Pros:

Nice look?

Cons:

Smell bad doesn't really work

I used this product for about 4 months with no results of clear glowing skin like they say it would do in the commercials. It really was a waste of money and it didn't help at all.

Pros:

Works Fab and cheap

Cons:

None

I am 27 and used this product for a little while when I was a freshman in college and it worked well then. I stopped breaking out for years and then I swithed my birth control pills (TMI) and my face started to break out. I started using this product again and now my face is as smooth as a babies bottom. No bumps at all. Just apply twice a day and you are good. Best product on the market!

Pros:

I've been using hte clinique 3-step program for 2 years and just recently switched to the acne solutions kind. I switched 3 days ago and I have yet to see a new pimple sprout up since starting. My skin also feels super soft!

Cons:

The Step-3 lotion can be drying so I recommend using the dramatically different GEL on top on any dry/tight areas

It works! People also think Clinique is so expensive but really is isn't when you consider how well it work and how long it lasts!!! I bought a $15 bar of the face soap and I've had it for over two years...and I use it twice a day! Right now you can get all three steps of the acne solutions in a kit for $42 which I think is completely reasonable. Clean and Clear and all that kind of stuff may be less expensive but it doesn't last and long and it isn't as effective.

Pros:

It works great.

Cons:

have to really be consistant using every morning and night

This product works great for me. Maybe the reason there are so many complaints regarding red and itchy and burnt skin is that the regular formula is too harsh for their skin. I too had the same problem and tried their sensitive formula. You have to order by phone. This works just as well and I have not had any problems with red, itchy, and burnt skin since.

Cons:

it made mah face all red and itchy

even though it made mah face red and itchy it did work..i think if i didnt have sensitive skin i think pro active would have worked for me.

Pros:

Easy to use, pretty standard 3 step treatment.

Cons:

It made my acne worse. I was just trying to get rid of a few breakouts around my hairline. Now I am constantly getting a ton of little white zits on my nose and chin that I never had before and are much more noticeable than what I was trying to fix!

From what I've seen, it works great for people with really bad acne. If you just have light acne, it is not for you - everyone who was at the same level of "moderate acne" as me seems to have the same problem with getting much worse acne after using Proactiv.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
