Made my skin worse,
I bought proactiv+ with confidence knowing I would be under a money back guarantee if I didn't like it. I ordered the Teen kit. First off, they don't even offer a shipping address option. My billing and shipping addresses are different. I live in SC and my package got shipped to my parents place in Ohio! Customer service claimed they couldn't make any changes even after an hour of me ordering. Finally after my mom re-mailed the package to me in SC I was excited to start the kit. First off, I used this everyday for a whole 30 days. I used the body bar for my back once a day with my shower. I used the 1/2/3 step products after I got out of the shower. During this 30 day period. I NOTICED NOTHING! and it looked like it was making my face worse. My back was clearing up, but very slowly. The products were too harsh for my face no matter the reformulation of proactiv+ so I QUIT and went all natural with the Oil Cleansing Method and organic Apple Cider Vinegar toner. After I stopped using Proactiv+ I got some cystic acne on my back, like 2 giant pimples on each shoulder blade. They were painful, but I let them be and after a week they were gone. DO NOT use proactiv+ because, 1. the products could potentially make your skin WORSE because of all the benzoyl peroxide and chemicals in the products. 2. Even after the 60 day trial you won't get your money back until 4-6 weeks later....And even then who know what proactiv+ customer service will say. I just better get my $40 back

Horrible Skin Reaction in some areas
I have had horrible cystic acne on my jaw line and neck with some occasional pimples on my cheeks. I have been desperate and trying anything and everything. I should mention that my skin is very sensitive and I figured I would react to this in a bad way because it is maximum strength, but I still wanted to try it. The thick acne on my jaw line and neck has reduced significantly, however, my eyes and skin on my cheeks are swollen and red (I look ridiculous but I am still coming in to work LOL). I also put some on my nose and forehead and that doesn't seem to be a problem. I'll continue using it only in the areas it didn't affect.

Horrible!!
I have tried the original Proactiv and the Proactiv plus. They both did not work at all! Not to mention the cost is ridiculous for what it doesn't do. The only thing it did do was burn and ruin my skin. If anything it gave me more breakouts because my skin was so irritated. It made me feel terrible!! Thankfully I gave up on it and my skin is slowly recovering and clearing with more natural products. You do not have to feel a burn for a product to work!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON PROACTIV!!!!

I'd rather eat dirt than deal with proactiv

Cons:

product made skin worse
service is horrible
charges you without consent

First off why can't I rate a 0? Anyways, STAY AWAY!! Like everyone else I had seen all of the commercials and it finally got to my head, so I called to order. Everything was great. Got my order on time, everything was included, and they had lots of information in the box. It had been a couple weeks and my skin was getting WORSE and multiple estheticians at my work told me to cancel my order. So I called before my 30 days was up to cancel. The guy said ok I'm sorry you didn't like the product but I will cancel your account. Only to find a proactiv box sitting on the front porch a week later and $30 taken out of my account. So I called again and another person assured me that my account was canceled but when I had called the first time, the order was already shipped and the money will be refunded when they received the box back. (I had refused the package and made the mailman take it back so I didn't have to pay to reship it) A month goes by thinking my account was canceled when BOOM another charge but no package. I called AGAIN. Apparently when I signed up, I opted to have a 3 month supply sent to me(which was the package I refused and sent back) but be charged once every month for 3 months, which I didn't because I only wanted to try it. They told me sometimes the process takes some time and not to worry, it will be refunded. The next month, CHARGE and no refund. I call yet again this time with an attitude telling them to stop taking money out of my account. The lady told me they had received the box and it will now take up to 6 weeks to have the money refunded. Ok fine. Then next month, CHARGE. I call for a fourth time demanding that I speak to a supervisor, which I never did. This lady tells me that 2 days ago I was refunded $89.85. But 5 days ago they took out another $30. She told me that it has been refunded it must not be showing on my bank account yet. So I will wait 3 days. If there is no refund on my card, I will be calling a supervisor and telling him I am about to contact my local news company to people know to NEVER buy this product.

Best product I've ever found
This product is so effective. it can be harsh but the other products I use are super mild. I rub a tiny amount into any pimples I have and leave it overnight. I rinse it off in the morning with the Aveeno moisturizing bar and my pimples are shrunk and almost completely gone the next day! Can be drying but a good moisturizer does the trick.

AHHHHH I FOUND SOMETHING THAT WORKS!!!

Pros:

works
dries up pimple
doesn't sting as bad as salicylic acid

Cons:

can be a little overdrying
dried white

It's awesome! It starts drying up pimples as soon as you put it on. Usually, by morning it brings the pimple to a head. By day two or three, it starts scabbing over, and then it falls off. I had severe acne from oil cleansing and this is the only thing that has worked so well and so fast! I was scared to try it at first and waited 3 months before trying. I wish I tried it earlier because it would have stopped the acne from spreading so much. Better late than never I guess.

It's really working

Pros:

Reduces acne
Feels amazing on your skin

Cons:

Makes pimples a bit red

I started using it when I only had a few pimples and when the acne got really bad I used a different product but it was really working so I tried going back to clean and clear and this product really did improve my skin slowly in a few days I'm already seeing clear spots and the acne is getting less visible

Don't order online!
I have been using proactiv for 8 years and I have always ordered off of QVC or went to a kiosk in the mall. I decided to order off the actual website, and they scammed me into having it refilled monthly. No where did I see that I would be getting charged an outrageous amount every 3 weeks as they please and shipping it out. I called and they told me there is a resupply order already in the mail and I told them I did not want it, so they said I could ship it back and get my money back....that is ridiculous, by the time I ship it back I will lose money anyway! Proactiv's website is a scam! Order from QVC or find a kiosk at the mall!

Gets rid of 70% of acne

Pros:

Gets rid of 70% of acne within a month
Light formula, doesn't cause excessive peeling
Can easily wear make-up on top of it

Cons:

Super expensive
Still get breakouts

I started using this as a replacement for a British BP brand Panoxyl 2.5% that went out of stock last year. It's sold primarily in Aus and NZ and cost a bomb to get shipped over ( £10 a tube!) But I am more than happy to pay this because it works. I have PCOS-related acne (so very cystic) that still breaks out around that time of month, but 70% of the time this stuff keeps me clear. It can also be quite 'mattifying' if you put lots on. One thing to say about this above and beyond most brands of acne treatments is that it is very light, and you can wear foundation on top of it with it peeling horribly underneath of looking obvious, which is a must for me. Overall, it will control angry cystic spots when coupled with good moisturizer and cleanser (I use Cetaphil), but like most brands it will not get rid of them 100%.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
