Pros:

It worked the for the first year or so and made my face look clear and hydrated.

Cons:

It just recently stopped working for me. It has always smelt horrible and when I go to sleep, I'll wake up and my room smells awful. The toner feels like it's burning my skin sometimes.

It doesn't work and is pricey.

Cons:

Never fully cleared my skin and caused dark spots to develop on my face. Another annoying side effect was that the stuff bleaches fabrics (be sure it is really dry before laying down unless you want your pillow cases and sheets ruined).

Soooo not worth the price! Also, on the website you can't cancel your order and when I called customer service they asked immediately why I was calling and then put me on hold for over 10 minutes then tried to convince me not to cancel...

Pros:

Gave me beautiful skin for the first week. Loved the system & was impressed with the refining mask.

Cons:

I used Proactiv for about 2 months. I didn't know that when you stop using it you break out like crazy... now within a week I went from one pimple to about 40. For me it only worked for a week... BIG waste of money. Won't buy/use ever again.

Different systems work for different people. After seeing a dermatologist, trying all kinds of over the counter cleansers, and trying the "natural" cures, I have yet to find a true cure for my acne. I definitely wouldn't recommend this product for anyone who has acne, because I think it is just a scam.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Bad reaction. My eyelids swelled shut within hours of use. I realize I'm probably one of few who have a severe allergic reaction like this. Also, difficult to stop automatic shipping and get your money back!

For ME it just wasn't worth the time and discomfort to see if it worked or not. Everyone reacts differently, of course. But beware if you have uber-sensitive skin and/or have had that kind of reaction to benzoyl peroxide before. And I didn't like that it was difficult to get my money back. My father actually had to call them to tell them I was allergic to the stuff and only then did they credit me and stop sending the orders.

Pros:

Super fast and inexpensive shipping. The products are just amazing everything about them is a pro.

Cons:

No cons what so ever!

I am a Registered Nurse, and I have been using Carley's products for a year. They are by far the best products available. No one ever guesses my age, not even close! I get anywhere from 10-15 years younger than I really am, and no more problems with acne! I have tried everything from expensive department store products to prescriptions. I have even been on acutane twice. Carley's is the only line that continuously delivers what they promise and it's so good for your skin! I cannot say enough good about the products. I love everything I've tried and there's very little I haven't tried.

Pros:

Works wonders on acne. Inexpensive to use. Fast, friendly delivery. I highly recommend this product to everyone, even adults.

Cons:

NONE!

My daughter's acne was real bad. I can understand because growing up, I had a real tuff acne problem myself. Sometimes, I wish I could die!! I tried all sort of over-the counter medications, but nothing seem to work. Desperate for a cure, I even bought PROACTIVE for my daughters. PROACTIVE made their acne worse!!! It dried out their skin & they refused to use it. Of all the things I've ever purchased, PROACTIVE is the one product I MADE TIME TO RETURN!! I ran across Carley's skin treatment on the internet. Since then, we are loyal customers for life! I even pay for my niece's items from Mexico. She was falling into depression because of her problem acne. Carley's treatment saved her social life!!! We are so grateful!!!! >) So many thanks!!

Pros:

cleans face well, works very nicely, not a bad smell.

Cons:

the progress for my skin is slow, but it still works. time.

This product overall seems to work slowly on my skin, but i notice it works perfect for me.
July 24, 2009

Pros:

temporarily clears acne for about few months, takes a few weeks to kick in, doesnt burn (maybe the toner a bit)

Cons:

it made my oily skin embarassingly flaky, it took about 15minutes in the mornin and night, cost about all of my savings, acne came back worse than everrrr (even worse after i stopped usin it) and made me wanna cryyyyy jessica simpson lied to me!!!!!

please dont u this, its such a rip. i guess if ur really really desperate and need sumthin to clear it and onlyyyy usein it for a few months then maybe, but its not worth it and u end up buyin all their other stupid products to make it work better. its a classic example of a fancy butt product that just wants ur money.
July 24, 2009

Pros:

Once you first use it you see a whole lot of difference.

Cons:

Didn't work completely, more breakouts came.

For some people it may work, then again it may not. I've used it for a few months and it never cleared up like the people on the commercials say it does, or how the photos looked. It only has 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, which definately doesn't help. It needs 10% Benzoyl Peroxide.
July 24, 2009

Pros:

It makes your skin VERY smooth. It also made my acne appear less harsh.

Cons:

Doesn't really prevent zits. Chocolate is my poison when it comes to my face and it didn't prevent them.

Like all acne products, it depends on the person and how often you use them. I've been on mine for about 3 weeks and I've been bad and get lazy and won't wash my face for 2 days or so. But I think if you keep using it religiously I think you will have good results. I've tried other ones and this regimen seems to be working the best for me. I wish people would take that into consideration. That not all acne products work for everyone.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
