I didn't read all of the replies, but I would like to make one comment on this regimen and my experiences with it. Please note the same old rule: everything works differently for everyone.
1. SA makes sense. You need to exfoliate. But for some reason I could never adapt to it. It always makes me break out.
2. The C&C BP cleanser is bad for 2 reasons: A) It's chuck full of so many irritants. Menthol? Yeah, and it's strong as heck. And what is this I see? Mineral Oil? It contains something no acne product should: oil. That is right, it is not oil free. I used it for a week and had pimples in places I have never had pimples before.
Mineral Oils has a zero comendgenic ratiing, which is mentioned in the post a few times. As for SA, I breakout too no matter what/ how long. I'm darker skinned and I cant remember where I read it, but it can cause too much exfol hence blocking pores. I even tried it once a day for over three weeks, but I still had the same reaction. I have tried SA four times all with same reaction, and it sucks..
saying that you're NOT a salesman makes you SOUND LIKE A SALESMAN. i dont trust this post
How could he possibly be a salesman? He's using two products made by a huge corporation. They don't need someone to come here to pick up sales. The amount of people here is not enough to even make a dent in their business. Not only that, he doesn't post any links except for ones that describe the products and again, they are for a large business and also do not need his help.
Hey guys...it's Day4. It's shrinking my existing acne but I've noticed ever since I started using it I have gotten a couple of small bumps this morning...that will probably change into zits. I think it might be from this regimen but I am also using vinegar (Im not very consistent w/ it) so I hope its an 'initial breakout' and that its not the vinegar. (the vinegar I use is very diluted) how long do u have to endure this before everything finally stops coming up. Anyone?
I really am very happy with this regimen so far. I have been using it since July1 and I have really seen an improvement with my skin. I love both the SA and the BP washes. I use the SA in the morning and night and the BP only at night. I'm not dry at all. I'll have to see how I do when I get my period next month because that's when I break out the worst, hormonal acne on my chin, those under the skin awful painful bumps. Since I've been using Botchla's regimen, i haven't had any cystic acne and only a few very small pimples. I haven't been this clear in sooooo long. I couldn't be happier!!!
I bought the Clean and Clear blackhead clearing CLEANSER..
they did not have a scub.. yet the tube looks identical to the one in the picture.. and has basically the same ingredients... It says "New" on the bottle.. so im guessing they phased out the old "scrub" and have the new "cleanser".
or am i wrong?

Thanks for the info, and I'll look that up for supporting claims. But, still, I wasn't about to read 48 pages! 48 + replies that can be several pages themselves is too much for late night light reading.
Here is something I found:
Q. Is mineral oil comedogenic?
A. Mineral oil is one of the most common ingredients in skincare products and colored cosmetics. It is a lightweight inexpensive oil that is odorless and tasteless. One of the common concerns regarding the use of mineral oil is its presence on several lists of comedogenic substances. These comedogenic lists were developed many years ago, yet remain frequently quoted in the dermatologic literature. There are several points I would like to make in this regard. First, there are several grades of mineral oil. There is industrial grade mineral oil, which is used as a machine lubricant, and is not of the purity required for skin application. Cosmetic grade mineral oil is the purist form without contaminants. Industrial grade mineral oil may be comedogenic, but cosmetic grade mineral oil is not. Quality manufacturers only purchase quality products from quality suppliers who guarantee the quality of the materials they provide. I personally believe that cosmetic-grade mineral oil is noncomedogenic, and I have never found it to be comedogenic in any of the testing I have performed for the skincare industry.

Well, I have acne (i think mild?) and I've tried clearasil (10% bp) and oxy (5% bp) before. I quit those after just a few days of using, because be skin looked a little red and itched, and I didn't think that was normal. Now, i'm gonna try this regimen. Seems like is being effective, and i like the fact taht you just wash, you dont have to leave cream on and feel all dirty. Well, i bought both of the creams a week or so again and im trying them now. (is it weird if the SA cream looked a little empty? it was full from the cap t the little purple swoosh....maybe someone returned it after using most of it?) Well, anyways, i wet my face with warm water and rubbed around the blackhead scrub (how much are you supposed to use?) and rinsed it off, and i don't really feel that sensation everyone is talking about and how it felt so good? just feels like i rinsxed my face with water pretty much. oh well, ill try both of the creams maybe later today.
so pretty much in summary, my questions are:
1)is it weird if the SA cream bottle looked a little empty? it was full from the cap to the little purple/red swoosh..maybe someone returned it after using most of it?
2) how much are you supposed to use of the SA scrub?
3) why didn't i feel that great sensation everyones talking about! (i just used the sa cream, gonna use the other cream at night, is this why?)
4) do you think this regimen will be too harsh for my skin? the only bp ive used were clearasil (10% bp) and oxy (5%bp) creams and i stopped after awhile because my face awss a little red and itchy and i thought it was abnormal, would this be alot easier to use and not dry out because its just a wash?
anyways, thank you for sharing this regimen with everyone and for any replies i might get
well ive used both for the first time
i used both last night, and i left the bp on for a very short time because i want to gradually get into this so i dont over dry (i did get that cool feeling on my face, although it wenty away rather fast). it didnt seem to dry me up too much, when i woke up my face was just a little burning/itchy and just a few red spots, so it doesnt seem like this 10% bp is too powerful. the sa really doesnt seem to do much for me (well, at least i cant FEEL a big change), maybe jsut a little less tight/dry skin...whats the SA supposed to do again and feel like? overall, seems to be going okay, but my question is if the bp is supposed to be on all day? i put it on at night and rinsed it off...then in the morning i took a shower (always rinse my face in shower), and then i wet my face befdore i put on the SA cream, then rinsed it off after......so thats a total of 4 rinsings since i put the bp on....is there still bp on my face thats still doing its job? how easy does the bp that supposedly gets absorbed into your pores get washed off? i don't really feel the burn/irritation after i finished rinsing off the SA in the morning...that could be a good thing cause right now my skin is feeling decent, but not if the bp has stopped doin its job
I started using just the Clean and Clear continous control at first. Used that for about a month and i was clear. I then stupidly went out and bought the Clean and Clear blackhead thing and i broke out. My face also became really really oily which is rare for me.
I'm back to using the the continous control and I'm nearly clear again.
hi there,
i'm about to use this regimen due to all of the positive feedback, and plus my acne isn't too bad so i'm hoping that it won't get any worse.
the thing is,
1) i'm in germany at the moment, and they don't seem to have clean and clear here. i think though that it may be under another name - bebe young care. the blackhead clearing wash you describe sounds very similar, and i think that johnson and johnson make bebe young care. i've also used a moisturiser from it (it's for under your eyes and face) and it's gorgeous.
2) i love in ireland for the rest of the year, where i know that you can get clean and clear. i don't think that you can get the 10% bp wash there though, but i'm willing to order if off the internet (fingers crossed that shipping won't cost too much!). does anybody know of websites that ship internationally?
3) i have my prom in less than 2 weeks, and i would love clear skin for it. if i get these products within the two weeks, do you think that i should start using them, or am i at risk to a big breakout? i don't mind getting a bad breakout if i get better skin after it, but i do mind having a breakout during my prom. i know that my skin won't be wonderful for my prom either though, since it's showing no signs of clearing up even though i'm on an antibiotic (ethyro or something?) gel. i have acne on my tzone (esp. my chin) and my chest. i also have some on my back, but that's cleared up since i've been swimming and sunbathing lately.
thanks very much for all of your help!
Alright this topic odviously has a ton of response to it, but what I really want to know is this:
I'm still in the early stages of treatment with Dan's Regimen and I think its doing a so-so job and now I read about this; what should I do? Is this better than the Regimen, should I try both, etc.
thanks for your opinions
errmmm ive been on this regmine for about 3 days and it doesnt really seem to be doing much (no new breakouts, no pimples going away either) except my face is burning/stinging....my regimine is using the SA wash in the morning, and both washes at night, i also started to add the clean and clear morning glow moisturizer to my face to combat som dryness/irritation, but my face is still stinging and burning (face red too)...is this normal? how do i know if im allergic or not? or how long until my skin gets used to it?
please repspond, i dont know if i should continue or not! my face feels really irritated! shoyuld i do every other day? (by the way, my face really isnt that dry, in fact it gets kinda oily at some parts, it just burns/stings! why is this?!)
thanks in advance! :redface2:
ALSO: i just heard about b5...what is this? does it have any side effects?
alright thanks for the response white! and sorry i didn't know there was a search function/what it does......anyways...its alright to use a moisturizer with this right? im using the clean and clear morning glow moisturizer, says it wont clog pores....does this mean it wont cause breakouts? it doesnt have vitamin e in it either...should i get one with vitamin e? is vit e needed to clear red spots and prevent scarring? thanks!
(the reason i picked this moisturizer in the first place was because it had spf 15....i heard this regimine could cause sunburn so i thought itd work out good...)
i also uses both products,, i use Bath & Body works' Bio Face Blemish Control Gel which has 0.5% Salicylic Acid in it an i am using Equate Blemish Cream which is 10% Benzoil Peroxide,,, i also wash with St. Ives ,,, the St. Ives works gr8 on me, doesnt make it worse,,, then i will use either one of the topical creams and the just use the other one the next time,,, i have seen major results,,, i look gr8,, i still have red marks tho,, that i guess are slowly fading,,,,
My acne is very pimply on my forehead and very red and lumpy pn my cheeks. Would this regimen be suitable for this?
I was already thinking of buying the blackhead clearing scrub. As I'm in the Uk I can't buy the C & C Acne Cleanser....but does anyone know what the best alternative is in the uk? Is there another C & C product that would be a good substitute for this?
thebomb said:Hey, I just have a quick question. If your skin is very sensitive to BP, could another cleanser containing something like tea tree oil be used in combination with the Blackhead Clearing scrub? I ask this because i just looked over several pages of this thread and found that if another Salacylic acid wash is used (such as nuetrogena's oil free wash) then the regimine will not be nearly as effective, so I am basically wondering if the same applies when the BP wash is substituted by tea tree or another natural, less irritating antisceptic.so basically:
morning: C&C Blackhead clearing scrub
evening: C&C Blackhead clearing scrub followed by tea tree oil cleanser (instead of 10% BP)
Ok, so I've read all 49 pages of this thread now cuz I was so interested. Geez did it take a long time!
Anyway, I'd also be interested to know about the effectiveness of Tea Tree Oil as a substitute for BP. I have pretty sensitive skin so I can bet this 10% BP stuff would totally be painful for my skin from what I've heard about other people's experiences. I've always had to have the 'Sensitive' version of every acne facewash I've bought such as Clearasil and Oxy etc.
I'm considering trying the Neutrogena Clear Pore 3.5% which I've been reading about in this thread. Hopefully it'll have enough BP in it to make a difference but it won't make my skin red raw! I know people have said its rubbish and all that but everyones skin is different and maybe its better for people who have sensitive skin. I have no problems finding the C&C Blackhead Clearing Scrub as I've seen it in stores.
Also, I have a couple of questions which really need answering.....
1. Does anyone know if Neutrogena Clear Pore 3.5% wash is available in the UK?
2. When looking for a BP wash does it say the concentration on the bottle (eg. 10%, 5%)?
is it ok to use Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer with this regimen? it contains 2%salycilic acid. would this be ok for the regimen. PLEASE HELP ME OUT.
I personally found that it dried out my skin and irritated it. I've got sensitive skin with eczema so that's probably why. Although also while being an esthetician I saw a lot of people bring this product in with acne and a lot complained about burning, peeling, and cysts.
It works for some but not for all. But also I also question how you can have moistureizer with a drying agent?
