Pros:

-clears up acne (even cystic acne)
-is cheap (less cheap for me cuz I don't have insurance)
-only needs to be applied overnight

Cons:

-i found stievamycin regular very drying and it made my skin flaky
(stievamycin forte is much better and doesn't make skin flaky)
-takes 6-8 weeks before you see any real improvement

Do not use oil/heavy day creams - during the day, apply an oil-free moisturizer (i use alba organics oil-free moisturizer). I use alba's ph balanced cleanser and a kosmea cloth to gently exfoliate and my skin has improved considerably! I use to have really painful cystic acne but now i only have 1 or 2 active pimples and the marks have faded alot! apply every night, eat well, wash your hands before touching your skin and you should be on your way to beautiful skin once again~!

Pros:

* my pimples are gone, only to be replaced by a BIG, RED PATCH OF FLAKY SKIN on my forehead..
* very easy to apply
* is not greasy; does not leave my fingers sticky after applying

Cons:

* it literally BURNED my old skin away for new skin to grow
* feels tight after aplying
* very noticeable redness and flakiness, not to mention rough skin.

I already posted on June 29 however, after using Stievamycin for about two months now (inconsistently), my opinions have changed. I haven't been using this product every night like I'm supposed to mainly because I can't stand looking in the mirror to a big ugly red forehead. The trick to using this is by applying a *oil-free* moisturizer during the daytime - one that works really well is Clinique's Moisture Surge Extra Thirsty Skin Relief. It penetrates into your skin and provides you with soft skin. You can also use an exfoliator once a week to replenish skin cells. This definitely works to BURN off your pimples, but these are the side effects. Oh, and I wouldn't use it everyday consistenly especially if you have sensitive skin unless you want big red blotches..

Pros:

next best to accutane
will prevent new occurance
helps attack existing breakouts

Cons:

sun sensitivity
will still get acne but 25% of what I would with no treatment

I use the strongest strength - I tried everything incl accutane and accutane worked almost for 4-5 years .. then I strted breaking out again and I started accutane again but quit after 2 months as you need 4 to 6 months on it - after the 2 months and after I quit accuatane I started to break out again, badly - but I will avoid accutane due to side effects if stievamycin makes it managable - Ive been on 2 months and Im reasonably happy but I still usually walk around with a couple of 'doozies' on my face - where there is no acne, the skin and face look really fresh and alive but you must use the product in the areas you are susceptable to acne not just where and when you get the breakouts - Im slightly resigned that I may have to go back on accutane for the 6 months but if can avoid it I will - if I use nothing have bad cyctic acne - Im a 37 year old male - when it works, I am a looker - HAHA

Pros:

seems to get acne under control

Cons:

makes u'r skin very flaky

i'm 22 and I've had to deal with pimples all my life...last year, i started using my mom's hydrocortisone and it made my skin beautiful, i didn't need to use any make-up. Suddenly, i broke out with severe cystic acne and NOTHING WORKED. My derm told me that i HAVE TO GO ON ACCUTANE, but becuz i had a planned vacation to southasia, he said i can start when i get back. When I came back, i still didn't want to go on Accutane becuz of all the scary stories i read, so I tried Smoothbeam ($500/session), i had two sessions and it DIDN'T WORK AT ALL. I then started self-diagnosing my self and learned that I had steroid acne (because of the hydrocortisone cream) and I had too much yeast on my skin. SO i started using NIZORAL as a facewash (read on steroid user's forumn) and Stievamycin and my FACE IS SO MUCH BETTER. Its been about a month since i started this regimen, and i won't say that its all gone, but CERTAINLY much much better!

Pros:

Really seems to have started working right away, though maybe that's a coincidence. I'm thrilled. I use the mild every night and will go up to the regular after a while.

Cons:

Really no problem. A little flakiness on spots that are healing. I use mostly on oily parts (so, not cheeks or forehead).

I cannot believe my derm never told me about this and was going to let me go on Accutane (again) without trying this. My family dr., who uses it herself, prescribed it. I am very hopeful that it will clear up even my cystic acne, and I will be glad to use it for the rest of my life.

My doctor gave a sample to try. I have developed quite a lovely bunch of pimples only on my forehead in the last 3 months. This is only my third day with it. I read that a lot of people are experiencing with a burning sensation and my doctor warned me about that too, but I don't feel anything at all. When I stretch my skin looking up, it feels tight but otherwise, all is well. My forehead starts to flake a little but after I rinse it off, it's gone. I don't apply a moisturizer during the day, because I am hoping to dry the area out. The rest of my face is really dry though because I have photosensitivity. I will look for a moisturizer that can help my dry cheeks and oily forehead. I don't see a difference yet, but I'll be patient. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Pros:

It works for me! It helped me clear up my severe acne.

Cons:

Redness
Dryness
Makes your skin look shiny

I had severe cyst-like acne about 7 years ago and I tried a lot of different acne fighting products. But none of them worked. My acne was so bad that a doctor suggested that I take Accutane. But since I am quite anti-pill, and the side effects to the med seemed endless, a doctor recommended stievamycin since his son had used it and it worked for him. The results were amazing. Within a year, my acne had cleared up by 90%. My t-zone area, which use to be covered with ugly, red pimples, now looked like it was under control. A couple years later, people were even complimenting me and asked me how my skin was so clear! Today, I still use it and my skin remains under control. When I dont apply it for a few days, my skin actually breaks out more. I still do get break-outs even with usage but they are far less often. I would rather have my 3-4 pimples than my 90-100 7 years ago! I definitely recommend it. It has changed my life!

Pros:

Helps with acne
Helps with blemishes
Only use at night
Easy to apply

Cons:

Quite drying
Really sticks to your face
Takes a while to see results

This product has been working well for me so far! I love how you just use it at night time before going to sleep. I really see a difference in my acne. It does take a long time to start seeing results but i recommend to keep going with it! I noticed once i started using it no new acne was forming and i have yet to have a new once. I have been using this product for about 4months and my skin isnt completely clear of blemishes but i can definatly notice a difference! Overall happy with this!
