Adult Acne
Getting use to this product takes time, but it was worth the wait. I have been using this product since Fall 2012 and have little to no skin issues now. As maintenance, I only need to use it once a day and can even skip a day here or there. However, if I completely stop then it starts to come back. I used Accutane many years ago and due to never ending stress I started to break out again, but thanks to the Regimen I have been able to control it and it cost less than the $65 a month I was spending on a prescription from my Dermatologists.

Finally... clear skin!

Pros:

Huge tube lasts forever
Amazing product
Worth every penney

I am still in complete disbelief that my skin is clear! I developed uncontrollable cystic acne after I moved from Colorado to Florida. After trying nearly every product under the sun (prescription and non-prescription), I resigned to the fact that my skin did not get along with humidity. I was so devastated and humiliated at the condition of my skin. Then, my aunt told me about Acne.org and I decided to give the regimen a shot. I used Cetaphil facial cleanser, Acne.org BP treatment, and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream for my moisturizer. After three months my skin was clear. I started using Acne.org's AHA+ after three months, which has helped to fade the acne scarring. It's been six months since I started the regimen and my skin is still clear! Words can't express how grateful I am for this product. Thank you Acne.org!

Depending on how severe your acne is...

Pros:

Gets rid of a couple of spots
expensive (£95 for cleanser, treatment and moisturiser

Cons:

VERY DRYING
Doesn't work if you have severe acne
Takes time applying and waiting it too dry

I started using this product in September 2013 and it is now nearly February 2014. I have severe acne and I think that this product is ok. I would only recommend it if you have light or mild acne as I'm afraid you need something stronger if your acne is more than that. I found that this product is VERY drying and when I woke up in the morning, my skin was never the same as I went to sleep in which was disappointing. I REALLY wanted this product to work as I read amazing reviews but unfortunetly it didn't :( I spend £95 in total, with the cleanser, treatment and moisturiser which I think is ok considering I have lots left. I found this regimen time-consuming as you have to wait at least 5/10 mins for the products to dry and when the products do dry, my skin was really itchy and very red so I hated going to work with my face looking like a tomato. You can't wear any make-up which using the treatment as your skin is extremely dry and flaky and it got to the point where it wouldn't even apply without sitting on my face funny. It did however, get rid of a few spots but not as much as I thought it would for the money I was paying and it took time for the spots to fade. I thought applying this would mean that I wouldn't get new spots but I ended up with more spots then I had hoped for, even months after the "purging" stage, overall I would only recommend if you have mild acne, severe acne you will need something stronger so don't waste your time or money if you have severe acne. I'm now going to begin Roacctaune next month and I wish I did sooner.

Ok product

Pros:

Clears short term acne
Reduces swelling
Effective

Cons:

Cause redness and irritation
Skin had a burnt look to it
Not a long term product

I started using this product over night, it cleared up my acne for a while but then it started to make my skin feel dry. I figured it was doing its job and I expected some dryness and flaking so I just used extra moisturizer. Then my mom pointed out that my skin looked almost burnt in a very unhealthy way. I was switching this product with a different benzoyl peroxide product. I'm not sure if this made a difference, but after stoping on the spot acne treatment the burnt skin went away.

Product used: The Regimen
Absolute Miacle !!

Pros:

Does what it says
Clears completely
Leaves the skin glowing

Cons:

Dryness and Flakiness( for few weeks until you get used to)

I am so glad after seeing a big difference in my skin. I never had severe acne before but recently 6 months ago due to stress , my face had few pimples here and there and it then grew more. I have tried different home made remedies as well as I tried using Clearasil products but the product involved scrubbing and that made my skin even worse. One day I met a friend who had acne problem in the past and when I met her and her skin was perfect and glowing. I asked her how and then I came to know about this miracle . I immediately ordered the products, though it took a while for my kit to come. Second kit I ordered was here in 3 days. Very Impressive . Initially I started with the Cleanser , Treatment and moisturizer and my skin went from oily to dry and the moment I started increasing the dosage of BP my skin was experiencing extreme flakiness. But after about 5 weeks I was used to BP and my skin started reducing on itchiness. As Dan says more itchiness more acne, less itchiness less acne. Gradually I introduced after 6 weeks The Regimen Kit Plus which has AHA+ and Jojoba Oil. My skin cleared drastically. Its been 2 months and 2 weeks now and I still have few weeks to go to get my skin clear completely. I am going to stick to this products as they are perfect for the skin. But I totally recommend this product to everyone. Follow the step as instructed and it will work wonders.

One month of usage, happy!

Pros:

prevents new pimples
less oily skin

Cons:

Moisturizer smells, cannot be used with your significant other
Itchy face & neck

I started using it on December 16th, in am (in pm, I was using DIfferin) for a week or two, and afterwards only Regimen (no Differin). It made difference already after the first week! However, I did not follow the dosages of BP and instead listened o my skin - I have tried using more BP but then as soon as I did, my face hurt so much that it was painful to talk! Keep in mind, my acne is mild and only on my chin and forehead, the rest of my face is normal skin. Currently, I only apply it on spots and I have no pimples on my forehead, and 2 pimples on my chin (used to be 10!). After 2 weeks of using, my face and for some reason neck (though I did not apply any BP on neck) became extreeemly itchy so I had to tell myself to stop scratching it. Now it seems like my skin calmed down since I am not trying to increase BP dosage.

I have used Proactive for several years and have nothing but success. I started using it in my 50's because I had occasional breakouts and needed something consistent. It has worked well for me!

Pros:

Clears my face quickly
I can customize my order as needed
Less expensive than others I've used

Cons:

It will stain certain fabrics

As I got older, I noticed that I still had occasional breakouts each month. Nothing I tried seemed to work. I decided to give this a try. So far, I have no complaints. I do not live close to where I can go in and buy, so I set up on auto delivery. It's been great. If I need an order changed, all I have to do is call and have it customized to my needs, especially if I get a build up of a particular product. I'm 65 years old and will continue to use this as long as I think it's necessary!

It works but it needs a lot of time

Pros:

It works

Cons:

It needs time

I have been using Benzoyl peroxide 10% for 4 months and it let my face clean (I only had some red marks) but after the summer my acne came back so now I'm using it in combination of topical isotretinoin. It works but it need time, give it 3 months. It has never irritate my skin.

Amazing results but for how long?

Pros:

clears skin/complexion/cystic acne
scars diminish over time
affordable

Cons:

dry & burning during first wks
must follow regimen correctly
acne shows up after stopping

I've suffered from acne since the tender age of 13 now 35. I have sensitive combination skin. Very oily in the summer & dry/oily in the winter. Anyone that suffers from Acne knows how it affects our social lives and self esteem. As I grew older and had more money to spend on treating it, I tried OTC products (you name it), proactive (worked for less then a yr), chemical peels (only a temp solution & very expensive), prescription drugs, which didn't help (taxing on your internal health), sodium sulfacetamide 10% and Sulfur 5% cloths. I finally gave the REGIMEN (wondering why my dermatologist never recommended it) a try and it's changed my life. In the first few wks it would burn for a few seconds after applying, drying, peeling, but after two months the changes were amazeballs! I have no signs of acne, cystic acne & even the black heads on my nose are gone. I still get a small zit during that time of the month but thats it & clears away qkly. Normally my skin would flare up everywhere especially on the sides of my face. I recommend this product to everyone, however, knowing your skin helps you determine how much BP to start with. I started with half an index finger length since my face is sensitive. Since my skin can also be naturally oily I don't use much of the moisturizer & only had to use the jojoba oil during the first few wks for the tough peeling/dry days. Jojoba oil is great for my cuticles & other things so I keep it around. There are days that I feel comfortable enough to use a whole index finger length of BP. On days that I'm peeling I use a facial brush while I cleanse with the regimen cleanser. This helps loosen up your peeling flakes & cell turnover (once a month)..it's been about 8+ months of using the regimen religiously and exactly. My main concern now is how long will this miracle last and does your skin eventually become immune to the BP? Please comment below if you've been using this for over a yr & still loving it. Thx Update: after about 6 months of using these products I have noticed rash type bumps all over my forehead and face. I tried giving my face a break and it just went crazy! I am now back to searching for something else because it appears that this can be harsh. Your skin will also act out immediately after you stop.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
