Pros:

less acne in 1-2 weeks, but not 100% clear.

Cons:

becomes ineffective after a year.
really dries up skin in the first few months and then your skin kind of become too oily after that.

I think proactive is very effective IF you're using it for the first time, but it will be less effective after some time and you need to change to something else.

Pros:

it controlled my pimples, but never really did anything other than that.

Cons:

didn't really work overall
can stain clothes

Proactiv works for different people. Apparently it only helps the pimples on top of the skin (or was it underneath?) anyhow, it only controlled my pimples but it didn't work overall.

Pros:

I haven't had a new breakout

Cons:

dry skin, itchy, and my skins burns

Well I just started to use this product. It has been 4 days, I know it's too soon for results, but my skins is very irritated and it burns, also my skin feels very tight as if I had a dry facial mask. I'm going to keep using it for 2 weeks if after that I don't see results I'm going to stop, plus reading some of the reviews really got me thinking.

Pros:

It cleared up my face very fast, I have tried everything and I was going to try this as my last resort before I started the laser treatments. This product has worked so far.... I am very happy with it...

Cons:

At first it made my skin very dry and itchy , then I started to use a moisturizer for eczema and my skin has never been clearer...

I love this product.. I have had so many problems trying to find a product that works and have wasted so much money on high end face cleansers that just didn't work for me. It sound crazy but if you can find a moisturizer that has an anti itch in it and use it along with all 3 of the acne free products you will have beautiful skin..... and it is really cheap especially if you get it at Costco.....

Pros:

It's really cheep and it cleared some of my acne, but not all of it.

Cons:

It made my skin dry. It was really hard to squeeze step 1 out and that annoyed me so much so I stopped using it.

You could get better acne treatments for just a little more money. This product wasn't worth it...you get what you pay for.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin really well, saw a difference right away. Affordable.

Cons:

This product was good, but it dried out my face and made it burn its all red, and when i move it hurts a lot.

I don't recommend this product, it is cheap. It burned my face and its completely dried out. Bottom line:NOT WORTH IT.

Pros:

My Acne is almost gone

Cons:

Instead of acne for awhile my skin was dry and pealing. I can hardly move my face sometimes.

Use this product if you want to reduce acne, just make sure that you use a moisturizer with it or it might end up like mine did.

Pros:

I started using the Product at night and the next morning i noticed a dramatic difference. Ive tried every product on the Wal-mart line of acne treatment and this is the only one that seems to get the job done.

Cons:

If you consider silky smooth skin a con when u go to bed, then that would be the only one.

I would Highly recommend this product to anyone with acne, that has felt hopeless about these other off the counter products. If your weary about spending your money on any product, IT SHOULD BE THIS ONE.

Pros:

like the size of bottles, easy to travel with.
the spot treatment is good as it drys out the pimple quick.
the price is alright only if it does it job, (but if it does not heal my skin problem even if its only $10 i would find it not worth it)

Cons:

it really drys out my face, super itchy+stings, redness, gets wrinkles, and makes my face/eyes swelling!!!

my skin gets one or two pimples occasionally, but in the past weeks it has got so worse like never before. perhaps its due to not removing my makeup properly, and from drinking (once in a while). i couldnt stand it anymore, so i decided to give proactiv a go. i have been using proactiv for almost a week now, ive not seen results yet. in fact, its causing me lots of worries, after the third day of use i could feel my skin so dry, and right after applying the toner it stings so bad which made me feel like washing it all off my face. on the fouth day, i started to see wrinkles on my face (yet im only 22), especially around my eyes, same again feels sooooooooooooo itchy, dry, and stingys to the degree that i want to cry. on the sixth day morning i got up, my face was actaully swelling especially arnd my eyes!! It really makes me want to give up using proactive!!! As i m so worried and scared of what will happen later on if i continue use.

Pros:

you can feel it working and i can already see some results

Cons:

none that i can think of

my cousin who has severe acne used it and has clear skin and so i tried it. i can already tell it is helping!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
