Pros:

Inexpensive
Clear Directions
Money back guarantee

Cons:

Dried my face like crazy
Didnt help with the pimples
Got new pimples in different places than my problem areas

I tried max clarity thinking that it would help because my face really wasnt thatttt bad, but now it is worse. When i called customer service to cancel my next order, they told me that it takes 4-6 weeks for maximum results, and well, it has been 4 and my face is worse than when i started using it. I got better results from AcneFree which you can buy at Meijer. Good thing it was cheap, if it wasnt, i would be reallllyy mad.

Pros:

Works without irritating my sensitive skin

I realized the other day that I've been using this product for over a decade. I had pretty decent skin as a teen, but in college I started to get moderate to moderately severe acne. However, I also have sensitive skin, so most acne treatments actually made the acne worse (or gave me a different kind) I never went the dermatologist route, but I tried everything over the counter. I caved to the the commercials and was trying out Proactive. It was working, but I couldn't stomach the expense and the extra products I had to buy. Then I stumbled onto Carly's on Ebay. Now, my skin rarely breaks out, and usually only when I've been using it inconsistently. As I've aged, I've really appreciated that it so mild that it doesn't add to the daily wear and tear. I'm really excited to discover they now have anti-aging products - I can't wait to try them!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Made my face red and irritated, dried out my skin so bad that it peeled and was blotchy, Made my acne problem from slight to extreme. I experienced the worst acne in my life when I tried these products for 2 months. Stopped using them and my acne cleared up, still have red scarring from acne caused from this product, in which I never experienced in my life.

Do NOT waste your money and ruin your skin by using this product. The skin specialist said that your skin will go through a cleaning period in which you will experience more acne, but this is not acceptable.

Pros:

-process was quick & easy to use
(process goes faster if you use the deep cleanser and body wash while in the shower so you don't have to re-wet your face in the morning)
-skin felt smooth
-lightened redness
-is clearing up acne
-the only product that has worked this well for me.
-doesn't smell bad

Cons:

-i'm not thrilled about using a product that has to be ordered online and billed automatically
-dries out skin if moisturizer isn't used
-foam comes out FAST
-i received a minor chemical burn from using way too much of this product, but that was my fault. i got excited that it was working so well and overused the product thinking that my face could handle it
-contains alcohol which dries skin (i would prefer to use a product without alcohol)
-blackheads still apparent

this product really works for me. my acne isn't completely cleared up, but is getting there. it is important to be patient with any acne product since it can take up to four months to become completely clear. although i like this product, i am going to discontinue using it and follow 'The Regimen' instead because i'd rather use drug store products and not have to worry about automatic billing. i plan to use the recommended drug store products on this site and then possibly moving on to dan's products if i see results. i'm also adding zinc and omega-3 supplements based on the great reviews i read and affordable price. i'll probably use the biore strips to clear the blackheads on my nose. if this new regimen doesn't work, i'll go back to max clarity. i have already recommended max clarity and will continue to do so.

Pros:

Gives you an illusion of less ance problems.

Cons:

Burns, turns my face red,
not only it does not work after a period of time, acne problem comes back twice or three times bad as before using proactiv.

My acne problem is worst after using proactiv. Also, proactiv have bad customer service, they keep sending stuff I never ordered. After I refuse to pay, they transfer me to collection agency.

Pros:

Got rid of acne

Cons:

Dried my skin out so bad I had to go get a facial to try and remove built up dried skin. Then the company ships you more solution and charges your account before you get a chance to cancel.

Do not use. Spent more money trying to get my skin back to normal, and had to pay for shipping on product I returned

Pros:

You can feel it fighting the dirt!! I literally can feel my skin getting cleaned and it also gives my skin a great look afterwards!

Cons:

The smell!

My acne was really annoying so I looked for key acne fighting ingredients and found this one has a reasonable amount of bp along with zinc! And it was the smartest choice I made. My acne is finally in control and even my scars are fading:)

Cons:

The product is harsh on skin and the customer service is the worst.

I will never use Proactiv Solution again. My first problem was that the product was much too harsh for my skin, leaving it sore and burning. When I called to cancel it, the phone attendant told me that I was signed into receiving shipments for the next year, But she could change it to the sensitive skin version. That never happened, even after numerous calls. The last time I called, I asked the lady if my year was up and if I could cancel. She had told me I could have canceled at any time and I was not signed into any time frame with them. Once I canceled my account, Proactiv Representative phoned my home 3 times a day, everyday, until I finally became unhinged on the representative and asked to speak to a manager... Poor product and poor service. Nothing left me wanting to run back.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
