Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

It has a lovely smell and unlike other products has not caused any irritation to my skin!

Cons:

It unfortunately doesn't seem to be improving my acne, more or less just keeping it stable and under control. I bought the 100% tea tree oil from the body shop and facial toner, matifying moisturiser, facial exfoliater, foaming face wash, face mask

It is good for keeping my acne under control BUT no signifcant improvement has been made. I haven't broken out since using this product BUT it hasn't cleared up any of the remaining spots. I will continue to use because all the other products I had tried were clearing up the acne I had but then I was breaking out in other areas. I am going to recommend it but I do not guarantee that it will help you. Also it was wuite expensive to buy all the tea tree oil products and it came to well over 30-40 pounds.

Pros:

really good at removing the acne, makes skin feel good

Cons:

makes my eyes water like crazy!

So I just started using it like two days ago and already I see a difference. I bought the one from The Body Shop. I used it as a spot treatment over my moisturizer (once the moisturizer wasnt wet on my skin anymore) and within a few days I see the big ones already starting to go away. I like the herbally smell although it seems like a lot of people on here don't. it relaxes me. also it stings a bit at first on the open zits but it stops fast and it feels your skin feeling healthier.

Pros:

a little drying
natural

Cons:

smells bad
greasy (but that's to be expected)
not very effective

This might have helped a little bit, but really I just noticed peeling and no change in the actual pimple. I use it on my scalp now, though, and now it's cleaner and flake free!!

Pros:

It helps with new pimples if you catch them right away. I was able to stop a good amount before they fully formed. Doesn't dry my skin out, but my skin is naturally oily to begin with.

Cons:

Nonetheless, it hasn't helped me stop my acne from appearing. I just recently got two large cysts last week that are just now healing. My skin is still very red in those spots. It also smells strong.

I think it good to keep around for the occasional zit that you can catch early. Also, it wouldn't hurt to mix a few drops in your regular toner. I feel it isn't any miracle cure, then again most of know there isn't one otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.

Pros:

might work for some people... i like the smell. made blackheads even smaller however..

Cons:

i used 100% pure tea tree all over. i have small blackheads, pretty much unnoticeable but the oil made my forehead breakout in pimple like spots on first application.

very cheap in the UK, superdrug. please dilute!!!

Pros:

Natural, afordable. I acually like the smell :)

Cons:

Made my face worse.

Turned the normal pimples into cystic acne :( I really wanted this to work. I wouldn't recomend this to anyone, without really doing your homework.

Pros:

cleared the pimple

Cons:

dryness, iritation, redness

Tea Tree oil really improved my skin for about a week and after that week i had one of the worst break out i've ever had. It shrunk the pimple size but not the redness. i could only put it on the big red pimples. if i put it on anywhere else on my skin a pimpe would form there. if you are goign to use tea tree oil use it in moderation especailly if you have sensitive skin. it is rough on skin and overuse makes it worse

jealous of others' success

Tea tree oil really does no good for me. I hear it is like that for some people. I wish it worked as well as it did for other people, but when I apply it my skin gets so angry at me and I break out. Irritating, drying and does no good. HOWEVER! I will say that I seem to take it well in non leave-on products like cleansers, as long as it a helper, not the main active ingredient, so I don't avoid it if I see it on a label for masks and cleansers.
