My daughter swears by this product. She started breaking out in about the 7th grade and nothing we did for her helped until I ran across this on e-bay and took a chance and I'm so thankful I did. Simple to use and very affordable compared to so many other products out there. Over the past summer her face started to break out and I asked are you using the product like it's recommended and she said no, she got lazy for a few days and boy did it show. She is back to clean, smooth skin again. Thank you for such a simple and wonderful product.

Pros:

i tried it for about 2 days it made my skin really irrated! i heard it works for some people but remember we dont all have the same skin types. Proactive didnt work AT ALL for me cause my skin is very sensitive.

Cons:

i dont recomand it cause all the solutiona doing is getting ur skin addicted to keep using it and ya it may clear up ur skin but its getting ur skin addicted to th product! the day u stop using it us face is just gonna get worse

i stoped using it. i went to see a dermontoligist. he gave me some pills and acne cream and iv seen diffrences and im barley on the 4th day hopefully i see big resaults in about 2 months :)

Pros:

My acne did clear up somewhat.

Cons:

When u first use it it irritates your skin sooooo bad and makes it all red and stuff. u have to use it a couple times for your skin to get use to it. also iv heard that it may stop working and thats what im beginnin to see so thats true.

Done spend money on this product. eventually it will stop working and u will have to strart all over again. its not a perminante soulution for acne...but if u have rely sever acne like i did then use it for a couple of months to clear it up then switch to something else so ull have a clean slate to try a dif product, but dont keep on usin it. it will just start to irrritate and dry up ur skin out of nowhere and its just so not worth it.

Pros:

No pros

Cons:

Basically this stuff wrecked my face (and that's sugar coatin it). I got chemical burns on the side of my face and forehead and the only reason I got this stuff was because I was breaking out BAD and thought it would work, what was I thinking!

This stuff kept my acne the same and worsened it I had mild acne so I thought it would work fast but... It didn't remove one pimple I've had the same pimples I did a month ago and got new types of pimples that I have never got before! This stuff sucks I'm starting to use the oil-free acne wash that's redness soothing and I used it for the first time tonight and it feels great! So there's hope:)

Pros:

SMELLS NICE

Cons:

DRIES OUT FACE, MADE ME BRAKE OUT MORE ..

THIS PRODUCT MADE ME BREAKOUT EVEN MORE.. WORST PRODUCT EVER! IT MADE GET ABOUT 2 NEW PIMPLES A DAY AND MADE MY FACE SUPER DRY AT THE SAME TIME! WORST PRODUCT EVER!! DO NOT SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY ON A PRODUCT THATS NOT WORTH IT! NOW I USE CLEAN AND CLEAR AND MY FACE LOOKS MUCH BETTER, BUT I STILL HAVE THE HIDIOUS SCARS FROM THE GREAT PIMPLES THAT CLINIQUE ACNE SOLUTIONS CAUSED ME!

Pros:

Only OTC to work for me

Cons:

Must use it every day or say goodbye to results

Cleared up chest and back acne with consistent usage. Made for very enjoyable summer at the beach.

Pros:

This stuff gets rid of pimples and blackheads fast. It is easy to use and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg

Cons:

ZERO, unless you are like the person above me who has extremely sensitive skin

This is the most effective acne product I have ever used. My sister and I have tried everything from clean and clear to proactiv, scrubs, and cleansers. Terminator 10 works the best above everything else. Try it you won't regret it.

Pros:

The cleanser feels great on my skin and the toner is gentle and doesn't dry out my skin. The spot healing gel works wonders!

Cons:

None

This is a fabulous product. The moisturizer is unnecessary I purchased this product at Nordstrom and the woman who sold it to me told me the moisturizer was not necessary, and she was correct. It is slightly pricey but I highly recommend it considering all the acne products I have tried. In all honesty this product is great but pricey, if you can not afford it proactiv is about half the price, many people say bad things about it but when i used it, it worked well in my opinion I just don't like the roughness of the cleanser making me switch to Clinique.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
