Pros:

Very strong stuff
works well on forming zits

Cons:

Drys out skin like crazy

This product MUST be used with a moisturizer. It drys out your skin, but in turn the moistureizer makes skin softer. This product worked okay on exsisting acne, but worked GREAT on appearing acne. I had to reduce the usage to every other day, as my skin was so dried out.

Pros:

Works well, smells pretty good.

Cons:

Expensive, dries out the skin, and you need to buy the pricey green tea moisturizer to treat the dry skin it causes.

I had really bad acne, it didn't work at first and I stopped using it. A few months later, I went to the dermatologist and started taking antibiotics which cleared my face up quite a bit, but I still had some mild acne. I decided to start using Proactiv again and it cleared my face completely. I think it is a great product. The only downer is that it is super expensive and you have to buy the Green Tea Moisturizer which is also sold by Proactiv.

Pros:

It is cheap AND effective!

Cons:

The application process is time-consuming, and it will bleach out all your hand towels

I have tried many acne cures, but this will be the last, as there is no need for me to look any further! It worked like a charm for me. After the initial 8-week period, my skin was clear and I was able to drop down to one application a day (at night).

Pros:

price

Cons:

made my acne WORSE. I broke out even more. It dries out your skin and the cleanser DOESN'T EVEN CLEANSE!!! I really wish I never bought it because my skin has gotten so much worse. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT...SPEND THE MONEY ON SEEING A DERMATOLOGIST.

IT SUCKS...READ MY CON'S ABOVE.

Pros:

Clears your acne eventually

Makes your skin look and feel healthy

Cons:

Wayy to costly

Just not worth it

You have to keep on buying another set of the proactiv solution and if u dont your skin will start getting acne on places you never had acne on

Pros:

Works good and fast.

Cons:

Dried skin.

It worked fast and well. Although I was using it twice a day, it dried my skin. I only use it once a day before bed and my skin is not as dry. It tingles after rinsing, but goes away after a while.

Pros:

Makes your face feel clean I guess

Cons:

The toner burns like heck! Really dried out my face and made it painful for days after using it just once!

I would not use this, I tried it about 3 months ago, was in pain while using it but though my face /skin would get used to it. After maybe a month I stopped using it, still hurt afterwards. 2 nights ago I figured I'd try it again, have not used it since because my face is dry and painful from one time use!

Pros:

Worked at preventing acne for the first few months.

Cons:

The price.
Didn't do much for existing acne.

There are certainly much more affective and reasonably-priced benzoyl peroxide moisturizers out there. Save your money.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
