Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Depending on your skin type it may or may not work, it's all trial and error. I have bacne , and acne on my chest, and face. Recently my acne got terrible on my face and I tried this. I only used a q tip and the lid of the oil and used the tiny bit on my face and it seems to shrink and work a bit and my skin felt extremely better after. Once or twice a week I get a bath and I put a TINY bit of it in the bath and it cleared up my chest and back quite a bit. I recommend using ice or a wet paper towel that has been put in the freezer. Your skin gets very hot and irritated when you get a Pimple or break out, this reduces the swelling and redness. After this it seems to be clearing up, no medication, not a thousand products. Points: DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE!!!! NO BAD! Touching your face can lead to Bactria and germs getting in your pores. 2) Consult doctor. Dermatologists know what they're doing trust me lol 3) change your pillow case, I also found this to help, changing your pillow case makes sure you aren't laying in dirt 4) Everyone is different, this may not work for you. This is just a suggestion, I have very I between skin, some places are SUPER oily and gross, others are dry and peeling. This is just what seems to be working for now. Only you know you.

Pros:

its natural, not as drying as bp

Cons:

smell, messiness, bit expensive, it only works to a certain extent

it did not clear all of my acne, so my face was never fully clear, i personally think bp is better but bp is more drying than this, but i still think everyone should try it, cuz theres no harm in trying it might work better for you than it did for me

Pros:

-reduces redness.
-helps control acne spreading
- the way it rolls on stops bacteria growing
- good when used with Bp
- prefect size for in your makeup bag.
- good to put on throughout the day if you feel a spot coming on.

Cons:

- you have to put it on often
- I dont feel i could just use the tea tree.

The product i bought was a tea tree oil blemish stick. After having a large breakout my mum suggested it. I tried it to good sucess, it helps soothe the acne while reducing it. I found it usefull however i wouldnt just use it on its on.

Pros:

Worked

Cons:

Stinks.
Caused rash one time when I didn't dilute with carrier oil or aloe vera gel.
Drying
Took longer than BP

I didn't know at the time I tried tea tree oil that the study comparing it with BP to treat acne used 5% tea tree gel. Next time I'll try that because even diluted tea tree oil is just too drying for my skin and smells very strong. Probably because I'm not diluting it no where near as low of concentration as 5%.

Decent Spot Treatment, but be careful.
I have used this before as a spot treatment. I get a Q-tip, wet it and then add a few drops and apply it to spots. I think it works pretty well, but I haven't noticed it to be any more effective than the Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatment that I use. I use the JASON brand, which is 100%. I have also tried this all over my face several ways and it was awful. I tried adding a few drops into a DIY toner as well as a DIY cleanser when I was experimenting with different natural remedies. It always made my face feel so tight and dry and irritated no matter how diluted it was or how few drops I added. I don't even have sensitive skin, but this just doesn't work well with me when applied to my whole face. If you are going to try this, start with a spot treatment before trying it on your whole face.

Pros:

I works great as SPOT TREATMENT ONLY
What is does for me is totally eliminate the pimple and leave a dry skin patch, that peels off and reveals clear (slightly pink) skin that fades.

Cons:

Added it to my facewash, and it ruined my clear skin. Left me with red spots that still wont go away. Horrible rash..:(
Smells a bit.

I have been using it as a spot treatment and that worked great. So i added a drop or two to my cleanser, which worked great too. Unitl the 3rd day and now I have an awful rash all over my face. Red spots everywhere. So be careful. I thought my skin was used to it, but I guess not. Stick to using it as a spot treatment, or buy a cleanser where it is ONE of the ingredients..... Moral of the story: Be careful. Just because I had an allergic reaction doesn't mean you will too, but seriously, test it for a long time. The emotional damages from this is far worse than a few spots.

Mediocre
This does get rid of spots and redness but over a long period of time. I find that I can't use it every day because my skin gets dry. Would recommend to those with oily / combination skin. I use the Boots own brand 100% oil and I don't dilute it, I simply apply 3 drops of it on a cotton bud and wipe it directly on my spots. Do not use it all over your face as it could severely dry it out. I would use this again however I find that I would use this every other day at most

Pros:

It works to an extent. I have oily skin around my nose chin and my forehead area. When I started using this product I would rub it in the oily areas after washing my face. The first few weeks it worked well but after the 3rd week, I broke out like crazy and my nose looked like Roodalf the rain deer. I might have over used it or something but my nose started to scab up and hurt. So I stopped using it.

Cons:

Makes skin dry and smells like Raid ant killer. If you use too much it will scab the skin, and clog the pores.

It is a good product to use for spot treatment, but in large areas it shouldn't be used. You get some massive side effects.

Good acne treatment
Helps a lot with my mild acne. Has to be diluted first if it is 100% tea tree oil or it will burn the skin.
