Pros:

No stomatch aches

Cons:

No improvement
Decreases copper absorbtion

Disappointed.. people on here said they had 50% clear skin by the second week, I reaaaallllyyyy wanted this to work for me too and I heard it helped balance your hormones, which I'm almost sure is the cause of my acne since I'm 13. But it has been almost 2 weeks of taking 50mg a day and I've seen no noticeable improvement, if anything I've been breaking out more.. I really wanted my skin to be clear for the end of the year and I was positive this was gonna get me there, I guess I might try fish oil now.

Uncertain

Pros:

Not sure at this point

Cons:

-may cause hair loss
-may cause more acne

I was taking this while changing too many other things around; hard to tell whether certain effects were due to the zinc or not.

Pros:

reduced acne flareups, better than tearing ur face off with cleansers and spot creams, just a little bit of soap everymorning and evening.

Cons:

tummy a little upset the first day

have been taking zinc tablets for three days now and to treat cystic spots and it seems to be working a treat recommended highly.

Pros:

clears active acne
no more oily skin

Cons:

must be taken with a meal

zinc is the only thing which has improved my skin (and i've tried so many things). when i take it, my active acne completely clears. i stopped taking it for about 3 days and i started getting spots again. it has also made my skin a lot less oily. I take 4 x 15mg of Chelated Zinc daily, of which 0.75mg of each tablet is Copper.

Pros:

allowed me to stop using bp. like others have said, no more cystic painful acne -- zits are little and heal quickly when they do appear.

Cons:

none really. only caveat is that you'll need to take iron and copper supplements as well to avoid the hair loss and other ill effects from massive zinc supplementation.

basically, it was my miracle cure. i use nature's plus time released zinc which you can take on an empty stomach. i take 100mg/day.

Pros:

zinc PASTE works

Cons:

none so far for me

I dont take the zinc pills... this was what my mom did when i was a teen, and I still use it to this day if i have the rare pimple: get the zinc pills, crush a few up and mix with water. you want a paste like consistency... apply zinc paste to pimple area 2-3x times daily.. those pimples that take DAYS to go away will disappear fast

Pros:

Great Product! I take 100mg (50mg twice a day) and it has sped up healing, time i actually have pimples, and amount of cysts. Zinc is also good for your nails, hair, and sexual health. I've seen improvements i didn't even expect.

Cons:

Yes, take it with food. Those of you having stomach and problems with digestion make sure you are taking chelated zinc. It is not a brand just a type thats a little easier on the stomach. You can get it at any drug store.

Zinc will not do the job by itself by any means but it is worth your daily oral intake. Your body in general will just function better. Most preventative flu treatments contain high levels of zinc. I take it in college to avoid the ramped sickness that goes through the dorms. Don't take more then 100mgs. For $4 is worth a try.

I started taking 50 mg zinc gluconate for my mild to moderate acne and I have seen positive results. My face feels tighter, dry, and it's helping with the complexion. Coincidentally, I also have a sore throat and zinc is supposed to help with that by maintaining a healthy overall immune system. I feel more energized and less lethargic.

Pros:

Inexpensive & not topical.

Cons:

Like most people have mentioned: You must take it after food or you'll have stomach pains.

I was really skeptical when I came on this site and saw all the testimonials in zinc's favor. I figured I must've got enough in my diet, so something else should be the cause of my (moderate but persistent) acne. I went to [link removed] and noticed that the amount of zinc in foods I eat was so negligible compared to the recommended amount suggested here (50ish mg). I bought a 50mg Zinc supplement and a multivitamin. After a couple weeks I noticed a significant improvement in my skin without using my benzoyl peroxide. Try it. It's super cheap - I bought generic CVS tablets.

I noticed a difference in my skin just afeter a couple days of taking it. I also take Silca (horsetail) which is also great for your skin. My hair and nails grow like crazy now!!
