I think that SA can make you break out, but just BP alone does not. I could be wrong.
However, I had a similar experience with breaking out along the jawline and in the middle of the cheeks, which is something that has NEVER happened to me before. I've been using SA and BP in combination now for several months and didn't pay close attention, so I don't know how long it lasted. I have (for the most part) stopped getting new ones on my jawline, but I still have marks on my cheeks from those breakouts.
However, I can't be sure what caused these breakouts. For the past year and a half, there was a time when I was on birth control (and my skin was great), then I got off of it, then I got back on it again, so a lot of my skin woes over the past year may be because of this. It is starting to look much better again. Also I tried the acne cure regimen for a while (SA, BP, and glycolic I think, I don't even remember) but it seemed to make my face much worse and drier, so I just continued using the SA and BP.
Ok everyone,
I've decided to follow Botchla's regimen to the letter. Well...kinda...at least for one crucial step. I've stopped using the C&C continuous 5% BP cleanser in the morning. It's VERY difficult to stop doing this step because Dan's regimen is based on having BP on your face 24/7. It does make me feel more secure having a "defence" mechanism on my face all the time though. But we'll see.
Starting B's regimen just two weeks ago, I've had some breakouts, like most people have. It could be any number of factors thogh. I just pray that they'll all go away soon.
I also got a lot more cysts on my cheeks, which i don't normally have. It's been about 5 weeks since I started using this regimen. However, at the time that I started using this regimen I was just breaking out with cysts on my cheeks, but they normally go away. Instead after one went away another would form. But my zits seem like they dry up and go away much quicker than before. Now my face is starting to clear up again, I only have one cyst that's already dried up and healing. Hopefully it stays that way. [-o<
Oh I also wanted to mention that I normally get zits on my chin area more than anywhere else. But ever since I've been on this regimen I haven't had any!! It seems like I broke out where I normally don't and didn't where I normally do. :-k
nearly three weeks now doing Botchla's regime.
First, the bad news.
constant breaking out in the first two weeks, yuk, my face was disgusting, i felt like a walking pus factory. the zits were huge, i could just feel people staring at them...*shudders.
Now, thegood news.
suddenly, four days ago, i stopped breaking out, everything started to heal. my skin is feeling smoother everyday, the spots are all dried, and the marks are begining to fade.
pwew. hopefully things will continue down this road.
for me there are less cons to this regime than to Dan's.
i also had a (less severe) initial breakout with that, however, the Botchla R. takes a lot less of my valuble time twice a day, and i am not dry and peely. and its not triggered my ezcma like Dan's did.
The scub exfoliates really well.
good job on the battle plan, Botchla.

My daughter started on Dan's regimen 1 month ago with very good results-----about 90% cleared up but she didn't like how long it took. So she started botchla's regimen in the mornings and at night does Botchla's regimen followed with Dan's (alot of 2.5%BP). She has really sensitive skin but this doesn't seem to be bothering her at all because she always uses moituriser. I think the SA wash has really helped her skin to get rid of alot of old skin. She can hardly wait for the new BP that Dan will be selling. The On the Spot is so nasty to rub in. I am so thankful to Dan for starting this web sight and to God for helping me stumble onto.
I'm going to pick up both C&C products tonight, and start this regimen. I'll be following it exactly as Botchla recommends. I'll use the BP wash only once a day since my skin gets dry after even washing with just cetaphil.
My skin has been incredibly oily lately. It looks like i've smeared grease all over my face. I wipe it off every few hours but it comes right back pretty quickly. For the past week or so all i've been using is cetaphil gentle cleanser twice a day, and occasionally a moisturizer. I just hope the chemical assault doesn't make my skin want to produce even MORE oil....
Well, so much for that. This regimen is far too irritating to my skin. Even using a pea sized amount of the BP once a day caused redness, tightness, and burning. Moisturizing didn't help. The SA cleanser isn't so bad, but it takes a long time to fully rinse off your skin, and even then some of those microbeads get left behind.
I been on this method for 1 week now and things seem to get better than the first few days. But then it seem worst than before I started. Before I start this method, my skin was smooth and about 1 whitehead and 1 cyst but now (1 week later). No more cyst (which is good) but then more whiteheads and more red spots and my face is not smooth anymore. Anyone with this situations???? Will the roughness gone soon so face will be smooth again????
Thanks
Danny
Hey Danny...
I am currerntly about 1 week and 3/4 in... When i reached the week mark... I had some break outs... actually quite a few... but the BP drys them up really fast... and since that one week mark I have had about 2 new pimples... around my mouth area... so yes your skin will get better... one thing to remeber is dont use too hot of water... the more dryness you get... the no chance of breakouts... so find how hot u can have the water wihtout gettin dry...
Drawss
No new zits since Feb. 7th on this regimen.I am now starting Clean & Clear Morning Glow moisturizer With all the bbq, yardwork this summer I'll need some sunscreen and moisturizer. So let you know if this is any good stuff.Plus have been doing the apple cider vinegar f.y.i. it's 2 cups bottled water one cup apple cider vingar,I use it twice a day, kinda burns after shaving.been on this vinegar method about a month so I know it doesn't break me out.Seems to have helped with the scars or maybe it the red marks still fading. it's march 18th Coooooooooooooooool.oh yeah on Monday I am having my blackhead removed by a spa.It just wont go away!but other than that
Wow -- I was using this EXACT same regime without any knowledge of this board (I just came across this board yesterday). It was actually a coincidence that I started using it. I had bought the Cleand and Clear Blackhead clearing scrub and my mom wanted to go out and buy another tube but by accident she bought the Continuous Control cleanser. So I started using them -- though my regime was opposite from yours. I first washed with the Cleanser then the Scrub. I found that the scrub didn't work as well so I switched to another 2% salicylic acid cleanser -- Clean and Clear's Continous Control Foaming Cleanser. And I still go oppositely from what you do; first the BP cleanser then the SA cleanser and it's working well for my skin. I use the Clean and Clear Dual action moisturizer after I wash; it has with .5% SA -- and just recently added an Aveeno Toner to my regime.
The only problem I have with this regime is that it is hard to clear up the red, dark spots that pimples leave behind. So I've then started using the Tape Method to try to clear them up -- hopefully it will work for me.
I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one using this regime. I was afraid it was way harsh and stuff and some people advised me not to do it cause it was too harsh but I found that it works well for me. What a coincidence =D>
I tried this regimen about 3 weeks ago. First week I was very clear. I only got a couple of zits and they went away fairly quickly. However, the next week I started getting large cysts. Quite a few of them. Taking a queue from a few of the posts in this thread I stopped the SA and now do the BP 10% wash morning and night. It has been one week since I went back to using only BP and I have cleared up to about 20% of the zits I used to have. Note that I mostly get large cyst-like zits and rarely get comedones (which the SA is best for).
I also want to make a mention that when I do get a cyst, I use a combination of 10% topical BP and neosporin cream (the cream, not the ointment) on the cyst. The combination really seems to cut down on the severity and duration of the red, inflamed, cyst-like zits more than just using BP alone. Neosporin does nothing for comedone type zits (and may even make them worse).
i got the clean and clear continuous cleanser and i was reading some on the ingredients and i seen that it contains mineral oil and petrolatum which i always thought were not good for acne prone skin.i was thinking of using SA in the morning and C&C at night but i really dont wanna chance a breakout.
i have moderate acne chin/mouth/jawline, and i was wondering what kind of results i'll probably see after a week on botchla's regimen.
The answer there is very subjective. Some have found it very effective, wihle others haven't. Some have experienced no breakout period, while others have. The best thing to do is to dive right in and give it a try! The important thing is, you have to be consistent and stick with it and believe that it'll work eventually. You didn't get your acne overnight, so you can't expect it to go away that quickly either.
For me, I did Dan's regimen for a while and it worked great. The I switched over and combined the two. I wasn't 100% on either regimen so I had to tweak it with extras like vinegar, etc.
