I've been on this regimen for 2mths, I had some clearing up at one point but am still breaking out. I must have about 10 new zits right now. Anyway My skin has no doubt aged (and I moisturize everyday!) So since not only is my skin aging but also continues to break out I have decided to stop this regimen. I've started using something much more gentler and hope it will work.
This regimen seems to work for many which is great for those that it has worked for as for me I'm in the search for what will work for me.
Well, I am another person who has had great results with this regime. Bochla ~ thanks.
From reading through many of these posts in this Enormous thread (I couldn't possibly read through it all - phew), I think perhaps that this regime is more likely suitable to those with mild-moderate acne, like myself.
The blackheads practically started jumping out of my nose after only a few days!
The funny thing is I've been using SA products for many years but after 16 yrs of acne (i'm 30) I think i became lax with the time spent washing - maybe 10/20 secs. Since reading Bochla's outline of the regime I've now started making sure I wash for a full 45secs to a minute. Much better results.
I also drink water with half a lemon squeezed in it at the start of each day, and take a multi-vitamin and fish oil capsules about every 2nd day.
So that's me, adding another positive result to this thread...
Hmm, using BP and SA makes so much sense.
Another thing I like is that they are both washes and not stuff you leave on your face.
I have used Clean & Clear SA Blackhead clearing liquid overnight for a few months and been happy with it but would prefer "wearing" no topicals at all lol
Just an update.
I have been on this regimen for a little over 4 weeks now. I can say with confidence at this point that it truly is keeping me clear. About a week and half into using this regimen I was afflicted with the good ole' initial breakout. It wasn't bad, 3-4 zits, all of it but some minor redness was gone in 4 days or so. It makes sense because zits apparently are "formed" way before they reach your face, so the regimen obviously takes time to work.
For the purpose of dryness (especially since it's winter here in the US) I have been using only SA in the morning, and SA+BP at night. The only time I altered this is when I had the breakout, I felt I needed the extra BP. To further help dryness and to help my damn skin exfoliate a little (supposedly the SA wash exfoliates too) I use Eucerin Daily Renewal moisturizer at night. It's a great product, but with the way my face is it makes my face look a bit shined and greased up. And just for comparison, I have wayyyyyy less dryness and flakes on this regimen that what I had on a straight BP regimen (I used Dan's, etc).
Some other tips I have found helpful is to massage the cleansers gently on to your face, let them sit on your face for a moment, then proceed to wash it off gently. I generally leave the SA on 30 sec and the BP for 45 sec or so. I guess it could be coincidence, but it seemed to help me.
I also occasionally use some of Dan's BP for spot treatments. Thankfully I am at the point where I haven't needed much, but using some on traditional trouble spots of yours should be fine as long as you SPOT treat them! If doing this, you obviously want to use more moisturizer.
The last thing I do, and this is sorta not relevant, but I have been using these masques from Saint Helene once or twice a week (particularly the Mint Julep Acne, Clay, Egg Yolk). They are supposed to help with shrinking pores, acne a little, and just be a cheap facial. They are $3.00 for a decent sized tube.
I am basically at the point where I am going to work hard to continue to keep my acne at bay, work on improving the texture of my face, and reduce redness from old acne. Good luck to everyone!
jalrus, I'm mostly clear, with just a bunch of blackheads (which i have over my face, back and chest; same with closed comedones, which I expect to take a few weeks, and only 1 inflamed closed pimple on my forehead which has started going down quickly on this regime (3 days now). Remember I only had mild but persistent acne (face, back and chest). I also use 2.5% BP as a spot treatment on inflamed zits only.
I used to have worse acne 5+ yrs ago, but using the birth control pill, Diane has helped alot, though not removed it entirely. At 30yrs old I'm hoping that when I'm ready to have kids in about 3yrs time, and I have to go off Diane, this regime will continue to maintain my skin well, as well as the chance that I'll be starting to grow out of it some time soon (hopefully).
Hope that helps,
Pinky
Hi, i am new in the forum. But I started Dan's regimen in early August 04. It clears me up for 95%. Lately, after browsing like crazy in this board, I added a couple of things. I am now 100% clear. Before August, my face was FULL OF ACNE, all kinds!!!! Now i'm so happy.
What I did was adding Delna's method with baking soda, ACV, egg-white lemon mask into Dan's regimen to fade red marks. I have quite a lot of them from old pimples. I started it 2 weeks ago. It's really good.
Now after reading the huge thread about Botchla's regimen, i can't help but wanna switch to it because of the inconvenience in Dans, even though it's very effective. So I bought 2 CnC things to do Botchla's regimen yesterday, and started it last night. And today too. I guess it's working good on me. I can't tell exactly because I'm new with this regimen, but my face feels good.
Anyway, i'm acne free now, but i'm scared that they would come back if I stop fighting. So I'm still doing everything. I have a little bit of time now, so I do Dans in the morning (with very thin layer of BP 2.5%), Botchlas at night, together with Delnas. I will be very busy in two weeks, so I'm trying to do evething now to get good clear skin. By then I will just stick with Botchlas and, hopefully Delnas mask because it's great...
I have 2 concerns that I like to ask you guys:
1. I am suffering from WRINKLES in my forehead, a lot of them, the down side of Dans or any high dose of BP usage. How to deal with that? Any suggestions? Someone said BP does not age skin, but I am experiencing it though I ALWAYS have moisturizer with SPF (30 or 15). So it must be it.
2. How to fit egg-white lemon mask in Botchlas at night? Two CnC washes should be back to back, so should the egg-white mask be before or after washes? If after, then maybe the BP wash will loose effects?! If before then maybe Vitamin A in egg-white to repair my skin (BIG HOPE) will be gone? Brief, what do you think/know about egg-white mask? To clean? Firm skin? Reverse aged skin? Reduce oil? Etc. I LOVE the mask. But don't know how to fit it in with Botchla.
Thanks to Dan, Botchla and Delna for great regimen. I benefit a lit everywhere, I think.
Thanks to all replies if any.
day 5 came and went....
dry at night but when i wake up i seem to be normal again.Skin looks ok, defiantly better than 2 weeks ago, so this is workign just slowly. Nothing new in the inflamed pimple catagories, clog pores look the same, maybe slightly better. Very oily during day. Anyone on botchlas get very oily, and what did you do>?
I am just amazed and delighted at how many blackheads and comedomes I've lost on the 2 C&C products after only 4 days! I've never seen anything like it! I think the pores on my nose are even shrinking!
I think I have figured out why this regime is working so fast on me ~ I had one session of microdermabrasion about 2 wks ago; it probably took off a couple of dead layers of skin, really prepping the area for C&C to work very efficiently from the get-go. Mind you, I also have many blocked pores on my back which are responding well to this treatment, and I only had the microdermabrasion on my face, so the products are still the main reason I'm happy.
We only have the 5% BP C&C Cleanser here in Australia, but I'm pretty happy with the gentleness of it. On the topic of BP and aging - I have been using BP leave-on creams (2.5%, 5% and 10%) for the past 7yrs since I was about 23yo and haven't had any aging effects but I naturally have quite oily skin, and my Mother aged very well. I haven't noticed any acceleration of aging at all, and I live in a country where sunburn is a regular experience.
Perhaps those people with thin, dryish skin do age more rapidly and BP does accelerate this... I don't know. I have quite thick, oily skin; it's fairly hardy, I guess.
If anything, Jalrus, I think my oiliness has reduced *slightly* on this regime, but then I've been drinking lemon water every morning for the past week, and supposedly that helps a little bit.
Anyway,
that's me for now....

I'm new here, I've been trying to read this massive thread. I bought the 2 clean and clear products this morning. I was amazed at how my face felt afterwards. There must be something happening, that's some strong stuff! I have been on Dan's regimen for 2 weeks or so and the drying was very bad. My face felt like leather. I know it would lessen after I continued to use it, but I thought I'd give this a shot. I've been fighting acne for years now, and it's really got me down recently, I hope this regimen does the trick once and for all.
erpatter...i wish you the best...keep us posted onyour progress
pinky...im glad to hear its working so well for you..dont get to clear and leavethe boards!

Well I woke up today as dry as can be. But 90% of those annoying papules are now whiteheads or decreased in size by 1/2! I'm convinced this is not going to take long to clear up at all at this rate. Thank You!
Hi Catty, yes it does. Unfortunately it does work but it does kill bacteria and weakens the skin as I have three wrinkles on the right side of my forehead where I used to break out and that is where I would put the BP! Check this website to read about the side effects of BP....www.skintactix.com they have a lot of interesting info.
Day 9, just finished night routine but i left the blackhead scrub out tonite. I am extremely dry everywhere! I am happy that im not getting many spots, only a few everyday opposed to lots. Myclogged pores look about 20% better. The scrub doesnt dry me out at all, but i remember jade saying he stopped it for a few days and saw some results. I got a huge cyst on my chin brewing. Is this the initial breakout? god i hope things get better before xmas.
hi jalrus,
I'm on day 8 now. I've had a few small pimples crop up in places where i don't normally get them - my neck. Haven't had any there for ages, nearly years i would say. So perhaps this is my initial breakout?
I'm still positive and happy about results. My skin feels smooth and soft. I would estimate that it would take about 6-8wks to see truly 100% clear skin with my level of mild/moderate acne.

I'm on day 4 here. Thing are looking good. The papules have decreased in size. I did have a pretty nasty initial breakout. I had some whiteheads on my cheeks which I have not seen in years. Also my papules aer turning to whiteheads on my jawline which I have not been able to get rid of for the longest time. I'm very optimistic about this approach hopefully in a week I'll be 90% clear.
