Not seeing any results
After reading all of these wonderful reviews about tea tree oil I went out and bought some for myself. It's been a few months and I have not seen any results. i had a huge pimple and applied tto as a spot treatment and nothing happened :/. I will continue using it for six months. Hopefully I will be back with a better review!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Didn't help acne, but created new red bumps and dry patches.

I think I'm allergic to this stuff, and it doesnt help with my pimples at all but makes my face covered in new ones. I used tea tree oil a month ago and it did alright but it didnt help my acne, but a week of using it made my face dry and I had huge orange dry patches on my face. It was horrible and after not using it for awhile, I thought I'd give it a go again thinking that I had just used too much. But the next day my face was itchy and covered with small red bumps. My face looks horrible now, and I will not be using it again.

maybe try die-looting the oil by adding water or an oil like coconut oil that is less strong and will hopefully make it better for people with more sensitive skin :) good luck hope this helps

Caused abundance of cystic acne
I actually bought pure tea tree oil to treat some sort of facial fungus/yeast that is causing my skin to heel and peel repeatedly. For that purpose it has been awesome- the peeling and irritation have come to a stop and I've used tons of stuff, including harsh perscription meds from the derm-nothing worked but tea tree oil. with that being said my face is breaking out like crazy now! Very frustrating, its like it cleared up one problem and stated another. I'm 45 and since I quit using Nicotine through smoking or the gum a few years back my acne had mostly stopped, but now my face is covered in huge pimples. I do use only ONE drop of tea tree oil per 3 drops jojoba oil and a couple drops witch hazel. I've used jojoba and witch hazel for a long time so I know that's not the cause. I may try diluting the tea tree oil even more and see if it'll still kill the fungus but stop breaking me out.

You should try diluting it or mixing it with another oil, like avocado, coconut, or jojoba.

Try this but for atleast a month ok.... drink a glass of water with organic apple cider vinegar 2tbs morning and night, get a clarasonic facial brush and Mario badescu glycolic foaming facial cleanser (ulta), organic coconut oil, and 100% organic tea tree oil. Make sure you eso your makeup off every night. 1. Oil cleanse- rub coconut oil all over your face to remove makeup and the wash off soap. 2. Use the spin brush with the foaming cleanser. 3. Moisturize with coconut oil and 3-5 drops tea tree oil 4. Spot treat pure tea tree oil every night as keep your hair clean so you don't get pimples around you hair line

Pros:

Lasts a while, as it must be diluted.

Cons:

Incredibly strong smell, expensive, didn't do anything to my acne, made me break out more.

I tried tea tree oil, but it was ineffective. I used it every day for about two weeks, but there was no difference in my acne. In fact, the first day I used the oil, I didn't dilute and it worsened my acne. After that, I diluted it but it still didn't do anything. Moreover, the smell is incredibly strong. Thankfully my roommate kind of liked the smell, but if you're living with someone, the smell is very powerful. All in all, an ineffective and expensive product. Did absolutely nothing to my acne.

Pros:

- This didn't make me break out any more than I normally do
- No redness or having my skin peeling when I used this treatment

Cons:

- I didn't necessarily break out more, but I had the feeling that my face was a lot oiler the next day. You get a nice refreshing feeling right away after using this product, but the following day, my face didn't feel that great.
- The smell is interesting. You get used to it after wearing the formula for a while
- Hard to find. I had to buy mine at the Body Shop.

Unless you're a big fan of natural remedies and would love to try something new, I suggest you not buy this product. I had to buy mine at the Body Shop for $9. I also tried the Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask (bought on sale for $6, originally priced at $15). The tea tree mask is similar to the tea tree oil in the same way that it makes my skin feel more oily the next day. AND YOU DON'T WANT THAT. I suppose it doesn't hurt to try the product, I just never got the results that I expected I would. Maybe if I chose to use the product for more than a few weeks?

Pros:

Not awfully expensive, if you find from eco shop.

Cons:

Did not work.
Smells awful.

I tried tea tree oil after a beautician from the body shop recommended it for me. I bought their brand and I bought other brand from eco shop. Neither worked, and the smell was just eye watering. It did work wonderfully on flu and blocked nose when I put a drop in hot water and put a towel over my head, though!

Causes acne. Something this harsh should not be on your skin.
Used it for a giant cyst persistent on my right cheek 2 years ago and remember it did not help at all and infact caused cystic acne all over my face (blackheads whiteheads nodules etc) which i still have to deal with till this day. So a month ago i bought tea tree oil forgetting what it did to me (dried my skin ,scarred my face, caused acne) for my itchy dry scalp. I used it on my scalp go to sleep next day i wake up....'hello darkness my old friend ive come to talk with you again'. I wake up and see the giant red nodule that haunted me for ages on my cheek appear again that after a month and a half goes down (with excessive icing and drawing salve) but the redness is still there as well as it causing me to break out all over my face and even though the spots have been drained the marks are still there. Also i forgot to mention i have eczema too and sensitive skin.

I think you need to read other people's experiences with tea tree oil. Many people using this oil experience burning and it is harsh, so you need to dilute it with either other oils, water, or even raw honey. I'm afraid that tea tree oil is still the best thing in the world, and your 1 star rating is just the reflection of your bad experience. I would say try again, but with dilution.
