Pros:

Definitely keeps the acne at bay; takes a couple of weeks to truly kick in, but that's how our skin is!

Cons:

If used too much it causes redness, dries, and if using too much it irritates the hell out of your skin!

It is a good prescription to get, but I'm running out, so I won't know what will happen when I stop using it...

Pros:

Reduced the Size of pimples. Also reduced Redness in my T-zones

Cons:

Made face oily. Excessive Sweat. Dried out lips. Sensitive to Sunlight.

I applied it once in the morning and right before bed. I have not seen AMAZING results. I used Proactiv and saw quicker and better results but I built up a tolerant level to Proactiv. I was also prescribed an oral anti-biotic to jump start the diminishing of my acne which I believed helped more than the lotion.

Pros:

Easy to apply

Cons:

The more i started using it, i started breaking out more and my acne looked darker. It was really hard to cover it up.

I'm trying everything. The doctor said i should be on Accutane, or to try this birth control but I'm kind of scared using them. I'm not sure if i'm using it wrong, i just gave up using Clindamycin. I'm going try to start using it again, and give it some patience. The first two days, it was doing okay and than more pimples started to arise.

Pros:

No drying, soft matte skin, no redness, no burns, peels scars & leaves no scars!

Cons:

Expensive, can't be bought over the counter.

I think the product I've been using is a bit different (not too sure). Mine is Clindamycin Hydrochloride 1%. I finally got the courage to go to the doctor after dealing with not-very-good over-the-counter products. I was using Salicylic Acid for about a week. I saw slow improvements with Salicylic Acid. So I decided to switch to Benzoyl Peroxide. After a night, Benzoyl Peroxide assisted the acne to go away faster. It literally peeled off the unbearable dark spots left by acne and induced redness. The next day, I was a bit skeptical not knowing much about Benzoyl Peroxide so I went to my doctor to prescribe me acne treatment that was best suited for me. I was prescribed with Clindamycin Hydrchloride 1% lotion & Doxycycline Hydrocloride pills. It worked great! The pimples went smaller dramatically over a night of usage and scars still peeled off. These two products did not dry my skin at all! Gave me baby skin! I'm really ecstatic and would recommend it!

Pros:

doesn't seem to dry out face, make-up goes on smoothly after application of the clindamycin lotion, no major cyst like breakouts

Cons:

Can make your skin appear very oily

I have only been using this for about a week, so far it seems I have had no cyst-like acne breakouts on my cheeks. I do notice irritation on my jaw-line, but I believe this is due to the tazorac lotion irritating my skin, which is part of the reason my Derm put me on this lotion twice a day. IT does make your skin look very greasy/oily, so during the day oil blotter sheets are a must! Will do a follow up in a few weeks to give a more accurate review of this product.

Pros:

It cleared up my skin for about 3 years with an occasional stubborn pimple.

Cons:

Stopped working all of a sudden. Had mild stomach aches / some nausua.

I think after a while you become immune to it and it stops working. Nothing lasts forever...

Pros:

Solution dabs on easily. Excellent when used before a BP treatment.

Cons:

Clinda. gel made my skin oily but the solution, which contains alcohol kept it from getting too bad. Probably should not be used alone as an acne treatment.

It helps but doesnt clear acne up on its own.

Pros:

works for the time being...

Cons:

it works short-term only. it's very possible to work up a resistance to it.

don't use this, there are other products on the market that will make you feel better and get better results.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
