EVERY WOMAN SHOULD NOT TAKE. ZINC CAN MAKE YOU INFERTILE. DO NOT TAKE!

I took zinc for acne and honestly initially it did work however by time it started to make my acne worse. It also caused my upper lip and chin peach fuzz to darken. It also caused some hairs on back and chest to grow.  It also made my skin so oily. I also DIDN'T HAVE my period in THE 5 weeks AFTER starting zinc, UNTIL I STOPPED. Honestly listen do not take if you have acne or PCOS because if you eat meat and dairy you are unlikely to be deficient in zinc. I PROMISE ZINC DEFICIENCY IS RARE AND MOSTLY SUFFERED BY THOSE WITH EATING DISORDERS OR ANOREXIA. IT DOESNT CURE ACNE THATS A LIE. IT MAY WORK FOR SOME PEOPLE BUT NOT FOR EVERYONE. Zinc increases testosterone and androgens and this is scientifically proven which is why bodybuilders take it. It is bad for hormonal acne( caused by excessive androgens in women) and will exacerbate it. It will make you break out, have more acne, more oily skin and can make unwanted hair on back and chest. These are the same illnesses people with PCOS are trying to cure. DO NOT BUY INTO THIS TREND AND IM BAFFLED AS TO WHY THERES NO INFO ONLINE ABOUT THIS.

FOR ACNE HONESTLY TRY SOMETHING LIKE SAW PALMETTO OR A DAIRY FREE/NO PROCESSED FOOD DIET/LOW CARB DIET OR VISIT THE DERMATOLOGIST.

Be careful

Zinc gave me worst breakouts on my life too on every occasion I took it! Zinc being magical cure for acne is one of the biggest lies on the internet!!! and yet it is recommended to everyone but really only few need it and in fact it can only make things worse. If you eat meat, eggs, dairy you are most likely NOT deficient in zinc, it's likely only if you're vegetarian or vegan, otherwise you don't need it. Taking extra will deplete your copper and iron and make things worse. and yet nobody talks about importance of copper which we are more likely to be deficient in. Zinc also raises testosterone and androgens, this is a scientifically proven and its why bodybuilders take it! In high doses it reduces estrogen. If your acne is hormonal and you're a woman with excess of androgens it will make it WORSE! This is why lot of women report it has make them break out, make them MORE oily, made their cycles even more unregular, and even made unwanted hair grow on their chest and beard area. Yet so little infor on that online :( And yet people recommended it for PCOS which baffles me because these are exactly the problems that ppl with PCOS are trying to cure... DO not buy into this trend and test is very carefully and if you see any symptoms STOP, its not for you.. do not think its just purging or something like that becasae that is nonsense, there's no reason this mineral would cause purging.

I took Zinc 50/mg daily for 4 months with evening premise oil and have noticed no changes. This did not help me.

A disappointment for female hormonal acne.
So I have waiting exactly 3 weeks from the start date of taking Zinc Picolinate 75mg daily before leaving a review. I am female, age 28, moderate to severe hormonal acne for 15 years. I can say with confidence that this dosage of Zinc has done absolutely nothing for my skin. It is exactly as bad (if not very slightly worse) than it was 3 weeks ago. I am truly disappointed, as I wanted this to be the natural fix that so many have said it was for them - or at least see some difference, but no. I am now left wondering whether to try upping the dose or to just quit altogether. I can report though that I've had no bad side effects from this dose - and that I have been taking copper also, to make sure my levels don't drop, so no problems there. If I have any further revelations I will come back to share!

Maybe try a lesser dosage. Some studies have shown benefits with dosages between 30 & 50 mg.

Right Dosage for Zinc
How much zinc should I take? Is it good for me to take 50mg? I have pimples but not that severe, my breakout is every other day and what combination of vitamins is best for acne? Thankyou.

Zinc is an essential trace element for humans, and there is evidence that it is similar to antibiotics in improving the condition of inflamed acne. The effective dosage is not clear. However, most studies indicate 50-100mg. We advise you not to take any more than 100mg because excessive zinc may lead to deficiencies in other vitamins and minerals. These supplements can upset your stomach. To prevent nausea, always take Zinc with food. We are also recommending that you discontinue taking the zinc once you are completely clear. We are not suggesting this as a preventative.

Did not work for me
After taking 40 mg of zing per night for about 5 nights, I got horrible cysts on my cheeks and the skin around my mouth and nose became red and very dry and flaky. I was upset this didn't work for me after reading the review but I guess I just have to keep going with trial and error if I want to see improvement. At least now I know this doesn't work for me so I won't try it again.

5 days of zinc won't do anything. 5 days of any supplement/medice wouldn't help cure anything. Just have that in mind. My face got worse too before it got better.

Didn't do much for me
I took it for almost 2 months, my breakouts stayed the same and the texture of my skin worsend, although the redness went down a little. It's one of those products that you have to try, because it can either be really good or not do anything at all. (I have cystic acne on both cheeks and blackheads in my t-zone)

Cystic acne breakout after 3 days
When I introduced L-Opti Zinc by Now Foods as a supplement every morning, my face became more inflamed and with the sheer number of cysts developing, I could no longer see the contour of my jawline. It was so horrific that I stopped after just 3 days. Even if that was just a purge stage, I definitely couldn't put up with that level of purging. When I stopped the zinc, the inflammation seemed to calm down overnight. I'm now trying probiotics instead, and will aim to re-introduce zinc again eventually and see if the same effects take place.

Breakouts
I am currently taking birth control and it has really helped my acne. I read about how zinc could also help acne so I gave it a try. I don't know if it was counteracting what my BC was doing, but I started getting huge cysts everyday. I keep taking it for a month but it only got worse. It was worth a try though, you never know. Everything will work different for each person.

Did not work for me
Made my skin go CRAZY with acne. I had to go on antibiotics to calm it down again. Just a friendly remind that everyone's acne is caused by different things, what works for one person may not for someone else.
