It's better than others.
Oh gosh, where do I begin? I've had awful acne for about 6 years now, since high school. I've tried everything from dermatologist prescribed gels and creams including Retin A, oral medication including Accutane (twice now), and the over the counter stuff you buy from the store. Accutane works to an extent for about 6 months after I end the 6 month treatment, but then slowly comes back to how it was again. I've had Tea Tree Oil in my medicine cabinet for years, but just haven't gotten into the habit of using it until recently. With that said, it doesn't prevent acne but it does help calm and reduce new breakouts and irritations, which at this point I am okay with even just that. Cysts it doesn't do much for as they are so deep, but I've noticed it at least minimizes the appearance and longevity of pimples and white heads. Sigh. I thought I'd be done with Acne by now, in my mid twenties but it seems like the never ending body annoyance I've just learned to deal with. I use Burts Bees Acne Cleanser to wash my face, apply Tea Tree Oil, and then once that dries I switch off between applying a thin layer of either Burts Bees Acne Facial Lotion to prevent dryness or Bio Oil to hopefully minimize scars and prevent any new ones. I definitely recommend it, but everyone is different.

Pros:

*Dried out zit
*Redness reduced
*Drew out impurities
*Tingly feeling
*Semi-fast absorption

Cons:

*the smell is strong, my room smells of it for days and i only use a little!
*a little drying, can be combated with good mostiurizer/egg white mask & egg yolk masks
* so expensive for such a small bottle :(

I've suffered acne since 4th grade and although it has been improving through the years, this is definitely helping during those extreme breakout periods I have INCREDIBLY dry skin (thanks eczema -.-) and acne products that work on my skin just dry me out like a desert, i'm talking scales and dry patches for WEEKS maybe MONTHS during the winter/ early spring after reading the reviews on here, i popped into my local rite aid and bought 100% tea tree oil. all i can say is WOW. after a few HOURS my HUGE zits reduced in size and my zits that were already healing VANISHED. it is KEY though that you dilute the oil if you're going to use it on the ENTIRE face, especially if you have dry skin like me. but as a spot treatment it is fine oh gosh the smell -.- it is an incredibly high smelling menthol smell!! the first time i opened the bottle a slew of vulgarities came out of my mouth lol. the smell is so strong that my room smells like it for days so make sure you open a window or are in a well ventilated area my regime is just a basic wash with purpose soap followed up by bio oil (AMAZING ON MARKS!!!) if i have a really bad skin week, i spot treat with tea tree and during a chill day, take one egg white add a little tea tree and whisk until frothy then apply to my face and harden. rinse it off and then follow up with egg yolk applied to face and let it harden. wash off with warm water THEN cold water. BEFORE ANY MASK i steam my face with salt water, really opens up the pores hope this helps!!!

Pros:

Dries up acne / kills it
Can use all over or as a spot treatment
Reduces inflammation
Natural
No Free Radical Damage

Cons:

If applied in undiluted form, it may cause dryness and/or a burning sensation.

This is the one and the ONLY thing that has been kind to my skin and has truly been clearing me up! Initially I only applied the diluted form all over my face morning and night, but once I saw the results, I decided to use the pure form as a spot treatment in between my morning/night treatments. Altogether I do 3-4 tea tree oil treatments a day (I'm sending my acne on a well deserved boot-camp >:-3) and have never ever seen my face respond so positively. If I feel dry after I do my treatments, I just apply olive oil/Aloe Vera to my skin and the problem is more than solved. Altogether, within two (2) days, most of my acne is gone, and the rest are shriveling away!

Pros:

Eliminates mild acne
Smoother skin
Inexpensive

Cons:

None
Some people don't like the smell, but I love it.

For three years, I've been trying so hard to get rid of my acne, but almost nothing has helped. but now, I've been using a tea tree facial scrub and cleanser from The Body Shop for about two weeks now. At first my skin broke out, but now it's clearer than it's been in years. It's still getting clearer everyday. I just use a foaming cleanser in the morning and night, and the facial scrub twice a week. It's almost like magic. Whenever I talk to someone who doesn't like their skin, i ALWAYS recommend the tea tree skincare line from The Body Shop. It's soooo amazing. I wouldn't recommend it, though, if you have really dry skin. If you do - just make sure you moisturize like crazy.

Pros:

So far so good. I've replaced benzoyl peroxide with tea tree oil in my regimen since tea tree oil has anti-cancer effects as well.

Cons:

Smell, but it dissipates quickly.
Allergic reactions to it seem to be common. My friend is allergic to it.

If you break out in hives or redness, discontinue use. You are most likely allergic to it. I dilute the tea tree oil with jojoba oil (which is also very good for acne prone skin) making a 5% TTO solution. I rub a few drops in every morning. I use it in conjunction with Retin-A and fish oil supplements. After 10 years of acne, I finally I have a treatment down that doesn't include birth control pills. You can find it for $8/2oz at Walmart, and this will go a very long way. Check out [link removed] for research abstracts done on tea tree oil or any other treatment you are interested in.

Pros:

It makes a great toner, the TTO feels good and really works!

Cons:

Can dry skin out.. make sure to moisturize! I put it on a cotton ball and apply to slightly damp skin after cleansing [the skin being slightly damp allows it to be applied undiluted], I let it sit for 5-10 min, rinse then apply a honey mask, let sit, rinse and moisturize. [I do this twice a day]

This is a great product! I have been dealing with acne for way too many years and love TTO, I started it almost a year ago and my skin has cleared up a lot, another great product is apple cider vinegar [I tried it before the TTO and it worked pretty well, but TTO works the best]. Although my skin isn't completely clear, it is doing a lot better than it was before I started using TTO and only gets really annoying around that time of the month [which I have noticed taking aleve a day or two before menstruation, during, and a couple days after really helps] For me, the bottom line is get it!

Pros:

clears skin QUICKLY! very very quickly. stops any new acne from forming. less oily skin

Cons:

smells funny. WILL cause dryness if over-applied.

I noticed results RIGHT AWAY. by the second day, all my previously existing acne had disappeared and no new acne had formed. I can't believe I've never tried this before last week. My skin now looks clear and all dark spots have faded. My skin looks healthy! I add 3 drops of the oil to about 30 ml of water. DO NOT ADD MUCH MORE THAN THAT. it will dry out your skin if you over apply. sometimes, i mix a few drops in with my cleanser in the morning. at night, i wash with a cleanser, then steam my face for 5 mins, then gently rub the diluted TTO to my face and let it sit for a few mins. then rinse and pat dry. NO MORE THAN 2X PER DAY! very powerful stuff.

cant live without
This is really amazing for hormonal, cystic acne. Having PCOS makes finding products for your skin super aggravating. This has made such a difference in my skin since starting. I get mine from the Body Shop, usually when its on sale. This works great if you're allergic to benzoyl peroxide or if bp did not work. BP breaks me out so bad. Tree oil has the same purpose and its all natural, so you know exactly whats going on your skin. This also leaves my skin feeling matte and not gross and oily. I use like 2-3 drops and press it into my skin (pretty much my entire face). This also works great in preventing acne as well.

Totally agree about TTO benefits for Cystic Acne. Not sure I would recommend it as a prevention method as it could be too harsh on "normal," unaffected skin. Everyone is different, therefore as we all know, trial and error is the gauntlet all acne sufferers must run.

Classic spot treatment
I imagine this as spot treatment for acne back in the Stone Age. It's antiseptic, anti fungal and anti inflammation, but you probably already know that if you've done your research. I get cystic acne on my jaw and chin area. Those bumps don't heal quick. I can catch it early and put ice and bp on it but it's not gonna do anything. Teat tree oil however , reduces the swelling and redness in hours. The smell is strong but I get used to it. I don't dilute it with anything because my skin is tough. Try it diluted at first if you don't feel anything , use it straight up. Everyone's skin is so different. I have tough skin but my skin can't take clarisonic. Go figure. Good luck !
