Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

I use The Body Shop line of products, and I can already see results after a few tries! My skin is less blotchy/red and the bumps don't look as big. The smell isn't strong or offensive. Plus, it doesn't bleach like Retin-A and benzoyl peroxide

Cons:

The stores aren't always well stocked so you may have to make a couple of trips before they have the inventory you want.

My acne isn't too bad, but it's been tough to get rid of for the past 6 years. I've tried the whole lot of Rx meds, including Accutane and Retin-A, but they were all either too harsh or didn't work. The Body Shop has a great line of products including face washes, toners, moisturizers, spot treatments, masks, etc. Currently I'm using Neutrogena face washes and I apply the tea tree oil toner and mattifying moisturizer at night. I also use the blemish stick if I notice a soon-to-be zit at night and in the morning. I plan on buying the mask once the store has it back in stock. I'm praying that this stuff pulls through for me! I especially like that The Body Shop promotes natural, fair trade, environmental-friendly products. If you want to try it now, all the tea tree oil products are 2 for $18 this month. Bottomline? Good for mild acne on sensitive skin. Doesn't cause dryness or peeling.

Pros:

Shrinks pimples ,especially whiteheads and dry outs zits quickly.

Cons:

The smell isn't great.

It works, I didn't dilute it and used it as a spot treatment, my skin was already dry so I can't say it dried my face out but I read it gets better with more use.

Pros:

immediately starts to reduce the size of whiteheads and cysts

Cons:

can cause redding of surrounding area

I dip a wet q-tip into a bottle of PURE tea tree oil and apply it to my cysts or whiteheads for up to a minute, holding it on top of them until I feel a slight burn. Within a minute they are half their size! It is amazing. I've had sever acne around my mouth and chin for the past 4 years (I'm 24) and nothing has had the effect tea tree oil has. I have extremely sensitive skin, I've had awful allergic reactions to different products before (I stay far far far away from anything with Salicylic acid acid in it). Tea tree oil causes some redness and drying, so just make sure to dilute-- don't put it on your face full strength. It also doesn't seem to prevent future breakout so I combine with 'the regime.' You can find bottles of pure tea tree oil at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.

Pros:

It clears some of your acne up

Cons:

smells terrible and blinds your eyes a bit

The bottom line is it does help with small pimples. It worked for me a treat. It cleared some of my pimples up but not all. If you have very severe acne I do not reccomend this but its good for people with tiny spots.

Pros:

natural, doesn't make me peel

Cons:

scent takes some getting used to

i LOVE this stuff! i mix half of a dropper full with two ounces of jojoba oil in a dropper bottle, and use it after i wash my face. it may not be for everyone, but it's dramatically reduced the redness, pain, and quantity of my pimples. on a related note, i use dr. bronner's tea tree oil miracle soap to clean my face. again, the scent is VERY herbal, a bit like eucalyptus, but it wears off very quickly, and you get used to it.

Pros:

Helps dry up pimples faster
Great as a toner when diluted

Cons:

Strong herbal smell

I dilute my tea tree oil with water and use as a toner over my problem areas, or I'll just use it straight to spot treat. It's definitely reduced the size of my pimples and helped them clear up faster. Smell is very strong though, I got used to it.

Pros:

Good on smaller, milder acne.
Does Work.
not too drying

Cons:

The smell, everyone hates it. I, like it.
May dry and burn....but not really? Unless used improperly.
Doesnt work for harsher acne.

I use this as a go to spot treatment for midler pimpels that pop up on my cheek. Reduces sweeling works fast, and makes a pimple go away in 1-3 days(: Doesnt work on REALLY infalmed acne. Good thing for your occasinoal zit. Dont use this for treating seriouser acne. It wont work for tohse that need something liek Differin. And its organic(:
