Pros:

-Gives your face a nice glow
-Face is smoother
-got rid of big pimples (after a week or so)

Cons:

-acne got worst before it got better (still worth it though!)
-kinda itchy at first
-peeling

This product is the medicine that you NEED to stick to. It might make your acne a little worse at the first week, but after a couple of weeks are so it will improve a whole lot! it is itchy but its something that you can control. and important that you DO NOT pick at ur pimples because your skin is thin because of the medication.. but seriously, this is great!

Ease into medication as directed on the package. I started at once every 3 days and then increased and had no irritation. Waiting 30 min after washing face is also suggested. I've tried Duac and Differin for 1.5 years and it didnt help. Tretinoin was the only medication that worked on the bumps on my forehead.

Pros:

it can clear almost everything

pimples, whiteheads, blackheads, even wrinkle, and tone your skin

Cons:

some dryness

you MUST use it with moisturizer and please start off with low concentration (0.01~0.025% is recommended) since you know your skin is going to be sensitive after using this product, you would be very stupid if you are not going to use sunblock during the day! you just need to know "how" to use this properly

Pros:

Clears up pimples (even my cysts!)
Skin appears more even
Skin is MUCH smoother

Cons:

VERY irritating side effects the first few weeks
Peeling, flaking, redness, stinging.

I've had acne since I was 13. I've tried probably around 10 different prescription medications... differin, benzaclin, Nicomide, minocycline, and many many more. The only one that ever showed improvement was Minocycline pills, BUT i had an awful allergic reaction that sent me straight to the ER. I had started Proactiv (no results, obviously,) and was about to give up. My friend gave me a card of an awesome dermatologist in my town, so i told myself i'd give it one more shot. She put me on a regimen of Retin A Micro at night along with a sulfur facewash, and benzol peroxide in the morning with the same facewash, and also Desonide lotion every other night (to help with the irritating effects of the Retin A.) It took about 3 months to see any results, and yes, my acne DID get much worse before i got better. But you have to stick it out!!!! My skin looks great... not perfect, but better than it has in 8 years. Retin A is a keeper!!

Pros:

really clears up all kinds of acne and makes skin smooth, clears blemishes quicker than just naturally getting rid of them

Cons:

dry and red at first, pretty flaky, gets worse before better, took 3 and a half to 4 months for it to work for me

i am totally satisfied with what it has done. it took a while and had a few rough times but definitely worth it in the end just be patient and stay positive. the main bad part is getting worse before it gets better, but when it is better you won't even remember the times when it was bad, and you will be happy you stuck with it!

Pros:

Gives skin a better tone, eliminates mild acne fast, easy to use

Cons:

Extreme redness, lots of peeling, oily skin

I've used all sorts of acne prodcust over the last few years, I'm 19 and have had acne since I was 15. Retin-a cream has definately helped more than anything else, especially at eliminating my scars from acne long ago. I like the tone it gives my skin (some days) and that small pimples will disappear within a day when they come up when using this product. The downside is that I always feel like I have a sunburn. It might just be the wintery weather but Retin-a leaves a line almost (from where applied) and produces red, blotchy skin. I get lots of peeling on my chin as well. To fight the redness and peeling I have been using Eucerin Redness Relief lotion from the drugstore. It burns to apply but does seem to help. I've been using this product for 6 months and will continue to use it.

Not working as well as I had hoped
Short acne story: I started dealing with terrible forehead acne when I was about 10 years old. I never got pimples on my cheeks ever....until I was 18. I started noticing little clogged pores and bumps on the side of my nose and on my cheeks. I tried drinking more water, doing turmeric and honey masks, eating healthier, washing my face twice a day and using tea tree oil and moisturizer, green tea sleeping better and trying to stress less; nothing worked. So I went to my doctor and got prescribed 0.05% Tretinoin cream. Review: I started using the cream on June 13th, 2016 and it is now October 30, 2016 sooo I've been using it for a good 4 and a half months. I had a terrible purge for the first 3 months where my cheeks erupted with red bumps. I kept hoping that after week 12 I would see improvement but all that happened was that it cleared the purge acne but the normal issues that I was having are still there. I have a couple painful pimples along my jawline and 2 red ones on my cheeks, 2 on my forehead and some tiny ones by my mouth. It's a huge improvement from what my skin was like a month or 2 ago... but it is not the results that I was hoping for at all. This cream hasn't really worked for me and I keep reading reviews on how people used it for 6 months and suddenly had no pimples. I'm not sure if I will continue the tube after it is finished. I have been using it every night and have never missed a night. Also, I did not experience the usual reaction to this cream at all (dryness, pealing)... my skin has never burned while using this product but instead it seems oilier than it used to be. I guess it just doesn't suit my skin type.

You can get in okdermo, recommend!

Try the gel based version. The cream based version tends to cause issues with most folks. If that doesn't help try Epiduo or just add a benzoyl peroxide gel/wash that doesn't have awful inactive ingredients. Inactive ingredients such as laureth 4 are things that you gotta watch out for because they will cause acne in most most people that are prone to it.

Not quite 5 stars yet, but getting there!
I started using Tretinoin 0.01% gel 16 days ago (i know not long), but my active pimples on my cheeks are so smooth now! There is still scarring/discoloration, but i am very impressed. I read a lot of reviews saying that your skin will purge, but mine has done nothing but improve everyday. Makeup applies so much smoother and evenly now! I am obsessed and pray that this continues to clear up my face. I would recommend to anyone! PS: I was putting rubbing alcohol on my face as a spot treatment prior to using this prescription, that may be why i didn't have the initial "purge". Also, I read that the gel is better for acne because the cream may clog pores (just FYI).

This cream works wonders!
This review for people who have really sensitive skin. I used to have this product on my entire face for almost year and it not only cleared my ance, it repaired the damages left by the ance. However, one day my dermatologist told me that Stevia A stopped the production of the cream and i was literally out of it. Next, my ance started breaking again. I was so desperate, i went for isolaz thinking that it will solve everything. It did help my skin kickstart the purging phase. Here's the nightmare, i did let my skin rest after isolaz. I jumped right right straight back to using tretinoin, AHA and differin. When i felt the dryness, i didn't care, i literally continued. Please don't do any of what i did. If you do any laser, chemical peel or any treatment, let your skin rest for that day and then resume back the pimple cream and glycolic acid the following day. The reason i say this is because by the time i couldn't stand the dryness and wanted my skin to go back to normal, it was too late. My skin was already so so dry. I literally took almost a year to get my skin back to normal. In fact, my dermatologist told me that it is harder to treat dry skin with ance and it is true. I went through this myself and i know it's awful. Back to Retin A, since it is back in production with Stevia A, i am using it now. My routine now: Dalacin lotion 0.1% (whole face) (morning and night) Differin 0.1% (morning) (whole face) Tretinoin 0.05% (nightly) (whole face) Retin A 0.1% (nightly) (over the bumpy areas) So one year later, i have decided to go back for isolaz. I have since gone for 2 sessions of isolaz and will be going for my 3rd session in 2 weeks time. It has been two weeks from the time i started my first isolaz and topical treatment as stated above. My skin have jump from feeling the many crazy bumps under my skin to whiteheads all over my skin and now to the disappearance of whiteheads day after day. I must say the purging came really fast with the isolaz. It was really scary but i told to just hang in there. The earlier the purging ends, the earlier my skin can start healing. Btw, i highly recommend you to try out isolaz if you want to speed up the purging process. It works far better than a chemical peel since this is for active ance. Also, my dermatologist said that sebum glands will slow down after the 4th session. I will update you guys on my progress after my next isolaz. Week 3 My dermatologist added an oral antibiotics and topical antibiotics to help reduce the severity of purging. I definitely do see a lot of the whiteheads and papules going away. However, new ones are still surfacing from the bumps under my skin Week 4 I can now confidently use retin a on the sides of my cheeks and top of my entire forehead without feeling dryness. I guess my skin has gotten used to it. On the side note, i noticed that more of the under skin bumps are appearing to the surface as well. Nothing huge or anything scary. Also, i am now on topical and oral antibiotics. That is certainly helping as well. Week 5 I went for my 3rd isolaz session. This time round, i saw a significant reduction in my ance. My skin felt smoother and glowly. There lesser bumps and pimples after the isolaz session. My advice to all of you out there if you are intending to go for isolaz. Please make sure that your isolaz sessions apart are no longer than 2 weeks. Also, make sure you go for at least 4 sessions. That way you will reap the maximum effect of the isolaz treatment. If not you will just be wasting your money. Two weeks from now is my 4th isolaz session, i will update you guys then. Week 6 The under skin bumps all appeared as whiteheads. They are all over my chin, side of my cheeks and forehead. This all started to happen when i used retin a over my entire face. Therefore, i think the purging from the cream has just started for me. On the side note, i am no longer feeling any form of dryness on my skin. Week 7 I just got my 4th isolaz treatment. This time it took away all the under skin bumps with it. All i am left with is whiteheads. My dermatologist told me that enthromycin is gonna take care of that. I have noticed that my skin feels a lot less cluttered. I am have whiteheads here and there of my face. Overall, my skin has definitely made a lot of progress since my 1st isolaz. To everyone out there struggling with acne, try to hang in there. Moreover, know that since you started retin a, you are already making progress day by day. Soon enough, you will be at the finishing line. In the meanwhile, just try and focus on something else. Your friends ain't gonna abandon just because you have acne. True friends will embrace you. week 8 All the whiteheads have somehow subsided overnight. They were still really huge the night before. I am just left with a couple of pimples. When i touched my face this morning, the bumps were seriously almost all gone. I am now really sure that the creams are definitely taking effect. 3 days from now will be my next isolaz session. I believe that is going to take care of the remaining acne.

This will be the final update i will giving everyone. My acne has entirely subside. All i am left with is just Post hyper pigmentation marks. I believe the routine did work to get my acne away. However, the treatments did really help to quicken the process as well. In total, i went for 5 isolaz treatment, 1 chemical peel and 2 carbon peel with blue light treatment. That pretty much subsided all my acne. All i have to say is that this treatment does work. If you are having a hard time going through this right now, please tell yourself to keep. Everyday your skin is trying to fight off the acne, it will one day win the battle. Stay strong. The day where your clear skin is just around the corner. In the meanwhile, be diligent with using retina a and all the other topical and/or oral antibiotics. It will work. Have faith! I literally saw no hope in my skin and felt depressed for a period of time so i definitely know how it feels. Trust me. This routine works. You can do it.

Acne sucks we all know that, you feel ashamed of yourself, you can't look at people's eyes and ugh it's hard, I know. This product WILL cure you. In two weeks, three, or even months, but it will trust me. It just depends on your skin. Well my skin is 40% cured in the last two days in the FIRST WEEK! the first five days my face peeled alot, it was red i mean, too red. but it's not as bad as it sounds, i handled it fine, and you will too! yes, i broke out, but so what? we always break out, but this time you will break out for a reason, to clear your skin, consider it as process, believe me i was too afraid to use it, but i'm so gad i did! just take it easy and go for it! PLEASE! IT WILL WORK!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
