Pros:

stops skin swelling and stops new acne immediately. very cheap price. Good hair growth bcos of sulphur on bactrim, soft skin

Cons:

feeling very tired, blemishes take more than 2 months to disappear, skin high sensitive to sunlight.Should take liver and blood tests

I have been in bactrim for more than 40 days, it sops new acne on the first days itself. But blemishes took more than a month to disappear. It stops acne on the first day itself because its stops skin swelling .....If skin swelling stops, automatically no new acne.but blemishes wil not easy disappear if no skin swelling so u need a topical medicine to make the blemishes to fell. If u have good topical medicine and oral medicine Bactrim it combines and make an end to acne and blemishes. Body will not become immune to this medicine, many people telling bactrim medicine is become immune so again acne breakout. No not at all. Bactrim main activity in body is to stop skin swelling, and decrease the protein needed for acne bacteria growth. killing the bacteria is the 2nd thing. Bactrim 70 % purpose to stop skin swelling & to decrease the protein needed for acne so you lose weight only 30% to kill bacteria. Bactrim Benefits: 1. Stops skin swelling so No acne on first day itself. 2. Very cheap price 3. Good hair growth bcos it has sulphur 4. Weight loss 5. Gives beautiful skin with the combination of topical medicine. 6.You can take any food and chocolates, ice cream etc... Amazing medicine, take continuously for 2 to 3 months to see good results. If u feel very tired or any other effects take a half tablet on night its enough to stop new acne but apply topical medicine on old acne and blemishes. You should take liver and blood tests periodically.Dont take any other medicine while you in bactrim.

Pros:

My skin is so smooth...probably smoother than a baby's butt. I have been using this for about 2 weeks and then stopped, theinfection came back...now I have been on it for over a month (not counting the 1st time) and I wonder if the acne will come bak

Cons:

The fact that it's an antibiotic - yeast infection happened once.

The best stuff in the world (can't say anything about what will happen after I stop using it in a week)!!

By far, best antibiotic for acne but be careful
Ive had severe acne for around 2-3 years now and have taken all sorts of creams/ antibiotics. Some working better than others but none truly clearing up my skin. This was my last choice before having to go accutane because this was the last antibiotic i hadn't tried yet so i was hoping for the best. Within the first week, i already saw amazing improvement and was extremely excited. Around my 3rd week of taking it, i fell incredibly sick. Hives everywhere, back of my throat inflamed to golf ball, sore all over my mouth. It was literally the most pain ive had in all my life . Had to get sent to the ER where a full team of doctors did tests on me to make sure i wasn't having a severe allergic reaction that could kill me. Turns out i just had normal virus that was activating all the symptoms of the anti-biotic. So they made me stop for a week and my virus went away on its own. They couldn't conclude that i was allergic to bactrim so they said i can go back on it but they dont recommend it. I went back on it right away without consulting my derm cause the results i was getting were just too good to pass up and i was willing to take the risk. 4 months later, this pill is still working like magic. Face is soft and smooth as a baby and no symptoms at all. I also have a strict diet since eating dairy/junk food even on this pill still caused to break out a little bit. I would recommend this for anyone but be careful. Im still amazed with the results every day. This pill has saved my confidence

Pros:

My derm originally put me on minocycline, but after the sever side effects I experienced (constantly feeling dizzy), he put me on this. I've been taking Bactrim for a little over 3 months, and began to see results after 1 month. My body acne has nearly completely cleared up. My back, shoulders, and chest look better than ever.

Cons:

Though my body acne is practically gone, the acne on my face is as apparent as ever. I have to admit that the last three months I've gotten really lazy about washing my face every night and applying benzoyl peroxide, so that may be partly why my face hasn't been improving. However, my face hasn't gotten remarkably worse either. This antibiotic has managed to at least prevent my facial acne from getting worse.

I would recommend this for sure. However, this is a sulfa drug-- something that people are allergic to. I have a feeling that a lot of the negative reviews here are from people that didn't realize that they were allergic to sulfa medication.

Pros:

My skin started clearing within the 11 days I took it, and my skin was less oily.

Cons:

I developed an allergic reaction on the 11th day and got hives on my upper arms and foot and had a rash covering most of my body. Thank God I did not have Steven-Johnson Syndrome.

If you are not allergic to Sulfa drugs and do not develop SJS, then it might work well for your acne. I personally do not think it's worth the risk. I wish I had researched SJS before taking this. The pictures were too disturbing to even look at. This is a very serious and potentially deadly condition and you need to be hospitalized in most situations.

Pros:

Clears acne some

Cons:

horrible for you
possible severe side effects

I've taken this last year for a month and then again last month, and It works but I really don't recommend it. It's not that it made me sick, but it made me tired alot and I had to have blood tests every time I took it to see if it wasn't killing me. Maybe it's just the blood taking I hated, but anyways it's not something to run off to ask your derm for.

Pros:

Works fairly fast, cleared up old acne and new forming cysts.

Cons:

Hate being on antibiotics for extended periods

Bactrim works very well, better than Doxy or Minocycline, took Doxy for 4 months and I became resistant to it, broke out like a teenager.. Trying Bactrim as the last stop, will NOT take Accutane, took it 20 years ago, worked like a miracle but very harsh side effects and long term illness, Accutane is a God send but prepare for health issue's later in life, SERIOUS health issues. Bactrim has done a terrific job clearing up my acne and cystic acne, but will only take at short term increments. Good luck everyone, I know how frustrating acne is, I am a 44 year old female who has been batteling Cystic acne since I was 16.

Pros:

Face started clearing after a couple weeks
Cheap

Cons:

Horrilbe headache and body aches.
Fatigue
Flu-like Symptoms
loss of appetite (maybe not such a bad thing ;)

I was taking 2 bactrim pills a day. During the 3rd week I thought I was coming down with a bad cold or the flu. I had horrible joint aches and a horrible headache. After the 3rd day of feeling like this I thought it was odd those were my only symptoms. No cough, throwing up, stomach ache, etc. I called the local pharm. and she told me to stop taking the bactrim. When I went to my derm the following monday he sd I was allergic to it. I didn't think these symptoms would mean it was an allergic reaction? But I guess its better to assume that then be sorry. It was miserable though there was one night I couldn't even get out of bed because my head and body ached so bad! I guess there is no proof it was the bactrim, but I felt better as soon as I stopped taking it and I probably won't try it again. My body just didn't react well to it at all.

Pros:

clears skin

Cons:

need to limit sun exposure
been feeling sick (due to Bactrim?)

I have only been on it for about two weeks, but noticed better skin clairty and almost no new breakouts. will update again in another two weeks. so far nothing to0 odd to report as far as side effects. I have felt a bit tired lately and the last few days have felt sick. Also, last night at 2am a priest knocked at my door and asked if I believe in the devil..ok, that last part is not true.. Dunno if I can attribute any of this to Bactrim...will see. so far, so good.
