The best cure for acne is definitely a combination of BP and salicylic acid, so the person who started this thread is righ to target.

I found this out by reading a quote by the "father" of Retin A, famous dermatologist Dr. Kligman, and he said the best, most effective over the counter acne treatment without a prescription was a combination of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. I never forgot that.

Then in the November 2004 issue (last month's issue) of Prevention magazine, there was a great article on acne. One dermatologist said an effective non-presecription acne treatment is to use two topicals together: 10% benzoyl peroxide with 2% salicylic acid.

You've gotta have patience, but this stuff really works! Just experiment with different brands and products, but do use a combination of the two!

Well, I've been on this regimen for almost 2 weeks now and right off the bat my skin was fantastic. Right now though I have some zits on my chin and above my mouth. Like all of us starting with this program, hopefully it's just the initial breakout. I have about half left of the C&C washes so it's pretty economical at least.

after reading so many comments on this thread, i had to just go out and try this regimen. i've tried many OTC products and also have come to hate neutrogena products as well. But i am excited to starting this so i hope all goes well.

UPDATE: After i applied both of the products and left them on and rinsed and patted my face dry. My forehead ( i have combo skin) still felt a little bit oily. And i usually don't have oily skin and the other cleanser i used before (Alphy hydrox) wasn't a really drying product either. Maybe my skin isn't used to cream cleansers?

So after my distressed post last week my skin is starting to look a lot better! No new spots in the last few days and I've added a few things into the regime - apple cider vinegar for the red marks and the clean and clear treatment lotion stuff. Thanks to the comforting posts from people!

Hello,

I was recently on Retin A for about 5 weeks.

I quit using retin A due to how it was making my face look scarish and oily and I heard some awful stuff about it.

Anyways I quit and started botchulas regimen.

My face looks sooo great! within just a few days! Not only have I noticed the difference but also family and friends are noticing a difference in my skin.

Also my skins so soft and my makeup has a great finish to it.

Thanks for posting this!

After having I guess what would be called an initial breakout after 2 weeks of being clear on this regimen, my skin is looking a lot better again. The initial breakout wasn't bad, like 3 smallish zits, but it was frustratingly sudden. Anyways things healed relatively fast.

The only modification I have made to this regimen is that if I see a problem area I will dab a small bit of Dan's BP lotion on it before I go to bed. Also once or twice a week I have been using the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. It's the one that is for acne, but it also great if you have no blemishes as it's a "minor facial" so to speak.

Good luck.

well today is my third day on botchla's regimen and my forehead is sorta red and just a little bit swelling. I don't know if this is supposed to happen. It is also itchy so i'm gonna put some lotion on in a little bit. Should i keep going, i'm just afraid i'll ruin my skin...

today is my 2nd day on the regimen after experiencing no results from previous medications...since i have acne around my mouth and jawline i figure if i break out there it won't be that much different from what i have already. hopefully this will work. fingers crossed.

i've decided to stop this regimen because my forehead is red and itcy. at first i thought it would go away but now i have decided it must be some sort of allergic reaction because my eyelids are starting to really itch and getting puffy. oh well.

ok well im almost through my first tube of the BP gel and im still breaking out although it is like 50% better maybe. im thinking of adding eryacne (topical antibiotic gel) to my routine at night to make sure i kill all the bugs but i dont know how it all works with BP. maybe the BP kills the antibiotic so it doesnt work i dunno. any advice? it seems like this is nice and all but i really think i need something to give me that final kick. also in hind site i notice that when i was using oxy pads (2% SA in a pad that you wipe your face with) it seemed to help alot, or even just washing my face with water every hour or two, makes me think that my main problem is exfoliation. perhaps i should consider using the SA more often? im already up to 3 times a day, basically every 5-6 hours i use the SA and then the BP. perhaps just use the SA and bp as often as i can but just not use alot of it? im at a loss right now and im kinda down about it. i dont want to use the straight BP gel because that shit destroys everything it touches, dries my face out, ruins my clothes, my hair. also ive noticed no real drying effects from using the BP and SA 3 times a day so far. perhaps just using it all the time plus using the eryacne antibiotic at night might finally do me the trick.

thoughts?

cheers,

adrian

also to be clear on something, im using the canadian version of the C&C BP Wash which is only 5% could this be a reason why its not working so well?

would switching to the american 10 % BP Wash have a significant difference?

ive been on this regimen for a week and a half or so. I started doing it using sa 2 times a day and bp twice. Now i only use the bp once at night and sa 3 times a day, i also take 4g of B5 a day, and i seem to be cleared up, at least for now- who knows how long it will last.

I am basically on a regimen like this, except i use basis bar soap instead of the C&C clenser. It is working great so far. I only have one or two active pimples, but tons of redmarks. I plan on trying the C&C clenser once my basis runs out.

started this regimen last night, both washes and then agian this morning both washes. im keeping a journal to see how my progress goes. ONE DIFFERence is im using neutrogena cleanser/mask which is bp 3.5. I like many others, absolutly hate neutrogena but as of last week ive tried this one wash and im break out free. im on botchlas now becuase my face is covered in clogged pores(flesh colored bumps). I did botchlas almost one year ago and the first 3 weeks were incediblei looked so good 98% cleat then i started getting to dry with the C C 10% wash and bam!! i got tons of bumps over the next month along with a forehead wrinkle. So here i am again after a year of no sucess, with every other regimen.Hopefully this will work.

Does everyone here whos done botchlas regemine really think the C&C continuos control, is truly continuos. I mean the ingredients are the same as many otc products, how do they ever explain how the bp supposedly stays in the pore. It is so clearly a marketing ploy, im so shocked no one here has ever questioned this.

yeah it would most likely be way too harsh, I'm using Differin as well, but it seems to be helpin me, so I'm not starting the regimen....yet , but good luck!

I basically used retin-a with the C&C 10% BP cleaner in the shower once a day.

The trick was that I let my system get used to retin-a for nearly 2 months before I started using the C&C with it.

I use retin-a at night (does the same thing SA does - causes extreme exfoliation), and then I apply the BP cleanser in the shower in the morning every day.

I also switched from 0.1% retin-a to a lower dose of 0.025% retin-a so that the BP cleanser wouldn't cause as much irritation.

Without the BP, retin-a is only 50-80% effective, but with the BP it works a heck of alot better.

I also use a moisturizer in the morning after getting out of the shower - (DML facial lotion - spf25).

I'm not sure if this helps anyone, but to avoid irritation (which can cause even more zits) I applied the BP cleanser in the shower every OTHER day at first. After a week I started to use it more.

Skin is 99.99% clear, where as before either one of these medications my skin would break out constantly. I never had nodular cystic acne, but I have been on accutane once before, several years ago. The results I get now are better than what I had on accutane (albeit, the accutane was for back acne)

I love the retin-a because it causes such extreme exfoliation. If you have a break out, 2 days later your face has literally gone through an entire peel, and the marks are completely gone.

Hope this helps anyone in my same boat, as this may be applicable to differen gel as well.

-Eric

Ive been using this clean and clear system for a long while now - it must be over 3 months at least ! Anyway overall ive been very happy with it although ive been stressed out about the ageing effects of BP.

Lately im getting alot of tiny little pimples across my cheeks - but the weather is getting hotter and ive been eating soooo much junk food and also had quite alot of makeovers - so all these germy makeup artists touching me hasnt helped!

ANYWAY biggest concern - i think that this routine has aged my skin.

I dunno what to do. If i stop = acne. If i continue = ageing skin !!!

Has anyone else noticed more lines around their eyes and forehead ?

Does BP really age your skin?

I've NEVER heard of this before!

Yes i usedthis regimen a year ago, and am absolutly positive it caused my forehead to get a deep wrinkle. Im only 19 for gods sake. The bp cleanser is ridiculously harsh and the wrinkle still hasnt faded, after 1 year!

all people age at different times...

Also its hard to say wether your skin may or may not have aged that way with or without BP. In addition acne makes you more aware at your skin, you will notice changes more.

Maceintheeyes.....

day 3:

last night i used the recomended c&c continuous control wash, felt good no dryness.

This morning used just the SA. Im gonna do botchlas to the 'T'. Initial breakout is still pulling little tiny whiteheads to surface, no other spots, clogged pores looked a little better.
