Pros:

Works fast and the price is cheap.

Cons:

Can often cause skin to feel very dry.

After trying a lot of acne treatments none of them seemed to work, so i switched to oxy as a last resort i wasnt really expecting it to work but boy was a surprised it worked within a week. It does cause my skin to feel a little dry but thats nothing a little face cream cant fix.

Pros:

Skin softer, clears up for awhile

Cons:

Toner leaves face look oily, Stops working after awhile.

I bought it around Christmas, because I get serious acne. I tried it out and it wasn't working. It took me forever, and was showing no results. I started taking amoxycillin and ran out of what i was washing my face with before, so I just used the rest of my acnefree. & it worked. My whole face cleared up. I've been using it since, but now its stopped working.

Pros:

It did start to reduce on major pimple on neck.

Cons:

I have NEVER had a problem with benzoyl peroxide, yet after applying once at night for two days, on day two I woke up with my face swollen along with eyes, itchy, looking like I just received a very bad chemical peel and feeling like I was on fire!

If you feel you need to use this product only spot use.

Pros:

Clears up skin a little

Cons:

More pimples. turns pimples into whiteheads. doesn't work all day. leaves face greasy. i found myself using it more than twice a day, and even then, the acne got worse. I switched to this from Oxy, but Oxy actually kept my face clean for sometime.

Well below average.

Pros:

It cleared up my skin and kept it clear as long as I was using it.

Cons:

Sometimes I would get a little dry. The oil free moisturizer doesnt work well.. I just used a different brand on top for more moisture.

It really works! Combating the dryness is worth the trouble since my skin is so clear.

Pros:

- MOST effective treatment I've used for moderate/severe acne
- easy access - they have it for sale in most drug stores
- great price

Cons:

- I always run out of the lotion! They should sell the 3 steps separately

GREAT product! It works better than Proactiv for me, and much better than even prescription acne medication. It's what I go back to after I try some new holistic acne stuff because I know it will clear me up and stay that way.

Pros:

Kills off nasty pustules and red spots. Dries out oil from the skin. Makes skin feel cleaner.

Cons:

Redness, Flakiness.

The side effects of the gel are preferable by far to the acne that it treats and can be managed with a moisturizer. For me, this 10% Benzoyl Peroxide gel is significantly more effective than the 2.5% concentration. It varies from person to person however and skin sensitivity must be taken into account. This gel cleared stubborn acne that I had for years. In the past, shaving has triggered my acne, so I use OXY shaving cream, which contains 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide.

Pros:

Inexpensive, One Step, Works on Stubborn Acne, Works on Hormonal Skin

Cons:

NONE!

I've used every acne product on the market from the cheapest to the most expensive. I've also used prescription drugs and seen a dermatologist. Nothing ever worked for me. I read a review on this product and thought I'd give it a shot as my last attempt. It worked immediately and has worked for the last four months I've been using. I used it while I nursed my son, after I stopped nursing, and while I've started my menstral cycle and started birth control. With all those hormonal changes, I was afraid my acne would become immune to the product. Not at all. I would recommend this to anyone. It's the best ever! At the lower cost, I would definitely say you should give it a try if you have moderate to severe acne. I HAD severe acne. However, don't expect it to clear up your scars. Note: If I do get a pimple, I will put Bye-Bye Blemish Drying Lotion on it overnight and it's gone in the AM. Since using C&C I haven't had more than one pimple at a time. HUGE change from what I've had.

Pros:

Packaging was nice.

Cons:

proactiv did NOT work. it was purchased for my teen son, he followed all step appropriately with my help for a month and saw no improvement whatsoever.

On top of paying for the first trial offer which didn't work. i was sent out another package, for $48.94 (cdn), three months later. I called their customer care and told them i would send it back because i didnt want more product as the first package did NOT work. Customer care told me to mark the package " refused - return to sender". And i would be refunded. I did that in January 2009. This is now March 2009, they say that have not received the package and will NOT return my money without receiving the package. How convenient ! Now they want me to produce a receipt that it was actually mailed to them but yet when i contacted them to return the product, they did not tell me do so then. I might be out $ 48.94 for this product, but i will continue to tell all that this product is a SCAM !! BEWARE, PROACTIV DOES NOT WORK AND THEY DO NOT RETURN YOUR $$$ !! I am now out a total cost of $76.89 with results !!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
