Pros:

Still have not seen any pros yet, but hoping to!

Cons:

Burning, red face, acne is worse, skin shedding like crazy.

I started one month ago and the first week was horrible, burning, redness, shedding skin and acne got worse. I am still using it in hopes it helps in the long run. When I first started I had bad burning and shedding of the skin but it got better after week 2 and now at week 4 the redness and shedding is back again. Not sure why since I've not used as much as I did in the beginning. I use Tretinoin not Retin A.

Pros:

Clears skin (kinda) after about a month of usage

Cons:

smells, expensive,

This is a product where you MUST be patient when using. It WILL make you break out really bad the first 2 weeks, so don't give up!

Pros:

Fades scars, smooths out skin's surface, pushes blackheads out of skin

Cons:

can make skin dry, red, and peely, DO NOT use with benzoyl peroxide (BURNT my skin off!!)

I've been using the .1% cream and my skin looks smoother but I've been getting some breakouts in my chin and mouth area. I had been using benzoyl peroxide during the day and the retin-A at night, but my skin was on fire, so im just sticking with the cream. The only bad side effect is the peeling, esp. around the lips. It can take months for this stuff to work...

Pros:

clears up acne, smooths out skin, prevents more breakouts

Cons:

skin becomes red and peels, skin hurts bad for a while

ITS SO WORTH IT. I've been using this for two weeks and I can already see a HUGE improvement. I was worried because everyone said I would breakout really bad. At first, my skin became red and it peeled. It also stung really bad to the touch for a while (I skipped using it for a couple of days till my skin felt better then went back to using it everyday). I used a bunch of moisturizer to help the peeling and it stopped after three days. My dermatologist said that I would breakout really bad at first, but so far I haven't had any since the day I started using the medication. As of now, I have only two marks on my face and they're almost gone!

Pros:

makes it go abit, quite fast after abit

Cons:

makes spots/scars go really red and noticable when you out it on.
It makes your face peel for the first two weeks
not really good with scarstakes 4 weeks for you to see results

Got this along with an oral tablet free of my doc it got rid of the spots... but left some scars. :( good for getting rid of spots though. and works quite fast

Pros:

it absorbs so well not a sticky ceam at all. clears my skin, starting to see red/purple marks fading from pimples. only been using for 2 weeks, hopefully it goes well, can order from skin care rx

Cons:

$75 a tube, dryness, some redness,

its working at clearing me up and fading marks on my skin and shrinking my pores size. i cleanse with purpose moring and night spf of 30 from good skin super hydrating for the day. i use vasaline around my eyes top and bottom i also put it around my lip area. some people exspress concern around the lip area getting yellow and crusty. the directions clearly state keep away from nasal folds, lip area, and mucas membrames like the eyes. i use it on the top of my lips but not on the side maybe your saliva might be making that yellow stuff grow plus it is very drying. However i do dab a bit under the eye area but you cant gob it on it's very very potent so use with caution and be patient until your skin adjusts. start slow then you can upgrade. i just think bad results happen with misuse.

Pros:

It works well. Along with this product I also use a oral medicine, minocyclene.

Cons:

During my menstrual cycle, i still breakout. It makes my skin really dry! It leaves red marks after the zits/pimples are gone.

I put vitamin E lotion on my face every morning, and that helps the dryness. I use foundation on the red spots and my face glows.

Pros:

Clears up acne noticeably!

Cons:

Your skin gets really dry, "especially around your chin and mouth areas." You break out alot on areas you havent before and acne gets worse in the first 3 weeks or so.

Just stick with it, its disheartning at first, but by about wk 5, theres a big diference, I'll check in again at wk 12 at share my expierence!!

Pros:

Really seems to help clear up lots of little bumps on my face;skin is nice and smooth;zits arent as big as they used to be; face isnt oily;zits take less time to go away.

Cons:

MAJOR PEELING for first two weeks
When a zit goes away, it basically peels off and leaves very res marks for about a week that are hard to cover up and annoying
Break out in about first 3 weeks of use

Well, i am a swimmer, meaning that dries my skin out even more. Its also embarrasing to walk around the pool deck with all of my red marks showing from previous zits. My skin is almost 100 percent clear, but the red marks make it look like its a lot worse then it really is. But oh well! Im hoping those will fade, and my skin will look great!

Pros:

Clears acne, reduces redness, swelling, and stops that pimple in its track from reaching the surface.

Cons:

Dries the ish out of my skin, doesn't do ish for cystic acne

You have to use this stuff every night. I use it with Glytone as well, so my face burns when I use both but I do it anyway. I have a good moisturizer from Clinique which is a waterbased oil-free moisturizer. Doesn't do anything for cystic acne just surface pimples. I haven't noticed scar fading with it yet, but I also have never been this consistent with using it as I am now. So I'll check back in a few!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
