Pros:

none

Cons:

made my face feel like it was on fire, was flaming red with irritation, made it more dry, and made my acne worse, too expensive

NOT A GOOD PRODUCT AT ALL!!! Dont get proactiv!! All it will do is make your acne worse and make your face feel bad. BAD FOR YOUR SKIN. DONT GET TRICKED BY ALL THEIR CELEBRITY ENDORSEMENT!!

Pros:

-worked; cleared up majority of acne in a month
-easy to rinse off and to use

Cons:

-expensive for the quantity of product
-order by phone/online

Product worked for 13 yr old son. Suspect expensive because of commercials promoting product. Free s/h on its website now. Read reviews online that there're other acne products equally effective. Haven't tried Daniel's promoted by this site yet but it looks to have better value.

Pros:

It seemed, at first, like it was working but after about a week it became extremely drying and made my skin red and irritated.

Cons:

Makes acne worse, makes your skin super dry, red and irritated.

They have good marketing.

Pros:

Dries out and clears acne fast!!

Cons:

Redness and flaking, definetly need a good mosituriser

This is amazing stuff!! It works so fast at clearing up spots and acne. Certainly does dry the skin so moisturiser is a must but a small price to pay to clear zits. I have tried many and never found a more effective cream. It was quite expensive here in New Zealand, around $26 for the tube. TRY THIS!!! :-)

Pros:

I use the cream cleanser not the bar soap. I use it without a wash cloth or shower gloves so it's not so harsh on my skin and dry it out. This is a WONDERFUL product recommended by my derm. Runs 10.99 for cream cleanser and 11.99 for can acne

Cons:

Acne foam is great but seems to stop coming out of the can when it's half way empty( stops squirting out).I've had this problem with 4 cans already but the product works so very well I just buy a new can.

Buy this product !!! It's better than proactive or any prescription acne product I've ever used. If you struggle with acne this is great. Just use a light moisturizing lotion like Cetaphil.

Pros:

It freaken dried them pimples out that i even started feeling sorry for them..lol Great product

Cons:

Like i said it dries...and i mean DRIES!! i use the 5% wash and 5% gel..my skin feels like a dehydrated man in the desert.

I love this product I'v seen wonderful results after starting to use it only 5 day's ago....Iv been shopping aroung and tried almost all products that "are supposed to work" but simply it does not i'v been a great fan of clearasil ultra, but i decided i dont want a product that keeps the pimples under control i want a product that gets rid of the as in totally...i got so deppressed after looking in the mirror once...so i stole my mom's car and the medical aid card and bought Benzac and i dont regret it ....I am already rid of all my bigger pimples but the smaller one's tend to take a little longer to clear up.

Pros:

It cleared up my skin 100% in just a few days! I LOVE PROACTIV! I still have it, but I dont really use it a lot because its been 3 months since I used it. Now my face is clear :)!

Cons:

Kind of expensive, but that does NOT effect the product itself.

I love it

Pros:

This really doesn't have a great consistency for the regimen. Easy to spread and apply.

Cons:

I'd said Proactiv is pricey, but I can't complain about that since I had three months worth given to me by a friend.

I think it's better than plain BP if you can get your hands on it alone, since BP is going to be drying at least at first. So it offers a little more moisture, even my oily skin needs the extra moisture. Not to mention, it's oil-free. I'm glad to have three months supply of this stuff so I can use it instead of just plain BP. Of course this lotion is going to be drying as others stated, but that's because it's BP! haha. But like I said, it's nice to have around if you have it because it's a moisturizer too. Although, I cleanse, use Proactiv Repairing Lotion, and I still use a dry skin lotion after this.. and I have EXTREMELY oily skin, but BP dries me out. So never underestimate the power of moisture when you're using BP.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
