No!
Guys, it's been proven that you only need 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. Don't order this, the ordering system is funky and the product has an unnecessary amount of medicine. That much can make your face red amongst other things even though it will clear up your skin.

I wish I had seen this comment before using it. My face is permanently red now and absolutely destroyed.

Overpriced and ineffective
My son has been on this product for months and his skin has actually gotten worse. I understand that sometimes this happens before things get better, unfortunately his situation got worse and stayed that way. All Guthy-Renker products that I have used are overpriced and ineffective. I will never purchase another product associated with this brand. I'm only sorry so much of our hard earned money has been wasted on junk.

rip off
Directions say to use twice [x2] daily and yet a 30 day supply = 2.5 ounces??? I did the math, you would only use 1.2 milliliters per usage to last that long (that's about 1/5 of a table spoon) - impossible to clean a whole face with 1.2 ml and Proactiv knows it.

Pros:

NONE

Cons:

THE WORST SERVICE FROM ANY COMPANY. FAILURE PRODUCT.

Do not get sucked into this product or any introduction rates they may offer. I never received any package from them yet the charged my credit and continued to charge me for continuous service. They have no customer service. All the bad reviews for proactiv are true and deserved.

Pros:

The closest thing to a cure that i've used. I'm 34 and have had acne since i was a teen. I have tried every OTC medicine. Nothing compares to this.

Cons:

None, just be sure to use white towels when drying off or they will discolor

Buy this product. I took about 3 weeks before it started to work. But I was using another product and it does state that it cn take that long to work if yu have been using other products.

Pros:

I love this! It makes my skin feel great. It does not dry it out like most others out there. It works on body acne just as well and not as complicated as other products. Over the last week my acne has stopped forming and is already starting to go away!

Cons:

Smells Odd, but you get used to it.

This is great. I have used for long periods in the past and always have great results. The bottle will easily last for a couple of months even when using on your body. Definitely worth the cost!

Pros:

- Works really fast, and well!
- If applied correctly heals skin fast
- In conjunction with "Differin Cream" a excellent solution

Cons:

- Can leave a white residue when dried after application
- Can irritate sensitive skin (less when moisturised a bit before application) but does subside

I use PanOxyl cream for about two weeks now, it really helped reduce inflammation on my skin and it helped with smoothing the surface. Works really well when used with Differin Cream, the Diffiren is applied at night, wil clean pores form deep down, but unfortunately makes ugly relatively large spots as it's clearing the pore from deep down, the PanOxyl is the excellent in healing the spot and preventing new spots form forming. I apply in the morning after washing, and reapply on the larger spots about 4 hours later, it works really well for me

One more thing! A good moisturiser is a necessity for me too, it is quite drying.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
