Pros:

This DOES work! you start noticing it within the first week! i have really bad acne, lots of huge bumps that stay on my face for weeks at a time and tiny ones all over my face too that did not want to go away. i am taking the pills and im applying it to my face in the gel form which i have a perscription for too. its wonderful! i have been using it for about 2 weeks and my face is almost completely clear...and the only kind of bumps left are very small. im so happy now

Cons:

none!

TAKE THIS! ITS AMAZING!

Pros:

I had suffered acne for about a year and started noticing it was just getting worse and worse. So I went to my doctor and she prescribed this. I absolutely love it! I get compliments on my skin all the time now. I virtually have no zits expect around "that time of the month" and even then I only have one or two and they are sooo tinyyy. I have major confidence in my skin now. I used to be self conscious but now I dont have to wear hardly any makeup. I love it sooo much! So keep using it!

Cons:

I really don't have any except your face gets dry but if you exfoliate and moisturize your skin.. then your good :)

You should def. take it. It's wonderful.

Pros:

Powerful

Cons:

Did not work. I still had acne after using it with a benzoyl peroxide wash. Stings skin a lot after using and very strong smell (not a good smell).

Do not use. I have tried duac, accutane, clindamyacin, tetracycline, differin, and other medicines for acne. This one is no different.

Pros:

Clears up most acne fast (about a week), prevents breakouts, doesn't dry or damage skin. Very cheap.

Cons:

only helps inflammatory acne. my pores are still clogged. (maybe this will change in time) strong smell, fumes burn your eyes.

Very good for those struggling with inflammatory acne, fast, effective and cheap. It's worth the cash and the trip to the dermatologist.

Pros:

After three months of use, I have virtually no whiteheads or pustules.

Cons:

Dries skin like crazy.

So far so good. I am using this in conjunction with an oral antibiotic (minocyclin) and cream (retin-a). While the whiteheads and pustules have virtually disappeared, I still have cysts that form every month or two and those require injections. All of these medications are available as generic, so monthly costs are low. My skin isn't perfect, but it's so much better than it's ever been. My skin tends to dry out on it's own in winter - so we shall see how this season treats it with the combination of medication and nature. I may have to invest in a stronger moisturizer.

Pros:

Clears some acne.

Cons:

it is a tier 3 drug on my insurance plan. Tier 3 drugs have a $50 co-pay.

I have been using it for about a month. We will see how well it works in the long run.

Pros:

cleared my face for like, a weeek, easy to apply

Cons:

made me break out the worsttt after the 1-2 week period. kept using it for a month but had to stop cos i was getting so much white heads and pustules.

didnt work for me, but it may work for some people. it was mixed with cetaphil lotion :S

Pros:

it cleared up most of my acne.

Cons:

it dried out my face to the point of peeling. it made me extremely sensitive to the sun. my skin was constantly tight and dry.

this will clear up most acne, but the price you pay is not worth it. it made my skin so dry that i was constantly peeling, like a sunburn. it was painful and tight. i became extremely sensitive to sunlight. it also smells pretty bad.

Pros:

I no longer wake up wondering how many new pimples I have! It worked relatively quickly. I began using it in the AM and Retin A at night, but the Retin-A dried my skin out horribly (pealing, redness, etc.). I now use it before bed (the solution).

Cons:

Somewhat strong smell - I would also recommend that if you have sensitive skin to use only once a day (and not with other acne meds).

Great! Highly recommend and wish I had known about this YEARS ago!!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
