Pros:

Begins to work straight away. Basically stops any spots you get from turning red, and they heal very fast.

Cons:

Sometimes forgetting to take the pills because you forget you even suffer from acne with this stuff

Trimethoprim works fast and very effective. The only thing I have ever taken or used that has made any difference. Been taking for three years and had no side effects. Came off it for a short while and skin gradually got worse again.

Pros:

You will see amazing results within days of starting this medication. Works like a charm!

Cons:

Occasional headache and upset stomach. Also, after getting off of it slowly but surely your acne comes back and you'll have to get right back on. Also, missing doses is a big no no! You will break out horribly if you miss!Don't miss and you'll be ok.

I have been struggling with my skin for over 10 years. When I turned 17 the derm put me on Bactrim and it kept me clear for over 4 years. No, I wasn't completely clear everyday but it limited my break outs and helped and improved my skin so much and better than any other product out there. I know they say it's horrible to stay on anti-biotics for long periods of time but let me just say, I was on it for 4 years and had perfect health. I wasn't sick one day in 4 years and no exageration. Not even so much as a cold which for me is very odd. This medication helps with every kind of acne a person is struggling with and I also noticed that my pimples were less painful and red amd vanished within days. Also, the biggest tip I have for anyone is to NEVER pick at your face. That can cause more damage than you realize. I would pick my face everyday and little do you know that just spreads that infection to other places. No picking! Wash your face in the dark if you have to. I do, it works:)

Pros:

Can you believe how cheap this stuff is? Works immediately!

Cons:

Havent seen any yet

Seems like the guys in the forums I have been in have a reaction less of the time than the females. I used to have minor to moderate acne. I have been on this stuff for more than 4 months and I rarely ever get a pimple. If I do, its gone in 2-3 days. I also use benzoyl peroxide every now and then, but could most likely stop that altogether and just use the bactrim. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and get some. I will attempt to go on it once a day instead of the current two a day. PS. Get it from Walmart. Cheapest there is.

Pros:

Cheap. Few side effects.

Cons:

Pills large and a bit hard to swallow. Some nausea from time to time.

I took 800mg 2x/day for 8 weeks, now I'm at half that and being weaned off. Very effective for my severe acne. I had been on topicals for 7 weeks prior to that and it wasn't clearing me up enough. This cleared me up the rest of the way. I now get about 1 pimple a week. I apparently am alergic to tetracyclines so I can't take minocycline, doxicyline or tetracycline. This is a good alternative if you have problems or bad side effects from those drugs.

Pros:

Clears acne fast
Simple to take

Cons:

None so far

I've been taking Trimethoprim for about 9 weeks now and my skin has nearly totally cleared. I've had no side effects, so I just hope it keeps working. I just wish I had found this sooner.

Pros:

clears skin quickly. very inexpensive.

Cons:

what ever you do dont drink while you take it. At least in my case, if i went out and drank i would get the worst headaches after just a few drinks.

The stuff works. After about 2 weeks i saw great results. Besides the headaches i never did get any bad side effects. If you want fast results then i def recommend it.

Pros:

Clears painful, cystic acne.

Cons:

Possible blood, kidney, and liver problems from long-term use.

After trying ProActiv, Murad, and Nature's Cure, I saw a derm. for prescribed oral meds. No luck with Mino, Doxy, or Differin Gel. Next step? Bactrim. Wow! I was on the medication for 8 months with no side effects. I never even suffered one pimple while on the medication. My skin kept improving, improving, improving. When I lost my insurance, however, I was forced to stop the med. After about 6 months of no medication, I experienced a flare-up. Frustrated to see my skin so horrible again, I visited a low-cost clinic and was able to get the Bactrim for $25. Great medication.

Pros:

Whenever I get a pimple or two it goes away after I take this.

Cons:

HUGE PILL, what I'd advise you to do is to have some water in your mouth, put the pill in, and swallow it with more water. I hated the taste whenever it smeared on my throat. |: It doesn't help with my red marks but it works great with my pimples.

Doesn't really show effects on red marks for me, but I rarely get pimples anymore. I'm trying to get out of it forever, so I'm finding a natural and permanent way to get rid of my acne.
