Pros:

didnt work at all :(

Cons:

Horrible, horrible acne, very red skin on my face, skin peeled nonstop, itchy, very dry and embarassing

My Derm recommended it to me since nothing else was working. I was excited. He told me things would get worse. He also told do not stop. I took for a few months and nothing improved. I followed the instructions and still nothing. So I stopped. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. ITS A RIP OFF.

Pros:

The itching, peeling and more acne in the first weeks.

Cons:

I have been on Retin-A for almost three weeks and I am breaking out around my chin. I hope this is because it is actually working.

It seems that that Retin-A is not working because I am breaking out more, but I will stick to it. The peeling has not been that bad and I put it on every night religiously.

Pros:

Fast results within 3 weeks of proper use.
Gets rid of those pimples you cant see,but feel.

Cons:

Face got super oily and sensative.
Face hurt when i applied my mineral foindation.

I was recommended Tretinoin Cream 0.05% by my dermatologist along with Clindamycin Phosphate Gel 1% & Doxyclycline Hyclate Tablets. This product is AMAZING ive suffered with acne for 5 years. And this product started to work whithin 3 WEEKS! ...I was beyond excited. Even though i got oilier than ever it still worked. Its amazing but you have to be patient and let it do its job. Its the greatest feeling when your skin is one less thing to worry about. Give it a try!

Pros:

I don't see anything good about my skin yet.

Cons:

I feel like my acne got worse and even have it in some places I've never had it, like my cheeks. My face is oily to begin with, and i feel like it made it oilier and irritated. My pores seem bigger too.

I guess I have to keep using it to see if it really works or not, and the instructions say that it may take up to 6-12 weeks. So basically, you have to be very patient because your skin will look gross for like 3 months. And I'm yet to find out if it's going to actually help or not.

Pros:

Clears skin very well. I have no more acne on my face. This stuff is wonderful.

Cons:

It takes a long time to see any results. I started noticing improvements after 9 weeks. It gets worse before it gets better. Be patient!

This product really does work if you give it time and apply everyday. My skin has never looked so good. The price might be a little much for some but I think it is worth every cent.

Pros:

None, AT ALL!

Cons:

made my skin ultra sensitive, worse acne, irritation of skin, sensitive to sun, etc

I used retisol 0.01 then moved up to 0.025.After 10 months still no improvement!I wish I didn't stick with it so long, I wanted to believe that it was going to solve my acne problems and I believed the "IT GOT WORSE BEFORE IT GOT BETTER" which in reality proved to be false! In fact when I consulted another doctor he told me that it is true that you have to wait 3 months to see improvement, but that you SHOULD SEE an IMPROVEMENT. If you don't then its not working! Retisol made my skin so sensitive I couldn't go out to the sun even with 60 FPS creams. My skin reacted to anything anytime, I got these huge red spots that were hot and itchy. I couldn't put anything on my face as it resulted in a rash and my face was peeling of so bad.My acne actually got worse and i had breakouts in places where I never had before. Finally my dermy told me to stop that it wasn't working. And 4 months later, my skin is still having the side effects retisol caused! BOTTOM LINE: DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT!

Pros:

Affordable, works with proper use

Cons:

Dry, peeling skin

It did take awhile for this product to begin working for me. I actually had a really bad breakout period initially, but I let the product do what I know a lot of acne products do: bring out the bad in order to clear it up. And that's exactly what happened in the first 3 weeks. My face got REALLY bad, and then it started to dry out and peel. I would scrub my face every other day with a mild soap and wash cloth (typically, I was my face without a wash cloth and just use my hands). Then as soon as the peeling stopped, my face cleared up and most of the pimples were gone, along with a lot of scarring. I still have scarring, of course, but my face still peels here and there which helps with the scarring. I just continue to scrub every other day when it happens. Now when I get a pimple, it usually goes away within three days and they never get too horrible looking.

Alas, it did nothing for me. But it could work for you! I'm still glad I tried it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
