Pros:

None for me.

Cons:

It made my skin really itchy and red in the areas I applied it.

I really don't like this product, it doesn't react well with my skin. I have a few small pimples on the right side of my face so I decided to try and use this product to get rid of them. But it made them much worse, and right now I have to constantly keep applying moisturizer in an attempt to stop the itching. (And I only used a little dab of the stuff).

Pros:

It made my skin feel soft and smooth. It also controlled my pimples. The redness in my face decreased alot also.

Cons:

I got nodules and cysts only after stopping Proactiv.
It never got rid of my acne completely, but it controlled it.

I liked it alot but I started getting more pimples because of a stressful situation and I thought it was because of the regimen. I then used Skin Id but I am going back to Proactiv because the others didn't work and I haven't used it in a few years.

Pros:

NONE

Cons:

hate it! Don't buy!

I used this product to see if I could get rid of my monthly breakouts. I out it on for the first time and about 2-4 hours later my face started burning and itching and red faced. It is the 3rd day and I am still red in the face. DO NOT BUY!

Cons:

-skin got worse.
-skin developed these big ugly red zits, is VERY DRY and senstive to the sun.

THIS PRODUCT IS THE BIGGEST JOKE EVER.

Pros:

It works very well! I had a huge pimple that was red and swelling, hurt to the touch, and after using just the pads it was reduced in size! Now I use the face wash also, amazing!

Cons:

Makes skin a bit dry, but you just need a mosturizer.

Use this product! It is wonderful! The packaging suits males and females, the large letters are catchy and it isn't unappealing. The face wash doesn't really smell a lot and the pads smell like face pads. The medicated scent. Overall: USE IT!

Pros:

Don't have to order in the mail and it's a little cheaper than Proactiv.

Cons:

Not only does it not work, it makes your skin even worse! Night lotion really dries out your skin.

I bought this product because I didn't feel like ordering Proactiv and waiting for it to come in the mail. The commercial said it was voted one of Allure's best acne treatments and that it clears skin better than Proactiv. Big fat lie, people. It does absolutely nothing besides make your skin worse than before. I started using it and it made my skin a tiny bit better the first few days, then one day I woke up and my forehead was covered in huge zits. This product is a huge waste of time and money and will mess any progress you've made in getting your skin clear.

Pros:

I've been using this for a week and already my skin feels smooth and I haven't experienced any breakouts. It's not too drying, either, and it's cheap.

Cons:

It hasn't done much to help the red spots that were left over from the bad breakout that prompted me to go out and buy it. The toner has a strong alcohol smell.

My skin went berserk at the age of 27 and everything I tried failed to stop the breakouts. I noticed a difference within 4 days of starting this product. It's definitely worth a try because it's pretty cheap. The more I use it, the better my skin looks. I would recommend a good moisturizer to use in conjunction with the products; it's not as drying as other things I've tried but I still noticed my skin looked flaky after a week of use.

Pros:

it works fast...i started using it last week and my results were great..

Cons:

it dried my face...but all i did was stop using it for a day washed my face in soap and put face moisturizer on it

Buy this and see if it works for you...im dark skinned and i get acne for putting on make up...my bumps were...(blahhh) lol but it cleared my face and its so cheappp! REAL TALK!

Pros:

It worked in the begging very well it cleared up all my acne!

Cons:

But after a few weeks my skin got so bad! my skin was worse then beofre I started! I was so dissapoited, I don't like this product anymore its horrible for your skin and it causes break outs later on!

Don't buy this product unless you want two weeks of satisfaction, but totally not worth it. Your skin gets much worse after a couple weeks of use.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
