Pros:

Smoother completion
Tighter pores

Cons:

Makes skin sensitive
Burns a bit upon application

I don't generally get pimples, but my derm prescribed me this a year ago for oil control. However, I stopped using it after my first tube ran out because it became ineffective after using it for a couple months. A week ago I decided to go pick up the second tube in my prescription since i was getting desperate for a solution for my huge pores (which wasn't as big of an issue when I first used this product). I have only been using it a week, about 2-3 times a day, but the pores on my cheeks have already decreased in size SO much. With a bit of makeup, they're hardly even noticeable anymore. I still have to blot the oil off of my face every few hours as well as having to deal with flaky skin around my mouth, but id rather have that than the awful texture i had before! I'm really hoping it continues to work as well as it is, because for the first time in ages i can actually look in the mirror and be happy with what i see.

Pros:

Works moderately well. Progress is slow, but noticeable. Does not irritate skin or cause any itch or pain. Doesn't leave skin feeling oily the next morning like clindoxyl gel, the other product I tried. Quite cheap.

Cons:

Dries out skin, but an average moisturizer fixes that easily enough.

You must use it constantly to avoid setbacks. Works better than clindoxyl gel. Progress isn't what I hoped for, though. Still not close to getting rid of my acne altogether.

Pros:

clears up skin pretty well

Cons:

takes a while to work. burning, redness, dryness and peeling may occur while using it, but is not severe.

must use consistently. don't use cover up or any other moisturizers or skin products on affected area(s). this makes skin worse and makes progress slower. (says on instructions)

Pros:

- Gets rid of your acne!!
- Use at bedtime so you don't have to walk around with gel all over your face :P
- Clear gel so you can't see it on your face

Cons:

- Makes your skin dry and occasionally flaky
- Sometimes burns (I only found that it burned in the first month after that it never hurt my face)
- Makes your acne worse before it gets better

This product actually works!! It takes a while to see results though so hang in there. To get rid of the flakes use a gentle exfoliate no more than three times a week because if you over use it, the exfoliate could irritate your skin more. If you don't have one use baking soda and put a small amount into your daily cleanser because that works just as good, maybe even better than a regular exfoliant. Make sure to wait the 30 minutes after washing your face to put it on because it does make a difference. Also use a really good oil-free moisturizer, I use the new Day and Night moisturizer from Clean and Clear and they work SO well. I've used this product for like 3 months now and I'm acne free. Good luck!

Pros:

minimizes acne in 1 application
paid by insurance

Cons:

doesn't wash off easily

I have been using this product for a week. I asked my doctor to prescribe me this after reading the reviews here. He gave me regular strength and it works very well. I don't have any burning feeling at all. I burn more with OTC pimple clearing gel like clean & clear blemish treatment. It peels off but it's not that ugly. I get a breakout at night , i apply it the same night and by morning my pimple is smaller and not painful. I am using this product along with minocyn antibiotics. My pharmacist says that my face will get worse before it gets better. The fact that i have Stievamycin to make the breakouts less painful is awesome. I'll be waiting for a month to see how well it works together.

Pros:

I've been on it for about 3 months now... people say that my skin is clearing up, but I don't really see it

Cons:

Takes a while to work

My dermatologist said that Stievamycin is the topical form of Accutane. I think it works best for people with oily skin and clogged pores. I've been told it is supposed to shrink the size of your pores and heal scars. I used the mild form of it in the fall, but I didn't like the feeling of it so I rarely used it (bad choice). I was put on the regular strength in January. I learned that using harsh cleansers (which are actually everywhere) make your skin produce more oil, so I'm using Spectro Jel for Oily Skin. Although your skin does not feel clean, it is actually slowly reducing the amount of oil your skin produces. Stievamycin doesn't really irritate my skin, so I'll keep on using it until my dermatologist tells me not to.

Pros:

Clears up acne
Helps with scarring
Only have to put on at night
Lasts for about 3-4 months

Cons:

Dryness
Takes about 5 months to see a difference
Must use on a consistent basis in the beginning of treatment

I really like this product, I just to have a couple pimples here and there but one day it all took a wrong turn. Thus, my doctor prescribed me this. Took about 5 months for me to see a big difference, but I am really happy with the results. I only get a pimple around my period..other than that I just have some scarring left. But, the product also helps with scarring and I definitely see a difference. Give this product a chance!

Pros:

Been using for one week, not so many "pros" yet.

I have noticed slight improvements in certain problem areas after 1 week of use.

Cons:

Dries & tightens your skin but my skin adjusted after a few days. First application was rough though! Can be strong for sensitive skin.

Very important to wash the medication off in the morning.

I'm curious to see the results after the 30 days I was prescribed it for. So Far, I don't notice any severe improvements but it is slightly & slowly working.it does bring out more blemishes in the beginning but I was warned about that from the pharmacist. My doctor said I should never put anything white (cream, lotion, moisturizer) on my face because I have oily skin and it blocks your pores. He said gel lotions are the way to go. This was news to me because I've been using lotion on my face all my life with no problems, weird. I've never suffered from acne besides the odd pimple here and there so I'm apparently going through adult acne, I'm 29. It's annoying! Started about 6 months ago. I'm only sharing all these details because I'm interested to see ff anyone on this board has just got acne in there adult years? I'd love to hear from you about any solutions or advice. thanks kindly!

Pros:

Every time I feel like I am getting a new pimple I apply it and it disappears, as magic I think this is finally working!!!

Cons:

Dry Skin

I have had moderate to severe acne for the last 8 months, I ve tried everything my dermatologist told me to go into Acutane. But I was frightened so I went to another one and she told me to apply this Stievamycin. Its kind of working but I will tell you more in a few weeks

Pros:

works. it cleared up my acne

Cons:

took a long time to work. the first couple of months were terrible -- more break outs, but after that, it started working

it takes a long time to work, so you've got to have patience occassionally i still get breakouts, but it definitely works persistence, that's all it takes, apply every day, don't skip it, and it'll work
