Pros:

Placebo effect in the beginning

Cons:

Definitely broke me out. I thought it was helping but when I realized my acne wasn't getting better but worse, I figured I'd stop it, and mind you, it took me a while to let go of it because I thought it was helping, i thought i had zinc deficiency.

NO NO NO. I almost cried and become so depressed thinking my acne would never go away. Once I stopped zinc, the clump of acne that was forming on my cheek eventually went away...

Pros:

- Very inexpensive, natural treatment
- clears up acne vulgaris and whiteheads
- reduces inflammation and red spots
-works relatively quickly, within days or weeks
- gives you more energy and helps with focus/concentration
- increases sex drive/libido
-helps with sleep. Extremely vivid (sometimes sex-related) dreams.
-helps with appetite (for those of you who are skinny like me)

Cons:

- Vivid nightmares sometimes.
- Taking too much can cause nausea
- You must take it regularly, or acne will return

I started taking zinc gluconate from my local Publix over 6 months ago. I got the 100-count bottle of 50mg pills for about $3 or $4 and began taking one a day, usually at night with food. Within the first two weeks, I noticed a positive effect on my skin. Acne was gradually clearing up, I felt better overall, and slept better. As an added bonus, I began getting insanely rock hard erections and especially steel-like morning wood, something I haven't had in years now (I am now 22). At less than a nickel per day, this sh*t is worth it just for its aphrodisiac qualities. I am convinced the drug companies do not want you to know about zinc, so that you will keep forking over hundreds of dollars on products like viagra, enzyte, and other crazy medications with unknown long term effects. Zinc is the real deal. It's all natural, and already exists in varying amounts in food we eat every day, like fish, meat, avocados, nuts, etc. It gives me vivid erotic dreams too (with an occasional equally vivid nightmare, unfortunately) But I digress. Back to my acne. At 50mg a day it stopped my acne production dead in the tracks, bringing new problem spots down to a very manageable one every few days (from what used to be multiple new spots each day or two). And red, inflamed areas heal quickly and are not as bad. My skin is smoother and shinier all around. I am a very skinny, 120-125 lb white male, 22 yrs old. Hormones and vitamin/nutrition/diet balance obviously plays a big part in my acne, as it has since I was about 14. Taking zinc supplements definitely helps to make sure I get enough of the element, and to replenish my body with this necessary element especially after ejaculation, which can drain a lot of zinc from the body through semen. Overall, I wish I had known about zinc 7 or 8 years ago. It is probably the best treatment I have found for my acne after having tried everything from benzaclin to minocycline to Retin-A and every

Pros:

Zinc, plus a healthy balance of essential vitamins, causes smoother and clearer skin.

Cons:

None

Zinc is thought to reduce acne because it affects the production and regulation of hormones in the body (including testosterone, which is linked with acne) and helps to regulate cell metabolism. However, a healthy balance is best for your system, so you shouldn't just overload your body with zinc for a quick fix. I get my zinc with a multivitamin (15mg zinc/day which is 100% DV) along. To me, 50mg of zinc alone is excessive, and this way I get the zinc, plus other vitamins necessary for the body (including vitamins A, C, copper and iron which also support healthy skin). Antibiotics and retin-a got rid of most of my acne, but it didn't completely do the trick. I think it is zinc PLUS the other vitamins and the fact that I go out of my way to stay hydrated, that made the final difference to smooth my skin and give me a flawless look that I have been fighting for for almost half my life. I first noticed a real difference in how healthy my skin looked after about 1-2 months of taking the multivitamin.

Pros:

Reduces tiny acne
Reduces redness

Cons:

Can get nausea but only the first time taking it, your stomach will eventually get used to it.
A short break-out the first day but eventually went away the 3rd.

IT WORKS! At least for me. I have been suffering acne since last year. I don't know what happened but it started in my second year in university. I guess it was because of the stress and not eating right. I was got so depressed, I didn't even wanna leave the house all day. Now, it's all getting better. I've only been taking 50mg Zinc gluconate/day for 5 days and my face is almost cleared up. I feel better going out in public now. I've tried lots of things, this facial cream and that but nothing really worked but this. I thought maybe I am not getting good nutrition since I started stressing at school so maybe I needed supplements and I read reviews from this site. I am also taking cod liver oil and vit E along with zinc. I wish I have discovered this a long time ago. If nothing works for you, if you have tried every single thing out there, don't hesitate to try Zinc gluconate. Don't get too surprise with initial break-outs, they will eventually go away in no time. Goodluck.

Pros:

- smaller pimples vanish
- redness goes away
- better complexion
- less pimples overall

Cons:

- do not overdose on zinc

Zinc is not the miracle cure for acne, but it sure does help!! I used to have a least a couple pimples on my face and right now I have none. I have been taking 50mg zinc daily for A MONTH and it has really helped so much! I feel better going outside now that my skin looks sooo much better! It really helps with the smaller pimples. I had some on my forehead, but they are all gone! My forehead is smooth and beautiful. If I do get a pimple, its like one and its not very big like they used to get.

Pros:

Prevents new pimples from forming, helps current pimples heal very quickly, and flatten out. Makes skin on your face smoother and red acne scars less noticeable.

Cons:

None!

Ironically, I started taking 50 mg of zinc once/day about 2 weeks ago to strengthen my immune system and I noticed that.....lo and behold, my face was clearing up! Coincidence? I think not! I've struggled with hormonal acne for the past couple of years. I get those giant cysts that last for months and are very painful, along with various whiteheads. I noticed that recently, I haven't had ANY new pimples form! I was shocked, because I've been breaking out continuously. I think that this was a great accident. If you have hormonal acne, zinc is definitely something worth looking into.

Pros:

Easy to use

Cons:

Made me break out

I took one 50mg pill at night on a full stomach. After a day I started breaking out! First one big pimple on my left side, the next day on my right side. I was rethinking everything I had done, what facial products I used, what I have eaten...all of a sudden it hit me!The zinc!I immediately stopped taking it and am slowly clearing up..Still have the red marks left though. Those breakouts were huge!

Uncertain

Pros:

Not sure at this point

Cons:

-may cause hair loss
-may cause more acne

I was taking this while changing too many other things around; hard to tell whether certain effects were due to the zinc or not.

Pros:

Can say enough about how great this stuff is.
I've been on it for about 2 weeks and i'm almost completely clear, it's amazing.

Cons:

I had a little bit of an initial breakout first 2 days and then I haven't gotten 1 new pimple since which for me is incredible!

Ok so this stuff is a miracle for me. I have moderately severe acne and nothing I tried would work. And I'm talking every single topical, prescription, and antibiotic short of accutane. Nothing helped much at all, and then this zinc help me soooooo much. I can't remember the last time i was this clear, my confidence is through the roof and people are starting to notice as well! When I read these reviews I though why not and it's been great. I read on here that it could upset your stomach. I take 50mg every morning and every night, sometimes on an empty stomach and I haven't had a single problem with an upset stomach. I guess maybe I had a zinc deficiency and didn't know it? Either way this stuff is a life saver so far and hopefully it keeps up because I'm finally not self-conscious about my skin. If you have bad skin and nothing is working please give this a try, what have you got to lose? It can't be bad for you.
