Pros:

This product does work. The antibiotic works as an anti-bacterial along with the Benzoyl Peroxide. If using the preparation that is mixed at the druggist, it contains ethyl alcohol which doesn't dry out the skin feels cool and refreshing!

Cons:

Must be refrigerated, so, out of sight out of mind. Especially if you run a busy schedule. It does bleach clothing and bedding, so use it with caution. Expensive. It also leaves a chalky film on your face, so use an oil-free moisturizer with it.

Without insurance, the preparation I purchased would have cost 125 dollars. With my insurance, it was 11.75. I wouldn't have bought this product if it was not covered. However, since I am lucky enough to get it at a decent price, I do use it and I do like it.

Pros:

This stuff is a GOD send. I've had acne since I was ELEVEN years old and I am now 31. I had decided that acne was just something I was going to ahve to live with. This has changed my life.

Cons:

Bleaches clothes and bedding.

After suffering with a lifelong battle with acne I went to see a "last resort" dermatologist. This man is in his late 70's and is preparing to retire. He told me that all I would need was Benzamycin. I was skeptical because I had been going to a "cutting edge" derm who is in his late 20's and was supposed to be well versed in all of the latest cures. This seventy year old derm CLEARED my skin!!!!! I will NEVER be without Benzamycin again! I am SO excited to have learned of this product and would recommend it to ANYONE who suffers with what seems to be "incurable" acne. It's absolutely WONDERFUL!!! It takes about three days to start to see results but I haven't seen a pimple since.

Pros:

Bottom line is that it is THE best product i have ever used for acne followed by Acne 101e, it also resonably cheap and does'nt need a massive misleading marketing campaign like most and works much better than them at a cheaper price.

Cons:

It tends to dry out the skin at first but your skin should gradually adapt, although fairer skin takes slightly longer than darker skin.

I suffered from acne since i was about thirteen and never really went to see a specialist about it till i was about seventeen. I wish i went earlier because this stuff really works, i like many tried all the products on the market and forked out a fair bit of doe for treatment for my acne which was gradually taking over my life and none of them worked as well as Benzamycin. I had moderate to sometimes severe acne but after using Benzamycin for about a week my skin showed massive improvements and after two was completely clear. I would highly recommend this product. Also for people in the UK where Benzamycin has discontinued you can buy it from the States (not canada as they require prescriptions and your doctor won't give it to you i've tried) over the internet for about $52.00 including p&p which is about £27.00 just google it and you will eventually find a company which ships it over to you, well worth it if you ask me. Good Luck Everyone ;)

Pros:

Best topical acne medication I've ever used. I saw results in a week and it kept my face clear as long as I used it. I recommend Benzamycin PAK -- you can take them when you travel and they don't need to be refrigerated.

Cons:

Not much, maybe that it dries your skin out for the first few weeks. I'd rather have dry skin than a face full of pimples!

Don't waste your money on drug store on-the-spot treatments. Invest in this prescription instead! You'll save both money and grief in the long run.

Pros:

clears up acne/blemishes fast, and reduces size and lifetime of existing acne. also very good preventative..has reduced the average number of pimples on my face compared to just using Benzoyl Peroxide (Regimen) alone.

Cons:

Bleaches fabric and hair! This is particularly annoying for me, because I use it overnight after I have taken a shower and going to bed. I do not use it during the day as I find it too drying and makes my skin oily with that much use. Regfrigeration

I am 22 and have been dealing with acne since I was about 14. I have mild to moderate acne (of course, acne becomes worse right before and during my period). It was advised that when I first started using this to just use it once a day, and then move up to twice a day after a couple weeks. I did go up to 2 times a day but it ended up being too harsh on my skin and made it really oily (plus the fact that I had to wear sunscreen). Now I apply it all over my face in a thin layer at night after I've showered. This is by far the only product that has worked so well for me, but has not completely gotten rid of my acne (*sob*). It has noticeably cleared up and is really effective in zapping emerging pimples. For the price this is an amazing product. The only thing that annoys me is that the BP in it bleaches fabric and I'm finding myself purchasing new pillowcases every other 3-4 months :(

Pros:

Clears Skin Fast.

Cons:

Burning sensation and dryness along with flacking of the skin near the jaw line!

it works if you keep up usage and get over the burning and dryness. applying moisturizers 30 mins. after use seems to help but shows downfalls of some small pimples reocurring.

Pros:

It works very well. Benzamycin Paks come in single dose packages that do not have to be refrigerated.

Cons:

It can leave a white chalky appearance on your skin. I can only use it once a day or my skin will become excessively dry. The biggest con to me is that it has bleached some shirts and my bathroom towels.

It works and is worth putting up with the cons. However, I really wish I knew of some other product that worked as well without the bleaching effect.

Pros:

It clears your skin up well. For teens&Adults.
It gets rid of acne FAST

Cons:

When it drys it goes white and if you put it in the "T" zone area some times u may get it near your mouth and it tastes bad

This is the overall best acne cream. It clears your skin up in a week for some but for me the redness went down when i woke up and in three days my blemishes we totally gone. This product is WAYY less costy then the other products like proactive. Where i get it its 29$ but with my Insurance its bascally $3.49 the only problem is you have to use it for a while other wise acne comes back. But no matter what dont think because you have this cream that you can go pig out on bad foods eat healthy and you'll have a wonderful healthy looking complection! I have recommended this product to people who have acne and say the results of this product are wonderful

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
