Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Dries up zits fast
Practically no post acne marks
Natural
Relatively cheap (a small bottle lasts a long time)

Cons:

Really strong smell
Can be drying if you use to much
Doesn't prevent acne

I use it full strength as a spot treatment twice a day and it's AWESOME! It's not a miracle (in my experience anything that claims to be is a gimmick) but after 2 or 3 days (sometimes less) a new zit will be pretty much gone. If it's a cyst it might take a little longer and some zapzyt gel, but I always see improvement by the next day. And combined with lemon juice it's helping get rid of previous marks too. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the smell can be overwhelming and it doesn't really prevent acne.

Pros:

Treats pimples
Helps fade post acne marks
Gets rid of redness
Makes skin less oily

Cons:

The smell!!
Stings eyes
Not good if you have sensitive skin.

I've honestly only been using this for 2 days but I love it! I have noticed such a difference in my face it's incredible. A lot of my marks have started to fade more. Better than before I was using Tea Tree oil. And my redness has been calmed. My pimples are taking a little bit to go away but, my pimples are tough. If you have sensitive skin, I do not recommend using this. I can see how it would burn skin. The only negatives I can find of this product was the smell. It smells awful.

Pros:

Hollywood & Beauty Tea Tree Oil:
shrunk bumps and left no blemish after continued use for about 4 or 5 days

Nature & Beauty:
seems to be reducing redness and bumps (only got it today)

Cons:

Hollywood & Beauty Tea Tree oil:
Runny and may get into the eyes if on lower half of the forehead and on lips if under nose

Nature & Bounty Tea Tree Oil:
Strong smell

Well, I don't know if these Tea Tree Oils are all different from the other but I didn't by this specific brand. I bought the 2 kinds they sold at Walgreens: Nature & Bounty Tea Tree Oil: this is the one with the very very pungent. Sometimes I think the smell is unique, but it's just really odd. Hollwood Beauty Tea Tree Oil: on the label, it states this specific Tea Tree oil as being for the Scalp but I used it on my skin because the lady there told me a number of other people had done so and reported good things. Its very runny on the skin and tends to leak downward no matter how well you rub it in. This tends to cause a stinging sensation to the eyes if it's placed anywhere on the lower to mid half of your forehead. If placed underneath your nose, it runs into your mouth. Maybe that's why they designed this one for the scalp as the above Tea Tree Oil does not have this runniness problem. My trick was putting it on before bedtime so my eyes would be closed because I had a bump on the lower half of my forehead. I am a light-skinned African American male 24 years of age. I do not have bad acne but I get a couple bumps every now and then that leave blemishes that seem to last forever so it is important for me to tackle those bumps and keep them from turning into blemishes. Both Tea Tree Oil products have done that. Both Tea Tree oil products shrunk my developing bumps after only a few days and left no blemish marks on my skin. Just shrunk them until they disappeared. It's important to note that that I have been using Hollywood & Beauty Tea Tree Oil for well over a month now and I only used Nature & Bounty Tea Tree Oil today; however, that being said it seems one of my bumps and some redness is already going down within just a day of using it. The stuff is phenomenal and I wish I had it as a teenager.

Pros:

natural alternative to harsh on-the-spot treatments, works quickly, can apply it under makeup

Cons:

REALLY dries out the skin if you over apply. i've had some really nasty peeling, but i blame myself for those times, not the oil

this stuff is great. it's "oil" but it does wonders for drying out pimples. you only need a little bit, but if you keep applying "a little bit" for several days or more than once a day, your skin will probably peel. but i especially love this stuff because you can wear it under your makeup. if i wake up with a pimple and i don't want it to get any bigger, i dab a bit of this stuff on, let it dry for a minute or two, and apply my makeup. it's really great.

Pros:

smells good because of the minty smell, very effective, soothing, doesnt dry skin(I dont know to others because my face is oily) and it lessens oiliness of the face

Cons:

the effect is not very fast

Since I started my college years, I now get pimples, all over my cheeks and forehead, and it does affect my self esteem and my social life so that is why I decided to consult from a dermatologist. I went to the dermatologist to ask if what can I use to get rid of my pimples, and she recommended her soap which contains tea tree oil, at the 1st day, I saw that my pimples are starting to subside, after 3 days, my pimples on my both cheeks are gone and in the 5th day, my pimples on my forehead are now starting to lessen and I do not get new pimple since I started using this tea tree soap. Now, Im happy that my face is clearer yet, the pimple marks are still there but in time, everything will back to normal.

Pros:

I have only just started to use tea tree oil. It feels great and light, it doesn't hurt the skin and already my skin feels lighter and less greasy.

Cons:

Burns if you get it in your eyes:(, but you'd hae to be stupid like me to manage to.

I use 4-5 drops of 100% tea tree oil in a pump spray bottle mixed with 50ml of distilled (sterile) water, and wash my face with an organic tea tree oil soap, and spray that on afterwards. To close the pores i use Avene water spray (also sterile). This works really well, it feels light and smells, in my opinion, really good. Avene spray is amazing, it dries spots out and cools your face down without the need for you to touch the infected areas. Overall i think it is great. I also drink hot water and lemon twice a day before i eat or drink anything. After an age, trying every different skin care regime ( clinique, clearasil, olive oil, acne.org, dermalogica), this seems to really work. You MUST try this.

Pros:

Cleared up the majority of stubborn pimples and stops new ones from forming.

Cons:

Smells a little strange, but it's kinda nice smelling once you get used to it. It can react strongly with your skin at first. Stings a bit in the beginning.

I had my doubts, but this stuff has really worked for me. If you get 100% tea tree oil, which I recommend, be sure to get a damp tissue and then apply. Do NOT apply full strength directly to your face, it will burn, trust me. But my mild scars are starting to fade, and my acne is definitely clearing up!

Pros:

Natural and safer, milder than BP, stops cystic acne from blwoing out of proportion, heals spots

Cons:

No dramatic results. You have to be patient

I started doind the BP regimen but my skin just cannot cope with 2x applciation of BP. Mt skin was dry and peeling and looking unhealthy. I decided to maintain my nightly BP routine but looked for an alternative for my AM regimen. I mix this with aloe vera then 2 frops of 100% TTO from Thrusday Plantation. It heals spots pretty quickly and prevents cycstic acne from becoming monster-sized. No, it doesn't heal cyuctic acne in one day but it does heal it slowly from within. I'm not totally clear yet but I have hope on this product. It definitely made my skin healthier and smoother and matte. It is worth a try and its natural. For long term use, I'd rather stick to this than BP as I cannot imagine putting that on my face for years to come. It sucks having adult acne all of a sudden at 29, it caught me totally bu surprise and it went bad really quickly. Hopefully TTO can give me my clear, healthy skin back, slowly but surely.
