuff makes your skin feel great. It really does. And I'm glad its working for so many.
oh yeah.. i mean if your skin was clear to begin with, no sense in doing this really. you can get rid of blackheads in other ways. this regimen is for those who are still having problems with active breakouts. also, i do not know how effective it is in treating more severe or cystic acne, as mine was not extremely bad to begin with. (it wasn't extremely good, either though)
you're right, i think maybe if you've not been using the normal products for a while, this could be irritating. like me, personally, i've been using BP and SA products for the past 10 years.. my skin is pretty much used to whatever i can throw at it..
silent_night: after i wash the SA wash off, i immediately go into putting the BP wash on while my face is still wet from the other. after i get done with both, then is when i pat dry my face. good luck with it!
Ok now it's been approx. 3 weeks since starting this regimine and I must say that I'm impressed. I'm 98% clear. Since it's colder now though, I only use the regimine once a day versus twice. My skin started to get a little dry. Not nearly as bad as when I was using the Purpose/BP combo. In the morning I use Carley's Clean and Clear soap and use the C&C products at night. During the day I just wash my face with normal water. And for those breaking out after starting this, I just wanted to let you know that the same thing happened to me too. As many people mentioned, it may be the SA bringing up the ones that were buried deep down. While nothing works all the time for everyone, I'd say give it 3-4 weeks before you completely give up. If you're drying out a lot, cut down to using it once a day or once every other day. I still use BP on the spot on those extra stubborn ones and works well with the C&C products. Finally after spending God knows how much money, found somthing that works for me, and it's very affordable.

Yes, definitely give it some time. I know it's difficult to keep using something in the fear that it may make you worse, but most effective acne medications will cause you to break out. Think if everybody who initially broke out on accutane would just give up on it. I'm as guilty as anybody when it comes to giving up. When I was younger (much younger) I gave up on many things without giving them an opportunity to work.
I've been using these two products for about 3 weeks now. I suffered a mild breakout after 2 weeks (about 4 or 5 small pimples), but kept using it. I've always had a problem with blackheads so I'm guessing this stuff is finally coming to the surface. It seems to be getting better every day now.
I agree with Botchla that this is more of a good maintenance routine for those who have mild to moderate acne. If you have cystic acne you'll probably need to do something more drastic like acccutane to clear it up. Good luck!
Botchla thanx for sharing this regime.
It has cleared me better than Dan's regime, but I still have some active acne after 3 weeks.
My question is can I use the C&C products in the morning and use Dan's regime at night? would that help me get rid completely of the active acne or is that a dumb idea?
Anybody tried doing this?
THANX!
I've only been using this regimen for 3 or 4 days but it's going pretty good. I'm pretty clear and when I do get a small blackhead or whitehead I notice they're going away quicker than when I didn't use anything. I also like the way my skin feels.
I can't wait to see how well it does in the long-term. I need to be more consistent with it too. Sometimes I only use it once a day.
I would stop with the routine if it is causing you to brake out. I was on it exactly one week and my face was braking out so bad (in places it never broke out before) this routine is not for everyone. I noticed a couple days after I stopped it and changed cleansers it cleared up. Sounds as if this is hard on your sensitive skin.
Hey, I'm still using this regimen and it seems to be going well. I don't want to jinx it, so I'll report again in a week or two.
Just wondering, Botchla or anyone else who uses it: How much do you use with one washing, and how long does it take you to go through one bottle of each? It's not really easy for me to get to a drugstore, but I don't want to cut back too much and breakout again. Any input would be helpful! Thanks!
I use about from the tip of my index finger to a little after the first joint going towards the palm for the blackhead wash. I use about 3/4 that of the continuous control. But when I wash I leave it on for about a minute and a half. You might not want to do this the first couple times but for me I got used to it, and I feel it increases it's effectiveness because when i took it off after about 30 sec. i still got some zits. And this is 2x a day (when i wake up and b4 bed)
I also leave it on for more than 30 seconds. If you have the time, I'd say leave each thing on for at least 3 minutes. That is, once your skin is used to it, or you may irritate your skin.
In reply to some other posts, no single regimen will work for every single person. If after a few weeks it doesn't help, you'll probably want to try something else (maybe Dan's regimen!).
3 minutes? wow.. now that would really dry out my skin badly.
as for how long the products last me, a tube of the BP wash lasts forever, probably 2 months. the SA clearing scrub goes quicker, that lasts usually about a month. this last tube i'm finishing up now has lasted about 3 weeks, maybe plus a few days. and i have a couple more days left in the tube, so i would say anywhere from 3-4 weeks depending on how much you use.. and that is using it twice a day.
