Pros:

less acne
a natural way to cure acne

Cons:

the chance of overdose

For two months now, I've been taking 50 MG of zinc each day. I take my zinc in the form of a 30MG tablet, a multi vitamin and some mints that contain 6.8 MG zinc each. I also take fish oil liquid called Tran (I live in Norway and we live off of that stuff here). I've seen incredible results after suffering from years and years of adult acne; I'm 28 years old. My dermatologist tested my zinc levels and found out that they were abnormally low. I wish I had known about this before. First, I tried to incorporate more zinc in my diet, but that didn't work. The only thing that has worked has been the zinc supplements. MY SKIN IS SOOOO MUCH BETTER. The only question, I have is how much zinc is too much. I'm worried about taking too much and haven't been able to find any info on how much zinc I should be taking in the form of supplements each day.

Pros:

My skin is 95% clear!
Little zits GONE!
Big pimples gone!

Cons:

More blackheads, but nothing I can't manage.

I've been using a special regime for about two months, and I saw results, but not quite what I had wanted. I started taking 2 30 MG zing lozenges everyday, along with 2 fish oil capsules, and my skin is SO MUCH BETTER. I get about 1/4 of the zits, but when I get them they heal so much faster! It used to take about 5 days for one of my zits to completely disappear, now it takes 1-2 days. I am so amazed! I love this product. I honestly can't believe something is finally working for me. It's so easy, not messy at all, and I am finally seeing the results I have always wanted. :)

Pros:

WORKS ON ALL TYPE OF ACNE

Cons:

Nausea...i threw up once while in a drive threw...lol TAKE WITH FOOD NOT ON EMPTY STOMACH...

it works. maybe not like in a day or two but like 2 weeks to a month and its totally worth the wait -take with food -do not exceed 100 -take at least 30 mg -take opti zinc or chelated gluconate -zinc oxide is usually used topically but orally is more effective -zinc inhibits the enzyme (enzyme 5α-reductase) that converts testosterone to DHT (DHT causes acne not testosterone.) -when you cry prolactin is increased.. prolactin increases production of that DHT enzyme.... for reals peeps...believe me out of anything its your best acne fighter... -DO NOT TAKE THE CHEAP KIND...WALMART BRAND IS A WASTE GO TO VITAMIN SHOPPE OR YOUR LOCAL HEALTH FOOD STORE OR YOU ARE JUST WASTING YOUR MONEY... -to test if your zinc is truly good quality take on empty stomach, if no nausea, your zinc is a rip off...

Pros:

Zinc works. I'm not 100% clear, but there is a HUGE improvement. I no longer get big breakouts, rather, I get a small pimple here or there. My skin is way less oily too! I can wear less makeup now because I don't really need it except to cover the scars. Just try it!!! I wish I had known about the benefits of zinc years ago!

Cons:

None

I don't like to swallow pills, so I take two zinc lozenges a day (each is 23 mg.) I take them after a meal and have never had and problems with nausea. It's super cheap, I think I got a two month supply for around $6. Also, try the Zinc Margarite cream. I've been using that for a week at night and it makes a huge difference. Basically speeds up the healing process and can shrink some blemishes in just one night. Doesn't dry my skin out more than any other acne products.

Pros:

cheap, natural and really seems to work.

Cons:

takes a while to work

I struggled with acne on and off from the minute I started working at 17 until about 6 months ago ' at the age of 32. The only thing which would get rid of it was Roaccutane and then taking the contraceptive pill to keep it at bay. Due to a health problem I had to come off the pill over 2 years ago, and my skin went crazy, another dose of Roaccutane later it cleared up again, but the effects started to wear off after about 3 months. Not wanting to take any more meds for it, I asked my dermatologist about taking zinc, and he basically said it was a waste of time. I started to take it anyway, at first a large dose ' around 100mg then gradually over a few months down to one 15mg tablet every day, my skin has been totally clear for 6 months now, and thats without any medication, just a zinc tablet and my normal routine of using Simple skin products, drinking lots of water and taking a multivit each day. It doesn't happen overnight, but stick with it. I don't know whether it was the zinc, or whether the acne has just '˜switched off' as my dermatologist said it eventually would, but I would recommend anyone to try it, it's even made my skin much less shiny which used to bug me. Basically don't give up hope, you'll find something which works, I thought I had tried everything and was sick of putting medication in my body, I'm starting to think that maybe I was just zinc deficient for all those years as the results have been so dramatic and seem to have permanently sorted it. Good luck everyone.

Pros:

Excellent way to prevent breakouts

Cons:

Somewhat nausea

For the past 2 weeks I've been using 50mg of Zinc with 400mg of Chronium and I am SIMPLY AMAZED! I am a 34 year old African American woman who has suffered from acne for over 15 years! Plus I've been on everything accept accutane (which I refused to ever try). Now my skin has finally stopped breaking out and has started clearing up. Wish I would have learned about the powerful effects of Zinc and Chronium years ago! Plus Chronium is good for weight loss.

Pros:

Cheap
Easy to find
Works well
Inflammation/Painful acne clears within a day or two

Cons:

Upset stomach
Sometimes severe nausea
Many different kinds, some not as effective
(I'm taking Zinc Gluconate 50mg)

This stuff is amazing! I'm in my early twenties and have long suffered with serious acne problems. My adult acne has been concentrated on my cheeks and temples, and I read that Zinc is particularly effective at treating the redness and inflammation in this area of the face. I've only been taking it a few days, but it is already working. The only problem is that it can cause nausea. I've eaten it with dinner everyday, but tonight had serious nausea. I did some research, and it seems that certain foods high in calcium can cause the nausea from zinc - things like pop especially, and I had some soda earlier for the first time in a while, so maybe that's the cause.

Pros:

definitely has been working, i take 50 mg of zinc picolate daily. Reduces active acne and post red marks

Cons:

some people say upset stomach, but just take it with food and you'll be all set

Listen i tried everything, and recently i had broke out badly after the summer and before that i had no pimples whatsoever. The breakout literally lasted about 2 months, and i tried every product with little success. I finally tried zinc, and i haven't had a new pimple since trying it and my old ones seem to be fading fast. I'm telling you if you are using topicals or natural remedies and still aren't seeing great results, you should definitely add a zinc supplement to your diet. The problem with my acne is it takes awhile to heal and stays red but not inflamed, and i definitely think zinc is speeding up the healing process. Worst case scenario it doesn't work for you and you stop taking it, but i doubt that will happen for most people. Give it a try!

Pros:

Started clearing up and reducing break outs right away.
Cheap
Crazy-vivid dreams
Definite libido enhancement, not that it was low before, but you know

Cons:

Crazy-vivid nightmares as well.. ha
Some people get stomach aches, but I have not had any problems (I cut my 50mg pill in half and take 1 half with breakfast and 1 with dinner)

After I switch birth control pills (from Ortho Cyclen to Lo Ovral), I've been broken out for nearly 5 months. I kept thinking it would kick in and help soon so I just left it. It didn't, so I searched online and found this site recommending zinc and picked some up from WalMart. 50mg tablets by the Spring Valley brand.. It started clearing things up right away. There was greatly reduced size and redness just by the next day and almost completely gone by 3 days. Record healing time for me. I also didn't get any new spots. I am a healthy 20 year old woman.. I eat meat regularly. I was pretty skeptical about adding zinc just because I don't see how I could be deficient, but its helped.. And very quickly. My dreams have been very vivid and I am remembering them now. In the past, I had never usually remembered them. Nightmares are also extra-scary, but I'll take them for the clear skin. I've n ever had an issue with getting an upset stomach with zinc, but I've always taken it about 40 minutes after a meal and I chop the 50mg tablet in half and take it at two different times. Overall, I recommend it. I liked it enough to come here and write a review. This is, literally, only the second review I've ever written (the first being for Underwood Horse Medicine, if anyone cares).
