Pros:

Non for me.

Cons:

No cons either.

I rated this item about a month ago and gave it 2/5, and I'm still sticking to that. A month ago I decided to give zinc a nother chance and switched chelated zinc to zinc picolinate. I also upped my dose to 180mg per day and have done this for about four weeks with absolutely no effect. I really don't feel any effect on my body. I'll be reducing my dose to 60mg. Happy to see it's helped so many people here though.

Pros:

Clears Acne

Cons:

-Feels like you are going to throw up without any food eaten
-Dont use Mederma with it,will make you break out

I have had acne since the 4th grade, and i'm in the 9th grade. I started using Zinc(30mg) last week and i saw a difference. Then,4 dayss later i started using Mederma to get rid of my acne scars and it made me break out. So, i recommend you NOT to use Mederma while taking Zinc. Use Mederma once your face is clear.

Pros:

Mood lifter, appetite suppressant

Cons:

Made my acne much much worse

I guess this works for some people & not for others. I started taking zinc just to boost the good results I was getting with progesterone & benzoyl peroxide, and at first my skin looked really glowy & pretty. I felt great while taking it too- very giddy & energetic but within 2 weeks my face started *exploding* with acne. Not just my face either- my back, my chest, and I even got a few on my neck & I NEVER break out on my neck. My skin is also feeling very sensitive & irritated now. Once I made the correlation I immediately stopped taking it & I hope I can get this acne cleared back up quickly. Such a disappointment. I hate to stop taking it. I loved the happy feeling it gave me but it's not worth being covered in pimps.

Pros:

- Cleared skin
- Vivid dreams
- Heals injuries (like skin lesions from open pimples quickly)
- Boosts immunity

Cons:

- Makes you nauseous

Ive had a problem with acne since I can remember! Now I'm 22 and I don't seem to be growing out of it!! I pretty much get a new pimple daily. I have black heads on my nose, white heads on my cheeks, forehead and chin, and occasionally I will get a nodule or two. Nothing I've used works, I've used Murad, Proactive, Noxzema, Neutrogena, even some of acne.org products. My skin is always clean, I don't touch my face, I change my pillow cases, watch my diet. But after all these years, it doesn't seem to change. So one day I decided to do some research online about how I can try and cure my acne from the inside and it was suggested to take a zinc supplement. I also remembered I went to school with this girl who had flawless skin, and when I worked at the pharmacy she would drop in every now and then to buy zinc! So I tried it! So far its only been a month, I take a 50mg zinc supplement with a big meal every day. The changes didn't happen over night, but within a few weeks I did eventually see some drastic changes in my skin. The parts of my skin that were once bumpy, are now smooth, the more severe pimples that are still there, change in size and shape quickly. Open pimples that are burst heal rather quickly. The only draw back I have so far is that taking zinc really makes you queasy. It's not that bad, but I definitely have a sensitive stomach after. I choose to take my zinc with a meal where I know I'll be home, like dinner, so If I don't feel well, I can just lay down for a while. But its not that bad if you eat a full meal. Also, my dreams have been SO vivid since Ive been taking zinc. I'm not sure why that is...but I'm not the only one who reports this! Hopefully, I will continue to see these great results and soon be acne free. If your thinking about taking zinc, Id recommend it!

Pros:

Affordable. Easy to find. It does work!

Cons:

Makes you feel sick, even with food.

I did some reading up after seeing multiple posts on zinc. There is peer reviewed medical research that does back up its skin healing properties. I have severe rosacea which can sometimes easily be confused with acne. Further more I am a distance runner and I eat very little meat that zinc is found in such high quantities. I mostly eat legumes and veggies, but your body only processes nutrients at 30% efficiency with plants compared to 90% with meat products. So it made sense that there may be a deficiency. For a long time I was thinking I had a hormonal imbalance, and being a female who puts in an average of 7 mile runs everyday it's easy to see how that can happen. That wasn't it either. I tried BCP but that made the problem even worse and it made me gain weight. =( Nothing, was helping. Topical products only made it much worse when I thought it was acne. Even worse was the rosacea products weren't helping either. I get hot burning skin before the "acne" flare ups start. My skin would feel like I had a fever, even though I didn't. My whole entire face would turn red at times and my skin felt like it was on fire, then the breakouts would start. I can go for a long time with really clear skin but once a flare up starts it can turn into an endless cycle of breakouts that last for months or even up to a year. My last bout started in early June and has been raging all summer. I went out and got zinc about 3 days ago, its now the third day and I see a big difference already. The redness and burning that affected my whole face is GONE. I have had no new break outs and the ones that I had are now beginning to heal themselves. I have discoloration from some of the past break outs, but my skin usually sheds those pretty quick. My only complaint with the zinc is that even taken at recommended doses and even with food it still makes me feel queasy to the point where I want to go lie down after I take it, but its a small price to pay to have clear skin.

Pros:

helps immune system
might help with healing/scarring

Cons:

I started taking this with really high hopes and expectations when I quit BP, but am very disappointed. I took this for nearly 3 months with absolutely NO good results infact my acne went from bad to worse and after 4 months I am still suffering from breakouts. I am still getting cysts and my face is still oily.

Does not work for everybody, definitely did not work for me. I read so many great reviews and it had taken me a long time to finally call it quit with this product, but after nearly 3 months of use and several continuous breakouts...I quit.

Pros:

-Increase mood (you get a mini high like when you eat oysters)
- Somewhat clearer skin, nothing that i've noticed drastically.

Cons:

- Stomach ache/weak feeling if not taken RIGHT after a meal.

Been taking zinc 50mg daily for a couple of months usually after a meal. Have noticed just minor improvement in skin. I do like it because it increases libido(sp). Generally feel better. Make sure you take it RIGHT after a meal. I just took a zinc tablet about an hour and an half after breakfast. As I'm writing this I'm feeling very weak at the moment. So make sure you take this with a meal to avoid this side effect.

Guys I am 24 years old male flight attendant. I travel about 4-5 times a month to Europe and the 10 hours long flights destroyed my skin. After each flight I was getting horrible pimples that I couldn't heal for many days. Honestly I used to try everything- the cheapest and the most expensive solutions: sulfur, BP, SA, thousands of face masks ect and nothing helped me until I started to take this stuff. After a few days my face stoped to shine and the inflamed spots just disappeared. I have already two flights to Germany behind me and I didn't get any new pimple. PS zinc realy supports good skin condition as well as it works as an natural aphrodisiac so guys be aware and don't be suprised getting unexpected and really hard erection ;)

Pros:

Cleared Hormonal Acne (caused by quitting BC)
Increased Energy & Libido
Enhanced Mood
Better Sleep
Overall feeling of well being (could be due to nice skin)

Cons:

Can make you feel nauseous if you do not eat a decent sized meal before taking

I have been off the birth control pill Yasmin for a few years. Before the pill I never had acne, and during the pill no acne. However the pill made me feel week and bad overall so I quit taking it. My hair thinned out, and my face broke out insanely. My period has been slightly irregular ever since. I think the pill ruined my life until now. I started taking evening primrose oil, quit all dairy and that made my skin about 50% clearer, then as soon as I found out about zinc taking 50mg per day my skin cleared 95-100%. Now maybe I break out once a month before my period!! WOO HOOO ZINC!! Who would have known. My inclination is that the pill depleted my mineral supply (since it was a potassium sparing diuretic) but increased copper levels. I don't take copper with zinc because when I do I break out.
