Cons:
YOU WILL BREAK OUT BADLY in the first month/two months ( it makes your skin worse before it gets better), thins skin out, kind of expensive (but WORTH IT!!)
I started using this about a year ago, and at first my skin got TERRIBLE, but it said that this would happen so I kept using it. After about three months my skin was beautiful! I could actually go out without makeup which was a first for me, and my doctor said if I continued using it, it would eventually fade scars. The only thing I didn't like was it thinned my skin out, so if I was embarrassed my face would turn bright red, but this was worth acne free skin. Then, I felt like I didn't need to use it anymore; bad idea because a year later I am breaking out again. I recently started using it again though. BOTTOM LINE: Your acne will get worse first but KEEP USING IT!! And don't stop once your skin is clear, just keep using it and you will love your skin!

Pros:
gets rid of acne, break-outs not as bad as before I got onto the cream, caused some freckles to fade and evened out skin tone
Cons:
patches of dry skin, still get the occasional break-out
I've been using Tazorac for YEARS and it hasn't caused my acne to completely disappear. However, it has worked better than any other product I've tried. I used to have severe acne but now only have very light acne. The caveat is that I have to continue applying it or else my skin will return to way it was before. Even while using Tazorac, I occasionally have moderate break-outs but it gets rid of the resulting acne very quickly. The only reason I give it a "3" for effectiveness, instead of a 5, is that I am still dependent on it to keep my skin clear after so many years. I'm worried that my skin might get resistant to it and I'll have to switch to something that might either have worse side effects or does not work as well.

Pros:
It lessens big zits relatively fast, but not overall acne
Cons:
Peels skin while also leaving it oily. It does not unclog pores and isn't any help when it comes to scars
I've been using this topical for almost 8 years (in gel and cream forms), and it's never fully delivered its clear skin promise (although numerous derms told me it would). It's good at staving off all-over acne, but as for existing breakouts, it's only so so. Apparently my skin does not work well with retanoids.

when i wake up it isnt as shiny
So i've been on this product about a week and i've broken out far more. It's red, more whiteheads, and its made me really depressed. I'm so self-consious, i've not wanted to go in public or even see friends. School starts in 3 weeks and im am the least excited. I dont think ill be able to handle the stares. I've only been on this product about a week so i hope it improves. I recommend this only if you arn't super self consious and if you are patient, unlike me.

I have been using taz for about 2 months, and was very hesitant about continuing because my face would peel very badly. I kept going though and my face really cleared up. The only thing is that my face is so shiny ! I am constantly wiping my face down due to the oilines. Although i dont break out, i have also noticed that my pores have gotten larger...its really bad...not sure whats worse...the oiliness or the zits. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to continue using this product minus the shine? I put on only a bit before bed time and wake up a shily mess. even after i have washed my face, soon after, Im all oiled up again...any ideas?

Pros:
Clears up acne. Makes skin soft. For all you people out there who are unsure, i recommend using it for SEVERAL months before you decide. Really great for wrkinkles. highly recommended. this should be free if you have medicaid!

Makes skin shiny looking so i recommend using it when you know that's you're not going to go out. Not that great for scars, but i've only used it for two months so that could change.
For me, Tazorac was practically heaven sent. I have suffered from moderate acne for the last two years and the doctor put me on Tazorac. My only problem is that I had not tried it sooner. I used to be so ashamed of my acne and now it's all gone. Tazorac is not really all that great with scars, though, but I've only used it for about two months. The first month was absolutely horrid and I got many new pimples and was quite unsure of whether or not it would work, but now my skin is AMAZING. Trust me, all of this is coming from a girl who's used PROACTIV, Retin-a, Dr. Ci Labo, every possible Neutrogena and over the counter product out there. I use the .1% cream and it is really oily but i put it on in the afternoon or early evening after my shower and let it soak in for several hours and the next morning my skin is soft and clear. I adore it! Ask you doctor for the cream because it is not as harsh and should work well. I was flaky at first but not any more.

helped my acne and scars for the first year, but i now think it could possibly be causing new scars.
Cons:
Be extremely careful with the amount of tazorac applied-keep it down to a pea-size! The drying is excessive. I almost think that the scars are better than the redness/flakiness i now have. Beware of traveling to dry places-tazorac DOES NOT like it!!!
Ive been on tazorac for about a year and a half, and it seemed to work well up until this point. I just went on vacation to Yellowstone, and the dry air there in combination with the sun and tazorac wreaked havoc on my skin! I now have cracked skin that will simply not go away. Its been this way for over a week now. I am afraid that when the skin peels off, it will create new red scars! Has anyone else experienced this? i wonder if i maybe used too much without really noticing...I would recommend a less powerful form of retin-a that will not cause so much damage. I cant even tell where my skin is underneath all of the flakes! Moisturizers have not helped either! I am getting laser done next week and am discontinuing tazorac use FOR GOOD!

unfortunately does not work for everyone. i wish i had not tried it because it left me with many many acne scars.
i realize that this medicine works for some people, but it was really HORRIBLE for me. my dermatologist gave this to me for mild-moderate acne. after the first couple of weeks, my skin broke out really badly, which i expected it would after reading reviews of it. then i waited another month, then another, then another, and as the time passed the acne just got worse. i really thought i'd see SOME improvement but there was none. i stopped using it and as soon as i did, my skin became a lot better, aside from huge amounts of red acne scars from all the zits tazorac gave me. maybe i was allergic or have super sensitive skin or something, but it was so awful that it made me not want to go out in public.

THIS STUFF IS AMAZING!! It makes your skin feel and looks smooth, helps with scars after using it for a while
