Well...

Pros:

Helps a little

I haven't taken it for THAT long but I believe it does help tame my acne. But definitely not just on it's own. You should still be using other things to help with your acne.

Pros:

Cheap
Breakouts heal/go down faster
Better immune system

Cons:

Horrible nausea (even when taken with meals)
No significant changes in frequency of breakouts

The bottom line is that this product is in no way a cure for acne. I think at best it is something to be incorporated into a topical regimen in order to give it a little extra push. Purchase with caution. Oh, and bring a barf bag for the nausea that is sure to come.

Pros:

Seemed to help with acne, at least it did not break me out more

Cons:

Was still getting cysts / pustules back at the time, but this might have to do with my soap / hydrating cream.

Will give it another go now that I have changed my regimen.

Pros:

- Inexpensive
- Possibly clearer skin (could just be a timing issue)

Cons:

Hard to measure whether clearer skin is a result of zinc or not.

I had a breakout whilst taking the Yaz contraceptive pill so I tried taking a 25mg Zinc tablet per day alongside it to control acne. My acne and scarring was getting worse in the six month of taking Yaz, so I stopped taking it but continued with Zinc. At first I didn't get much results but over the past month my skin has cleared dramatically. Stubborn 6 month old white heads on my cheeks have finally disappeared and I don't get new breakouts. If I do get a pimple, it is smaller and will disappear in a day or two. I am pleased with how many of my white heads have disappeared. I only have about 4 or 5 left. The redness has also calmed down so I have to wear less make up. I don't get any tummy aches or nausea that others seem to get. Not sure if this was a result of me going off Yaz or whether it's the zinc but something's working!

Pros:

+Less oily skin
+Brighter eyes.
+Acne and scars heal quickly.

Cons:

-Dry, sensitive hair.
-Sensitive skin.
-No significant change in acne.

I've been taking zinc 50mg for a while now, 4-5 times a week. I've noticed my eyes has a nice gleam now and my skin is less oily. However, my hair is drier and cannot be washed every day or else it will get frizzy throughout the day. I have not noticed a great change in my acne.

Pros:

Cleared up my acne for the most part for almost a year

Cons:

My acne is back and taking over again!

I have been struggling for the past year and a half with big, under the skin pimples on my left cheek bone. I started taking zinc and it completely cleared up that area, leaving me with ugly indented scars. About a month and a half ago I started taking chelated zinc and also noticed my skin slowly getting worse. Now, the acne on my left cheek is back, and I am left wondering whether or not it's the chelated zinc or if zinc in general has just stopped working for me. I think everyone should try zinc anyway, but I wish I had an answer for how I can fix my problem.

Pros:

More even skin tone
I didn't get nauseous
Seemed to help with whiteheads and inflamed blackheads

Cons:

I got BAD headaches
My joints HURT
Worked on/off for occasional inflammatory acne

I took zinc when the fish oil didn't do anything for me. Within the first few months of taking zinc, I did notice a slight to moderate improvement in my acne. Then around the 4th month, I got side effects. Even though I took 50 mg of zinc every other day, I still got HORRIBLE headaches that would last for hours and it felt my joints were very sore. I went to the doctor and he advised me to stop taking it. As soon as I stopped, the pain went away and I was back to my normal self. I don't know if there was a contaminant in the zinc pills or what, but it made me very wary of taking supplements for acne again. You might not get these side effects, but you should still be careful when taking something.

Pros:

Cheap
Face isn't as oily

Cons:

No real improvement regarding breakouts

I have been taking a 25mg for 4 weeks. After reading some reviews, think I am using too low of a dose to see any type of improvements. I am only using 25mg - so for those of you wondering, this is probably not enough. I'll try upping my dose to 50mg and see if anything happens then and write another review again.

Pros:

Clears Acne

Cons:

-Feels like you are going to throw up without any food eaten
-Dont use Mederma with it,will make you break out

I have had acne since the 4th grade, and i'm in the 9th grade. I started using Zinc(30mg) last week and i saw a difference. Then,4 dayss later i started using Mederma to get rid of my acne scars and it made me break out. So, i recommend you NOT to use Mederma while taking Zinc. Use Mederma once your face is clear.

Pros:

-Increase mood (you get a mini high like when you eat oysters)
- Somewhat clearer skin, nothing that i've noticed drastically.

Cons:

- Stomach ache/weak feeling if not taken RIGHT after a meal.

Been taking zinc 50mg daily for a couple of months usually after a meal. Have noticed just minor improvement in skin. I do like it because it increases libido(sp). Generally feel better. Make sure you take it RIGHT after a meal. I just took a zinc tablet about an hour and an half after breakfast. As I'm writing this I'm feeling very weak at the moment. So make sure you take this with a meal to avoid this side effect.
