Pros:

It deffinetly works. It gets rid of acne. Forever? No.

Cons:

I have used this product for... 4-5 months I'd say. It's great if you want immidiate clear skin. But it can cause liver problems and is not something you can take forever.

I STRONGLY advise if you decide to take this that you ontinue to do acne research and start a natural way of getting rid of acne. Bactrim will help it but the moment you stop you are back to where you started. This is a good medicine to take temporarily and not forever. I have recently stopped and let my natural regimen take over by taking fish oil, zinc, and vitamen B. THIS is a cure you can take to the moment you die and might actually make you live longer! It helps with your heart! Please dont rely on this product fully it is just something to give you some self confidence but you need to think of a future regimen. Don't rely on antibiotics, you dont want to kill your liver and perhaps worse.

Pros:

No bad side effects for me.

Cons:

It was like taking a sugar pill. No effect on my acne.

For some people it seemed this worked great. My acne may have been too severe for Bactrim to work. I'm currently taking 60 mg accutane, let's hope that does the job!

Pros:

I love this prescription. I took it last winter because I always break out in the winter and it cleared me up completely within a few months... when I came off it I had almost an entire year of clear skin. Had to go back though :(

Cons:

Nothing for me...taste bad if they get stuck in your throat.

See a dermatologist. I know that it is expensive for most of us... but it is worth it. Even just the idea that something is helping you can make it better. If your skin reacts well to sulfur I would really try this... and for me it wasn't one of those treatments that takes several months to see results, it works fairly fast.

Pros:

Works so well. I've had bad acne for years and this is the only thing that has ever worked for me and kept working. I only gave it a 4 b/c it won't work once you stop taking it.

Cons:

You MUST stay on it, which is bad for any sort of medication. If you stop, you are guaranteed to break out, which can be really depressing for some people. I know I don't want to go back.

So great because it is not as harmful as accutane, it's inexpensive, and it works very well. But you may end up going on accutane anyway b/c as soon as you stop this, you're gonna need something to control that acne! But it's worth it to get some time with clear skin!

Pros:

IT DEFINATELY WORKS. I STARTED GETTING ACNE AFTER I HAD MY SON AND THE DR. PUT IN AN IUD. AFTER THAN MY SKIN WENT TO HELL. SORRY FOR THE WORD BUT THATS WHAT HAPPEN. I HAVE NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACNE BEFORE.

Cons:

I REALLY HAVE NONE OTHER THAN LARGE PILL AND IT WILL CAUSE NAUSEA IF YOU DON'T EAT BEFORE OR DURING THE TIME YOU TAKE IT

IT REALLY WORKS BUT THE ONLY CONCERN I HAVE IS TAKING AN ANTIBIOTIC FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME SO I AM DOING RESEACH ON THIS ANTIBIOTIC ONLY. I USED PREVIOUSLY BUT HAD TO QUIT BECAUSE I HAD A BABY AND STARTED BACK A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND RIGHT NOW I AM NOT TAKING IT BUT AM STILL CONCERNED ABOUT MY SKIN SO I WILL PROBABLY TAKE IT FOR A WHILE QUIT GO BACK TO IT.ECT... MY FACE LOOKS GOOD RIGHT NOW BUT MY UPPER BACK HAS BROKE OUT AGAIN SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL HAVE TO START TAKING IT AGAIN. I ALSO HAVE A PICKING ISSUE SO I AM SURE THAT KEEPS ME FROM HEALING AS WELL. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

Pros:

Excellent- I thought I had given up, but this really works! I'm taking half the pill a day (half pill morning, half-at night

Cons:

constipation is an issue if you're prescribed Double the dosage for severe acne, which is what I had- but it only lasts for couple days. This medication has barely any side-effects!

Easy, VERY cheap (i pay zero with my insurance!!)-- I have school insurance..and bottom line- IT WORKS! so everyone, go ask your dermatologist for a prescription!

Pros:

cleared my cystic acne less than a week

Cons:

It gives me nausea everyday, severe gastrointestinal pain throughout the day and night.

My doctor prescribed me this to clear up my moderate acne. I have a history of Gastritis (Inflammation of the abdomen) but my doctor still says to take it 2x a day. Within 6 days of taking it, i experienced a drug interaction. today i went to the hospital for a very severe stomach pain that won't go away for 2 1/2 hrs. my dr still advised me to continue taking it and that i have to take Prilosec. i dont believe her so i will stop taking it before it gets worst.

Pros:

Worked to clear cystic acne when topical agents were ineffective for me (40 year old female ). Highly recommend Bactrim for moderate to severe acne.

Cons:

Must drink 8-10 glasses of water a day in addition to taking 1-2 pills per day. Long term use of antibiotic requires doctor supervision and blood testing for toxicity/depletion of red and white blood cells.

The antibiotic contains Sulfamethoxazole, so should not be used by individual's with sulfa allergies. This ingredient in Bactrim requires water consumption water to prevent kidney stones. (REALLY IMPORTANT to drink 8 ounces of water with the pill and do not take diuretics with antibiotic). The antibiotic also uses Trimethoprim which may cause anemia from a deficiency of folic acid. Bottom line is Bactrim can be very effective, but with the potential side effects (especially the disruption of folic acid metabolism) it should be the option after other non-prescription solutions have been ruled out.

Pros:

Didn't upset my stomach like most antibiotics do. Seems to be clearing up my back acne. I got it filled for free at Publix

Cons:

Large pills...must be taken 2x day

I started taking them on Thursday, it's now Monday and my back acne seems to be clearing up. I've been taking them in conjunction with a sulphur wash and topical treatment (Ziana). Hasn't done much for the light acne on my face.
