I think it is the menthol. Be careful.. I don't think your face should be red for 30 mins. after.. yikes.. See, here in Canada, that same wash only has 5% bp and I find even that tingles my face QUITE a bit.... I guess I'd just suggest leaving it on only long enough to wash and rinse it off. Let us know.

Take care,

sj

Thanks SaraJane

I am thinking it's probably the methonal also. I will try it for a shorter period of time tomorrow and see what happens. I only use it in the morning so hopefully this will do the trick. I would hate to stop using it because it seems that it has been working really well.

I haven't had any new breakouts (other than a few small whiteheads and balckheads) since I have been using it.

I will update on my progress.

Thanks.

jcp9- Well, i've been using the two products only for a short short amount of time, but I am completely clear now. Only maybe 5 days. BUT, I am sooo pleased..

Here's what I do:

A.M.- I wash with dove or clinique (both are bars of face soap), then a bit later in the morning I wash with Neutrogena oil-free acne wash (2% s.a.)in the shower. I also have Trisan (great stuff to have) that I use when I think of it/have time (i'm usually in a rush).

P.M.- (here's the new stuff!) I wash with the C&C Blackhead Clearing Scrub, rinse, then wash with the Continuous Control Cleanser. After that, I apply my Dalacin T solution (clyndamycin -sp?) on my forehead and a tiny bit on my chin sometimes, let it dry for a second.. then put the Neutrogena On-The-Spot (bp 2.5%) on my whole forehead and nose and chin.

THEN, I get sleep.. the more you get, the better your skin looks it seems! That's when your skin repairs itself. AND I eat lots and lots of CHOCOLATE! 8-[

Here is what i do and use

Products:

- Clean and Clear Continous Control

- Clean and Clear Blackhead Scrub

- Clean and Clear Toner

- Panoxyl

---

I Started out just usin the 2 products C&C Continuous Control and the Blackhead scrub but it wasn't really working for me for a week so i decide to add 2 more products and they worked miracles on me. Plus Botchla said you might need to add a few more things and stuff to get it to completely work for you so thats what i did. But i when to the drug store and asked for help first because i didn't wanna burn or hurt my face.

---

I use all products in the morning and night and i add thm one after another. I wash my face with the C&C Balckhead scrub for 45 second rinse off and dry face just abit and then wet face again and do the same with the C&C Continuous Cleanser then i pat my face dry and wait about a minute or two and then apply the C&C Toner using cotton balls and i use different ones for my forehead, i would say i use about 5 cotton balls.. Then after that i leave the Toner on and apply the panoxyl "BP" ontop of the Toner.. Your face will get abit red and hot but it will go away after an hour at the most, your face should get use to it..

THATS MY REGIMEN, IF YOU WANNA SEE HOW GOOD IT WORKED CHECK THE URL OUT AND SEE THE PICTURES THAT I MOST!

NOOO hahahhaha I love chocolate. And i've been eating more than ever since we have a lot around due to Christmas.. and my skin is better than ever! hahhahah I think all that could possibly affect your skin would be the higher intake of fat in your diet.. not directly the chocolate. And usually I have VERY little fat in my diet (I don't eat junk food or fast food).. but this chocolate isn't doing a thing. So.. whatever! I'm happy. lol Don't worry about it!

I ate like a buttload of chocolate last week #-o and seem to have gotten a few whiteheads this week, which I had been free of for about 3 weeks previous. Hard to say if there's a link. I also drank like 12 glasses of water a day after eating all that chocolate cuz I was paranoid of its effects haha.

Anyways, I just went out and bought the C&C Blackhead Clearing Scrub. I already have the Continuous Control cleanser in my house for some unknown reason... never bought it myself. I'm gonna try Botchla's regimen out on my forehead before doing it on my whole face, and I'll continue Dan's regimen. My forehead has been clear for like 2 years except for those tiny, flesh colored bumps that Botchla also noticed having. Hopefully this comination won't break me out! I tried the scrub on the skin on my forearm and it seemed kind of rough... but hopefully not too rough. I also bought the C&C Shine Control moisturizer; has anyone had success with this? It seems good. Wish me luck, all!

Also, a question, does anyone on this regimen moisturize w/Eucerin Renewal? I didn't know if the combination of Lactic Acid with the Salicylic Acid would be too irritating. I'd probably use that rather than the other stuff on the really dry days. Thanks.

jcp9- BUTTLOAD!! hahahahah that seriously made me crack up. lol Nah don't worry about it, I really think the chances are slim that it was the chocolate that caused the few whiteheads.

The blackhead clearing scrub is okay. What is your skin like?? My skin is very sensitive but it can handle it fine. It is so nice to be clear.. It's worth a try!

I use cetaphil moisturizer. I love it. My derm. recommended it. BUT THE CLEANSER IS GROSS AND USELESS!! (cetaphil)

Any of the girls here wear makeup? I just wanted to take this chance to rave about Mary Kay. I live on those products. Mm.. If you don't have a flawless face, you can easily fake it!! :-$

Ummm...the terms "buttload" and "chocolate" should not be used in the same sentence.

if whiteheads are your problem, i'd suggest cleansing with a gentle cleanser and then using a bha product that stays on the skin. i have little faith in topical scrubs, medicated or not, that only remain on the skin for 20 seconds - a minute.

this is just from experience, since whiteheads are *all* i get.

exfoliation is the key in dealing with whiteheads, but you want to exfoliate inside the pore, not just on the surface. and even though the scrub has BHA, in general it won't be on nearly long enough to actually make a difference in prevention. it may help with dislodging the whitehead itself, though.

Yeah, I dunno how my skin is cuz I don't really compare it to others. It's REALLY dry after all these acne products, as in it gets completely dried out just taking a shower and not cleansing it. But it's also pretty shiny/oily when I look in like my rear-view mirror in my car. I can see the little drops of oil inside my pores and I look all sparkly...haha, not cool. I dunno, I guess it's combination. After trying the SA scrub and then the BP wash, it got a TINY flaky on my forehead and itched, but not too bad, so I put a little bit of moisturizer on and it was totally fine. But I don't think my forehead is as dry as, say, around my mouth... so I'll probably have to worry about a lot of dryness there if I decide to go on this regimen. I've kind of had a mini breakout of whiteheads today... not like zits, just like little whiteheads with no redness around them. Once I prick them with a pin, though, they get red... so that was dumb on my part. Oh well, I attack them with BP and they're gone by the morning. I dunno... does this mean that Dan's regimen is not really working for me and that I should move on? I've been on it for 3 1/2 months, and the only time I was completely clear was for a week 2 weeks ago, which was crappy cuz it was finals week lol... the only week I DON'T need clear skin. I'm slightly hesitant to move on to this regimen because my acne isn't too bad anymore, knock on wood, but it is pretty hard washing my face, then waiting 15 minutes, then applying bp, then waiting 15 minutes, then applying moisturizer, then waiting 10 minutes to see areas that I can spot treat again... it's just so time consuming... haha I'm ALWAYS running to my first period class at school. That's why this regimen is so appealing... so if anyone reading this has been on this regimen for an extended period of time, or anyone at all that has been on this, please write a response because inquiring minds want to know how you're doing. Thanks!

Haha P.S. My mom freaked out the other day and thought I had been stabbing myself or something after she found all her sewing pins in the bathroom... lol!

jcp9- Make sure you put the pins in alcohol first! You know.. you really don't have to wait 15 mins. between washing and putting on the bp etc... Are you a guy or girl? Then I can give you appropriate tips. lol I'm pretty sure but I don't want to sound stupid if I say it! ha! What moisturizer are you using right now? You may like cetaphil. I'm completely happy with it. As for the bp.. I think it's a good thing.. but you may want to stop it in the morning. There are other things.. like Dalacin T solution. Can't tell you have it on at all and I think it -pretty much- serves the same purpose as bp. It causes no problem when you put moisturizer over it.. you only have to wait like 15 seconds for it to soak in. I think it's just good stuff to have on during the day if you want something on. (I don't think maybe that it's even that necessary in your case.. your acne doesn't sound too severe, but I could be wrong). I don't really know how to deal with the whiteheads.. i've only broken out with them twice as a reaction to something.. and the only thing I did was wait for them to go away, wash normally, and put my Mary Kay salicylic acid toner on it. Was that your problem before you started the bp? Maybe it's the bp causing it?? As I just said, I don't know much about them.. but maybe it is better not to pop them with a pin? Also, I don't think your skin should be so dry.. Is it always really dry or is your skin just getting used to the new products?

Ok I've question :-

Out of all the people trying this regimen, how many are having excellent results and how many are not?

It looks very harsh on the skin to me so I just want to see.

Thanks.

SaraJane:

Yeah, I've put them under a flame a few times, but I usually just clean it with my cetaphil bar and sometimes an antibacterial soap. I'm a guy, and tips would really help cuz I'm going to Lake Tahoe tomorrow snowboarding and don't want to hog the bathroom forever (cuz I'm goin with these girls ) and they'll complain haha. I dunno if you could help me as much tho since you aren't a guy, but thank you very much! Anyways, I use Eucerin Renewal and love it, but don't know if it would be too irritating if I were on this regimen and had it (since it has alpha hydroxy acids) with Salicylic, a Beta Hydroxy Acid... dunno if it would be too irritating. I tried Cetaphil but had a bad experience... I think it might have been the one for the whole body, though, which may explain it haha. What is the Dalacin T composed of? Sounds like a good idea because the thing I'm a bit weary of is not having anything on my face during the day on this regimen. You're right, my acne isn't too severe; it was completely gone for a while till my mom gave me some retin-a (got it without a prescription on a trip to Mexico.... dumb move, mom) and a salicylic wash... broke me out like on both sides on my chin, so I had HUGE symmetrical red spots, bigger than a quarter. That's what brought me to this site, and Dan's regimen took a while but eventually cleared it up. I still get new pimples, usually not big red ones, but a few new ones every other day or so, sometimes more than just one... I think this might be because I'm becoming immune to my Minocycline... it's been about 14 months since I've been on it. But the strange thing is that you just made me realize that I didn't really used to have the whiteheads before Dan's regimen..... hmmm, I might need more exfoliation, which Botchla's regimen would provide. Probably not so go to pop them with a pin, but I just go crazy if I don't lol... they usually cause a red mark either way

:-({|= . My skin is ALWAYS really dry... even if I'm on no acne product I need to use a moisturizer . This has been the status quo for about a year now, seems like ever since I started taking the minocycline. Dunno why it's that way... maybe it's puberty, cuz I'm 17 and it's probably still occurring. Thanks for your responses, SJ!

BTW I just did the Botchla regimen on my forehead about 15 minutes ago and put some moisturizer on the skin, yet it still kind of itches. Is this normal? This is like the 2nd day I've been doing it.

Use Zirh Clean facial wash if ur skin is dry.

Mines the same and thats the best one I've tried. It maintains the skins balance as much as possible and u dont need a moisturiser.

It may take getting used to but works for me n my skins very dry after washing and Zirh Clean is the best I've tried.

Smells great aswell and wont strip the skin on rinse.

lasts for ages.....you only need very little of it.

Use Tendskin Air Shave Gel and a Gillette Sensor Excel Razor.

Zirh Shave Cream or Gel is also good, but the Tendskin provides more slip and doesnt dry making it very comfortable for Acne Sufferers.

I wonder what happened to all the people that tried this regimen in the beginning... like the earlier posts? Maybe they're all clear and that's why they don't come back... lol. If anyone has been on this regimen for a while, please post. I know I've already asked this but I just wanna know how it's goin lol. Thanks

I doubt they are all clear.......the regimen sounds very harsh and abrasive to me.

It wouldnt suit everyones skin ,only the most common forms of Acne Vulgaris with a teenage skin.

I dunno... never heard of it. I wonder if it would be OK to use while on Dan's regimen, or if it wouldn't go well with the BP.
