Pros:

-cheap
-effective
-almost no side effects

Cons:

-MUST be taken with food

50mg of Zinc Citrate per day with my lunch has been the greatest surprise of any acne treatment I've ever tried. Keeps my acne at bay, and when I do get a flare-up, it seems to help eliminate my zits faster.

Pros:

This stuff has actually worked. I've been using it for almost 2 weeks now and i'm starting to see a change in my skin. My acne is not as inflammed as it as been, and my number of pimples have decreased. It also makes my skin smooth.

Cons:

takes awhile to work

take 50mg of this stuff a day, and your skin will be great!

Pros:

Works very well. I have only been using for about a week, but so far have had great results. Started out at 50mg/day. I increased to 100mg a few days ago and it made a huge difference.

Cons:

None so far. Hope it stays that way!!

I've been dealing with acne for about 13 years and have seriously tried everything. Accutane was the only thing that worked really well, but I'm sure as many of you know, about a month after stopping it the pimples come right back (usually in full force). It's also something I don't want to keep putting in my system. The first few days of taking the zinc were actually quite comparable to taking accutane (very dry, itchy skin). So, if you're looking for a great, cheap alternative, I'd suggest zinc. I wish I'd found this years ago.

Pros:

Zits shrunk, redness was reduced.

Cons:

I felt a little nauseas, and some stomach pains.

It's def worth a try! It cheap and you only need to take it once a day. I used 50mg. I've used it for two days and i've already noticed a change. It's a great anti-inflammatory and it also has other health benefits.

Pros:

It made my otherwise terrible skin look better then average withtin a few weeks.

Cons:

None

I have had severe acne for 12 years now (since junior high) and most products that i tried helped somewhat, but none of them made my skin look really really clear and nice (accutane, zynerit, dinae 35, etc) They stopped acne from actually coming out, but still left my skin looking unclear, blackheads stayed, and it just didn't look good. My dermatologist suggested that i should try taking zinc now, and i did. After a week, i couldnt believe what i saw. My skin started to look really clear, even the blackheads faded, and though i have scars left on my face, my complexion looks clear, even better then the average person's skin.(not like a supermodel, but hey :) after so many years of severe acne, this is better what i could ever hope for) I am also using a face scrub with zinc now, which helped even more. I really recommend trying it for everyone who is not satisfied with their skin yet.

Pros:

been taking 30mg of zinc gluconate (200% RDA)and vitamin A (8,000 i.u. or 300% RDA) daily for the past 3 months. Has worked great, skin looks a lot better, breakouts less frequent and recovery from breakouts very prompt.

Cons:

also use elizabeth arden 8 hour cream on any marks from spots - use on dry skin is especially effective, as well as on any 'under the skin' spots. Drinking more water and also green tea.

Overall a great combination of treatments and supplements that when combined have worked very well for me so far. Breakouts do still occur but only a few spots at a times, and less frequent. Use a very small amount of elizabeth arden 8 hours cream, it helps speed up the process of getting rid of spots - however be aware not to use too much as can make skin more oily.

Pros:

I can definitely tell a difference with my skin since taking this. I'm about 2 weeks in so far and am seeing great improvements. I still get acne, but when I do, it's very minimal now and even when I get something, it clears up very fast.

Cons:

None. Take with food and you should be fine. I haven't had any stomach problems taking 50mg of zinc daily.

Try it. It's apparent that the Western diet doesn't contain enough Zinc, so taking this definitely doesn't "hurt" you, even if it doesn't completely cure your acne.

Pros:

works , does not take long to notice it working. easy to use

Cons:

must be taken with food.

After reading the reviews here I decided to increase my zinc intake from the normal 15mg to 45mg. After about a week my skin is clearer and smoother. I now use a moisturiser with zinc in to at night. Both of these have made a huge difference in my skin!!

Pros:

Skin has cleared 95%, and has become less oily by 95%.

Cons:

NO Cons, just take with food.

I take 50mg. of Zinc alongside a Vitamin B-50 (containing Pantothenic acid or B-5).. My skin has cleared 95%, and I couldn't be happier! To give a full perspective I also use a gentle cleanser and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide at night and during the day as spot treatment. And I always use a 15spf moisturizer during the day. However, the cleansing, treating, and moisturizing wasn't clearing my skin, just barely maintaining. I'm happy to say that 1 pill of Zinc, and 1 pill of B-50 (purchased at a national retail chain in the vitamin section) is an expensive and EFFECTIVE way to clear my acne! Zinc aids in fighting infections and helping the immune system, and I've definitely seen the results as my "infected pores" have been healed and acne prevented from returning.
