Pros:

It's clearing my face, great immune system, very affordable, easy to take.

Cons:

Upset stomach sometimes, but not a very big problem if taken with food.

I am taking 1 tablet of 50mg zinc gluconate every day for 2 weeks now. I started seeing results after 1.5 week but already saw good results with fish oil. After i started taking zinc, my face started clearing even faster than with just fish oil. Now i continue taking both of them (1 tablespoon of fish oil and 1 tablet of 50mg zinc gluconate) every day and it clears even more. Also, i reduced the dairy products i eat/drink and eat much less junk food. All of these helped. The redness started dissapearing as well but of course it takes some time. I always take it with food but sometimes it upsets my stomach anyway, even if i ate a really big meal. No problem though. I still get a zit or two every some days but only when i eat junk food.

Pros:

Cleared up all my cystic acne. Have a couple white heads but they are small and are going away fast. It isnt an antibiotic so it wont stop working.

Cons:

Just afraid of overdosing. For me it took about a month to start getting clear. other than that no cons whatsoever.

Ive been taking two 50mg pills a day for a month and finally im clearing up real good. just got a couple left but nowhere near the amount as i had before i started zinc. This really is my cure for acne.

Pros:

Speeds healing process, reduces redness, very affordable.

Cons:

None for me.

I started out taking 100mg a night before bed and noticed improvements within 2 or 3 days. I reduced the dosage to 50 after a couple weeks and still enjoy the same beneficial effects. It really speeds up the healing process, new pimples last no longer than a couple days, and those temporary red scars clear up quicker. Makes my nails and hair grow unusually fast. I take Zinc Picolinate without copper by the way. I've never had any stomach problems, and I usually eat them on an empty stomach. But until you know how they effect you, best to be safe and eat something with them. I gotta say, Zinc in addition to Fish Oil pills have done more good for my complexion than any more expensive antibiotics or soaps ever did. I suggest giving them a try.

Pros:

no prescription, readily available, only thing that has worked for me in 15 years!

Cons:

Only that I didn't take this 15 years ago! No upset stomach with optizinc--take it without food so there is no competition for absorption

Yes, I'm 36 years old and had my first experience with acne about 15 years ago! Since then, I've tried everything under the sun but Accutane, which I refuse to try. As some others have said, most products work for me in the first month or so, but then things go from bad to worse again. I've tried Proactiv, Obagi, Murad, Dermalogica, three different forms of tetracycline, erithromycin, blue light, dry ice, microdermabrasion, and more. I've been taking 30 mg of optizinc twice a day for about two months and I can tell this is working and will continue to work. I don't feel the pressure, the pain, the impending doom underneath my skin that I usually do. I did not break out before or during my period--that's a miracle! I will drop down to only 30 mg a day soon and post again after about a month of that. One thing to add--about 1 month after starting the zinc, I also changed all of my skin care products and makeup to Shaklee products. Get them at [link removed]

Pros:

Heals much quicker than other products and is cheap.

Cons:

Take on a full stomach or you will feel sick.

The older I get, the more my face seems to break out and I just turned 42. I started taking the zinc 9/23 in the evening 50mg-at that time, my face was broken out more than usual and seemed to be getting worse. After a couple days, I noticed that the ones I had started to go away quicker than normal-impressed so far. Went and bought some zinc oxide creme to put on the blemishes to also help. So after a week, I only have one blemish and I had about 10 last week. My face seems brighter and more smooth. I will post again because the products I have used in the past and I have used a bunch, they all work well for a few weeks then back to the same problem-it's like my face gets used to it. I have never found a product that lasted longer than mth and I have tried: Obagi, Retin A, Neutregena, Proactive, Murad, Glycolic lotion, Natures Cure, Oxy, Clean & Clear, Stridex, Clearasil and I'm sure I'm leaving out a few more. So we'll see.

Pros:

Works

Cons:

Taking multiple pills a day

It's the only thing that helped me. I had very mild acne, but I broke out bad one week. I started using ProActiv, which worked well for about a month and a half. One day, my face started breaking out worse than it ever has in my life. I stopped using the ProActiv and tried many different cleansers and treatments. I started taking three 50 mg Zinc pills a day and after a month or two, my skin is back to the way it was before I used ProActiv. It's the only thing that cleared my skin back up. I'd definitely give it a try.

Pros:

Cleared skin within a month, helps with scarring and healing current acne.

Cons:

Must eat on a full stomach or you will get sick

I've been taking zinc for about 4 months and it works GREAT - it helps with the texture of my skin, helps to heal everything, and my hair even looks better and is a lot healthier - does not fall out much at all. My mind even seems to be clearer. I take 50mg of zinc gluconate daily.

Pros:

Cleared marks on my face quickly and is drying my remaining blackheads. Another pro to Margarite Zinc Cream is that it has really controlled the sebum. My skin isn't nearly as oily.

I'm a 39-year-old female still suffering with acne. I've been using a 50 mg supplement but didn't see any real results until I purchased MARGARITE ZINC CREAM. It can be purchased on Amazon. That stuff is AWESOME! After only four days I saw incredible results. My skin hasn't been this clear in a long, long time. I have spent more money trying to clear up my acne by purchasing over-the-counter products, the Obagi skin care line, essential oils, glycolic peels. Nothing worked. But this stuff is great and very affordable! I'm only using it one time a day, usually at night. I have never posted on any board before but I felt like I had to tell everybody else who is suffering from acne.

Breaking out and getting acne scars after going vegan, ZINC SAVED MY ASS
I tried with everything. Always going by the healthy way trying to get my acne under control, but i couldnt. Creams, diets, cleanses, they did some good but still something carving inside trying to push my acne out. And after zinc my acne started to diminish a LOT. After a month almost no acne. WORST A TRY, even more if you are vegan, vegetarian or have a zinc defiency. And by the way, read about zinc-copper ratio. After taking zinc ive gotten a copper detox and more symptoms i was having dissapeared (anxiety, bruxism, constipation). I use natural life brand (gluconate), im taking 1 pill (25mg) with lunch, and another (25mg) with dinner. GIVE IT A SHOT. MY SUFFERING IS GONE, I LOVE YOU ZINC!!!!

Pros:

- Reasonably cheap
- Easy to use
- Effective
- Prevents new breakouts

Cons:

- Stomach pains if taken on an empty stomach
- Doesn't do much for active breakouts

I've only been using this for a week, but it has been great for my acne. I'm a 16 year-old girl with moderately severe acne and pretty bad hyperpigmentation. I started getting acne when I was around 12, and it's gotten increasingly worse over the years. I'd even started getting a few cystic pimples. I finally tried zinc and am so happy with the results! In a week my skin looks better than it has in months or maybe even years! I've found that zinc doesn't do much to reduce active breakouts, but it does prevent new ones from forming, so I'm expecting my skin to continue to improve as my pimples heal. Zinc also hasn't done anything to help my hyperpigmentation, but honestly I'm just happy to see the active acne going away. I bought the Jamieson brand zinc for $15 for 100 50mg pills and have been taking two per day with a meal. The recommended dosage is to take only 1 pill a day, so if you're going to take two you should probably talk to your doctor. Personally I haven't noticed any side effects but I'm no medical professional either. Good luck to everyone on your journey to clear skin!
