-Dried my skin a TINY BIT.

Pros:

it works really well. i use it anytime i have a zit just pop up on my face. during the time that i had a crown/title i needed to use it and it would really work!!!

Cons:

it takes about 2 days. plus you have to use it 2 times a day. i just don't have time.

it is a great product that does the job needed!

Pros:

I can see immediate result by the next day. But I do not recommend for long term use.

Cons:

This is why, it is very drying when use for more than a week and if I follow Dan's dosage, my face will look "burned" which red brown dried skin. I have to use much lesser but it will be less efficient if I use lesser.

I do not recommend for long term use. If there is a better choice, do not use this.

Pros:

Good price, works great (at first), convenient.

Cons:

Stops working (for me at least), weird consistency.

This is a really great product that helps your skin a lot. However, after a while it just seems to not do anything. Also, the cleanser has a REALLY weird consistency. It doesn't lather at all and pretty much just feels like nothing. P.s. No matter what your acne is like, I recommends Acne Free Severe. It has higher BP levels and worked a lot better for me than the regular Acne Free.

im currently using proactiv and ive been on it for 2 weeks and im really starting to see an improvement and i have moderate acne. the scars and redness are already going away. alot of people dont use a moisturizer with proactiv so yes it will dry out your skin. i use aveeno daily moisturizing lotion fragrence free(noncomedogenic)jut a pea sized amount is good. does not leave my skin oily and gives just the right amount of moisture. Also alot of people dont use the right amount of the products. using too much or too litte will not work. but so far it seems to be working for me. And if it fails my next products will be Dan kern products =].

Pros:

-cleared me up quite a bit
-works fast -fades red marks nicely
-cheap

Cons:

-may dry your face, resulting in several large cysts, which is horrible...:(

I have used this product for several weeks twice. the first time I used it severely dried my face completely which resulted in several large heavily inflamed cysts. and yes, back then I WAS using a mousturizer. in the past few weeks I used this product again, because the stores here are somewhat short on acne products...:( I had used many kinds of acne products and I think that is why clearasil utra didn't dry my face this time. I can find no other explanation... anyway it now works well for me. I do think that people should try it, because, despite of the possible horrible side effects, it is a great product.

Pros:

I got quick results from the cream. One use and I noticed clearer skin.
It was extremely affordable too. I found it on sale at Walgreen's for about $5. I might go back and stock up!

Cons:

The cream is quite harsh and dries the skin.

The cream worked well for me. I tried it out for the first time last night and upon waking up, my skin was noticibly clearer. This product is great for my oily skin. I'm skeptical about the pills, but I'm going to continue to take them.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
