Pros:

Very effective, quick, easy to use (just swallow)

Cons:

None, just take with a meal

Zinc is very effective. I've been on it for 3 weeks, and my skin is nearly perfect. I've never had horrible skin, but I've had persistent acne since I was 15 (now almost 20). After a week I saw results as new pimples slowed development and existing ones went away. I usually break out every two weeks (2 good, 1 bad), but this time it was very small and manageable, and went away in a weekend. Three weeks later, I'm 99% clear (one little guy remains). I take 50mg a day with breakfast. I also take fish oil capsules, and I do Dani's regimen. I've tried countless treatments over the years, and this is the first one that has really worked. I highly recommend giving it a try for 4-8 weeks.

Pros:

Cheap, easy to use, quick effect.

Cons:

Even small doses can make you feel ill in your stomach - best taken with food.

i get comedone type acne only, by that i only mean tiny whiteheads. i dont need to use any medication or anything since it doesnt actually look like i have acne but even whiteheads bothered me enough to try zinc. i noticed the whiteheads start to appear after i cut red meat from my diet, apparently red meat is an excellent source of zinc so i got a 60tablet pack of 15mg zinc sulphate from my local boots (for £3.02!) and ive been taking one a day after lunch for a week now. although my face was only mildy moist before, i noticed on my second day of taking the tabs that my face stayed very dry the whole day, my pores had a closed appearance and i stopped getting whiteheads. i will continue to take a tablet a day to maintain the result.

Pros:

From what I can tell, definitely helps acne and has positive effects on it.
Easy to take
Cheap enough

Cons:

You must be consistent with it (I presume)
Results aren't instant (took about a month for me, and even with that it's not something shocking or immediate, it's just you notice getting less acne, and the acne you have heals faster).

Since taking zinc for the past few months, I've noticed my skin being clearer and having generally less acne and occasional pimples. I don't think zinc is necessarily a 'miracle' cure for acne, but it definitely helps in some ways. I don't think you should go into it thinking it's going to instantly stop you're acne, just think of it as something extra which will positive towards your skin. By the way, I took 50mg a day.

Pros:

very effective, cheap, and easy.

Cons:

can make you ill.

When I first started using this, it was a miracle. After awhile, my acne was becoming as bad as it previously was so I decided to up the dosage. It`s nine months after I started taking it, and I`m now showing alot of the symptoms of having too much zinc. I took 100 milligrams (not including whatever is in my multivitamin) when you really should only take 45. I have no energy, my heart beats so fast I feel like I might die, I have dizzy spells, and it may have caused an iron deficiency. However, if you don`t over do it it`s definitely worth using. Although it did cause a great decrease in my acne, I`ve continued using it and it all came back. Now, if I skip taking it a day I break out. When I lower my dosage, I`ll probably break out badly.

Pros:

works wonders

Cons:

must take with food

I can't believe how great my skin is ever since I started taking zinc. I have suffered from acne for almost 30 years, at times it's been mild and at times much worse. Have seen several different dermatologists over the years but nothing has helped completely and it always comes back. I'm still skeptical if the zinc will continue to work long term, but so far it's incredible! I haven't gotten one new pimple since starting taking it and my skin is a lot less oily. The appearance is so clear! I just took my 13 yr old daughter, who has dry skin acne, to her first derm appointment and she was put on antibiotics, but if that doesn't work for her I'm going to start her on zinc! I haven't experienced any stomach aches while taking it, but I always take it with food (50 mg/day).

Pros:

stops/reduces oil production. Gives skin a dry yet vibrant feel. Restores Confidence.

Cons:

None. See below.

I cannot stress enough the importance of obtaining the "URL" Brand of Zinc 50mg. Its zinc sulfate and its way easier on the stomach. I am a pharmacist, trust me, and not google/forums. Its in powder/encapsulated form, so in a sense its time released. The NDC code is 00677-0622-01 I have normal/fair skin and usually got 3-4 pimples a month. Now I get none. ALSO!!!!Here is my regimen. I am crystal clear now. Purpose Soap-Dans BP-Aloe Vera Gel. 2x/day 50 mg zinc capsules- 3 times a day Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg-2x a day.

Pros:

works pretty well

Cons:

You must take it with food or you will puke!

Overall, zinc has worked pretty well. I have noticed a significant difference; however, this is no miracle acne cure. It did not give me 100% clear skin. It is just another step in my regimen.

Pros:

-Extremely cheap
-Widely available
-Healthy

Cons:

NONE

After reading all the reviews, I knew that I had to try it. However, I was still somewhat skeptical but thought I had nothing to lose so I bought a bottle of zinc. I feel that my acne is clearing up really quickly and I'm starting to notice the effects already, and I've only been taking it for 2 days. I feel that my complexion is brighter as well. I feel like I need the zinc because I am a vegetarian. FYI, I've tried -Flaxseed oil (the plant-based type, caused an allergic reaction, itchy rash that made me wake up in the middle of the night..it was a horrible experience) -Apple Cider Vinegar (caused an allergic reaction, caused some discomfort) I'd highly recommend zinc. I have sensitive skin and this works great for me :)
