Clears Skin. Gets rid of Acne.
I've had acne for about 8 years, but until last year, it was under control. I used Proactiv mostly, which I do not recommend (I wrote another review on their products). I stopped using benzoyl peroxide last year to see if I 'grew out' of acne, but I was sorely mistaken. The worst acne I've ever had sprung up, so I went and tried acne.org treatment, which includes a cleanser, benzoyl peroxide, and a moisturizer. The cleanser and moisturizer ended up making things worse. I incorrectly went to try so-called 'natural' things, yet that failed as well. I had the idea of simply going back to my old regimen, which was pretty much a Giovanni cleanser, some benzoyl peroxide, and aloe vera. This worked wonderfully, but I have had to follow common sense and trial and error. I worked my way up to following Dan's advice, which ended up being a mistake. This was the part where he states to use TWO pumps or an entire fingers length of benzoyl peroxide. This, no matter how far into the regimen I am, ends up being excessive and makes my face as red as the devils butt. I, personally, only use one pump, which, compared to most companies recommendation, is still plenty. I also put it on my face only when it's convenient, but it's usually in the morning. At night will just be a gentle cleanser, as Dan recommends, and aloe vera. I have to use it daily though. If your face gets really red, like mine, stop using the benzoyl peroxide until the redness goes away. Lets your skin adjust. The main thing is that benzoyl peroxide takes time to clear your skin. It took me 10 weeks to clear me from acne, and if I stop taking the benzoyl peroxide, just like I did before, it will only cause a huge amount of awful acne to reappear. The benzoyl peroxide gets rid of, initially, and then prevents acne from forming. Benzoyl peroxide just adds oxygen to your skin, which kills the acne as it can't form when oxygen is present. Although, you may gets one or two pimples, but that should be rare. You can't become immune to benzoyl peroxide, like antibiotics, because that is physically impossible for your skin to become immune to oxygen. I hope this helps. I wrote this because I came to this site to clear my skin of acne, and now that I did, I thought this review would help those who will also come to this site for help in fixing their acne as well.

Pros:

Works fast and literally kills pimples in their tracks.

Cons:

none yet

I have been struggling with cystic acne for years - I always seemed to get 1-2 really bad (scarring) pimples a month and ever since I started a 2x face washing regimen and use acne.org benzoyl Peroxide I am sure I will never have another scarring pimple in my lifetime. I only wish I could have found this stuff sooner. I have 3 scars that are probably permanent - unless acne.org comes up with some crazy cool solution for that too. I LOVE ACNE.ORG's Benzoyl Peroxide Gel!!! Highly recommend!

Pros:

Clears acne better than anything else I've ever tried - & I've tried almost everything!

Cons:

bleaches some fabrics, but is worth it to me for clear skin

This is at least my 3rd review of this product. I've used Acne.org's products for more than a year - I've lost track, but I even think it's nearing 2 years - & I love it even more today! I'm to the point now where I only have to use 1 full squirt twice a day to keep my skin perfectly clear & smooth. There's no residue, no unpleasant smell. Yes, it will bleach some fabrics - it is benzoyl peroxide, after all - but after battling moderately severe acne for close to 20 years, it's worth it to me to have clear skin. I love, love, LOVE these products & would never use anything else!

Pros:

Great acne treatment
Much better value than Neutrogena On-The-Spot

Cons:

Some redness (gets better with time)
Dry skin if not using a moisturizer

I highly recommend the acne.org BP treatment. I use it nightly after washing my face with cetaphil's gentle cleanser, and apply the acne.org aha+ product once the BP is dry. This combination has worked so well for me. I used accutane years ago and my acne was gone for a couple of years, but it began creeping back eventually, and I stumbled upon this website while looking for possible solutions to my recurring problem. Initially I just used the BP nightly (follow the directions about giving your skin some time to get used to the fully recommended amount) and it alone worked very well. I never do anything in the morning besides wash and moisturize (use SPF if using BP!), because I don't like the idea of going through the day with anything besides moisturizer on my face (the BP will certainly bleach any clothing it comes in contact with). I decided to try the AHA+ also, and it really helped my skin take that one final step from really good to great. Try this product for a couple weeks and then try the AHA+ too- you'll be glad you did!

Pros:

Completely eliminated large cysts.
Dramatically decreased redness.
Went from a face full of blemishes to almost completely clear.
Works better than prescriptions I tried.

Cons:

Does not do anything for acne marks, but I never expected it to.
Will make your skin dry and flaky if not used to BP.

Unhappy with everything else including prescriptions, facial cleansers, chemical peels, and going au natural, I desperately tried the full regimen and vowed to wait a few months before I could review it honestly. Let me tell you I am completely suprised and happy to report a positive review! I had used Benzyl Peroxide before with a dermatlogist but never had results like this. I have never had this type of improvement with ANY presciption regimes my dermatologist had me on! Upon beginning the full regime, my face instantly got less red and I could see dramatic improvement in blemishes, getting clearer everyday. After maybe a month, some new blemishes began to appear but thankfully acne.org warns that this is normal and simply purging, so I continued and I am definitely glad I did! It's now been about four months and my face is practically clear. It completely eliminated huge cysts and reallly minimized the amount of breakouts and redness. Now it won't do anything for post-acne marks, but it really controlled my face like nothing I have tried before. To go from my almost SEVERE type acne to only, literally, a couple of pimples is completely amazing!! I do the complete regimen at night and in the mornings only wash my face with a simple sulfur/salcylic acid soap (and sometimes some moisturizing like Aloe Vera). I have started to apply the regimen to my chest and it has cleared that up too. If your face is not used to benzyl peroxide, you will get dry and peel, but that is why moisturizers exist. You will probably get an increase in blemishes about 2-4 weeks in, but don't give up! If you have light/moderate acne, I really have a hard time seeing how this could not completely clear your face entirely. If you have moderate to severe like I do, it should either clear up your face enirely or at least maintain it very well. Of course everyone's body is different, but I HIGHLY recommend the acne.org regimen to at least try.

Pros:

-Spreads very evenly and smoothly with no residue or balling up/clumping!
-Clear skin
-Great value
-Not drying if used with a good moisturizer.
-Fast shipping

Cons:

None so far. Only been using this particular BP for about a week, but have been using 2.5 BP for over 4 months.

I have moderate to harsh acne, getting cysts now and again...This bottle prevents and gets rid of existing acne, esp. when I use it with the AHA from acne.org. I am in love!

Pros:

I get acne along my chin and jaw very badly. I use the Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide as a spot treatment and could see results immediately. I do recommend using a small amount as it can irritate your skin. It works wonders for me! I have used Clean & Clear and other name brand items for months at a time and this product cleared up my skin within the first week!!

Cons:

My skin did burn with the initial use but the second time using it, I could tell my skin had adapted to it.

Use lightly and great for spot treatments.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin pretty quick. Best stuff I've ever used!

Cons:

More sensitive to the sun. Compared with other products it's a good deal, but after shipping and tax it's still a little pricey.

I noticed a difference in just a couple weeks. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now and my face has stopped producing new pimples. I don't think I've had a new zit for a few weeks now. The black heads on my nose are smaller too. I have to admit I haven't been following the regimen everyday. Many days I only do it once, but it still is working great for me.

Pros:

Huge bottle will last long
Gel consistency spreads
Pump (16 oz)
Effective

Cons:

N/A

The smell doesn't bother me, I don't have adverse reactions to the BP, and it works well. I'm approaching 1 month of the Regimen and my skin is getting better. I was using the 2% BP by AcneFree, but Dan's BP is much cheaper per ounce and for shipping. I can't use 3 full pumps. It's too much, even though it's the recommended dose.
