Pros:

Smoothes skin, brightens, reduces irritation. Cheap, too.

Cons:

None really. You get used to the smell.

I've used this for two days along with Noxzema face wash and calamine lotion. So far it's helped a bit and smoothed my skin and made it real soft.

Pros:

makes my skin feel soft after using, cleansing, cheap, effective

Cons:

the smell

I have only used witch hazel for about a week but it really has cleared up my skin. After using it my skin feels super soft and looks glowy and healthy. The only thing I don't like about witch hazel is the smell, but it goes away after about 10 sec after applying so it shouldn't bother you much. I definitely recommend people with to use it before using expensive toners. This really worked for me!

Pros:

reduces pore size, controls oil, evens skin complexion, reduces dark spots

Cons:

people complain about the smell but it doesn't bother me. Kinda smells like tree bark.

This stuff works great. I typically don't use toners or astringents because they always dry out my skin. However, I decided to use Dickinson 100% natural witch hazel facial toner and it has drastically improved my skin. I have very oily skin and this stuff actually helped reduce my oiliness. It has also evened out my skin complexion. I use it twice a day, at night and in the morning after I wash my face. Even though it has 14% alcohol in it, it surprisingly does not over-dry the skin. The bottle claims that it reduces redness, removes and controls oil, locks in moisture, and maintains the skin's natural moisture balance, which it actually does! If you've been searching for a good toner that doesn't over-dry your skin, this is the stuff for you!

Pros:

Clears skin, improves texture of skin, and it is inexpensive and natural.

Cons:

I don't think there are any, I even like the smell! The only thing that I can think of is, I had to be consistant with it for a significant amount of time before I saw the results.

I am so happy that I found this product!!! I really didn't have high hopes when I bought it. I had just read researched a little and had found that people had great things to say about witch hazel. I decided since it was so inexpensive, I wouldn't be useing much if it didn't work. I bought a generic store brand, because I coudn't afford the more expensive alcohol-free brand name (Thayers). I cleanse with cetaphil, and then sweep a cotton ball with witch hazel on it over my face, I let it compeletely dry and then I apply a light moisterizer. I honestly didn't see any thing really different for a really long time, I just kept using it because it felt nice. Then about a month ago I noticed that my skin has completely changed. My skin was smoother, the pores weren't as visible, and I hadn't had any major breakouts in awhile! I haven't been doing anything really different, so I have to say it is most-likely the witch hazel. I hope this lasts, and I recomend everyone to try this, it is so inexpensive and what do you have to lose? Even if it doesn't work for your acne, you can keep it around the house for other uses (for first aid on cuts, or bruises, burnsl, and swelling). But please give it a fair amount of time to start working, and please research your other products that you uses with the witch hazel because some things won't allow the tannins to take effect (lime juice and others).

Pros:

smell,gentleness

Cons:

none

I have roseacea and anything i use thats harsh make my face red with exception of Thayers (achohol-free) lavender witch hazel. People are complaining about the smell. buy the essential oil scented versions and you will see a huge difference (bit more pricey). ALSO, Some witch hazel products contain alcohol so this can be drying, Dickenson has a lavender but contains alcohol, works if alcohol is not an issue for your skin. however some Thayers brands do not contain alcohol, so make sure you check the ingredients.

Pros:

Shrinks pores, reduces oil production, clears and prevents exsisting pimples, easily available and cheap.

Cons:

None

My skin's intial reaction turned me off from this product. I even contiplated to stop. Use see my first couple of uses my skin was getting: extremely dry/flakey, post pigmentation marks seemed enhanced and red and small bumps along the chin and cheecks appeared. I decided to keep using this product so I could have a fair judgement. It only took about three days for my skin to adjust and boy it was for the better. Months into using I no longer require the use of 10% AHA or peroxide. Remarkeably all my routine consist of is: luke warm water w/ an oil-free gentle cleanser, cotton ball of WH and oil-free Purpose lotion. Viola!

Pros:

It has made pimples much smaller and skin a lot smoother.

Cons:

Smells a bit weird, but its bearable

I have tried a lot of different things, even tea tree oil but didn't work so well. On monday i went to sainsburys and saw witch hazel on the shelves, i had heard it worked before and as it was only 85p i just said 'what the heck' and went ahead. So far my skin feels and looks a lot better, the pimples have reduced a great deal in just around 72 hours. After i put on the Witch hazel i use a antiseptic cream and they work like magic.
