Pros:

Keeps my acne under control, regulates periods, dont get pregnant :)

Cons:

I have noticed I've been getting a lot of headaches around my period, and my appetite is a bit up and down, sometimes I'm really hungry sometimes I don't want to eat at all. I am also very depressed. I don't know if these are related though.

I had possibly the world's worst acne until I went on Dianette which was a miracle, I changed to Yasmin about 6 months ago and my skin hasn't really changed much, so I assume its doing pretty much the same job. I have had some problems with headaches, appetite and depression, but I am predisposed to depression anyway and I have moved to a new country so there are several other factors. Basically I KNOW if I come off Yasmin I will be back to the TERRIBLE skin I used to have, so I'm sticking with it!! It does appear to be different for other people though, so it depends on the person. Works GREAT for me though.

Pros:

Prevents pregnancy, acne, and moodiness. Shorter, easier periods!!!

Cons:

Decreased Libido. Nausea when I first started taking it for a couple weeks.

I used this product for the first year of my marriage. It was wonderful as far as preventing pregnancy, and making my periods a lot shorter and lighter as well as drastically decreasing my cramps, and moodiness. I didn't gain any weight while on it either. I had some nausea for about the first 3 weeks, but nothing terrible. The only downfall, was the fact that I noticed my libido wasn't as strong, but that may have been due to other health issues and other medication for breathing problems. With insurance I paid $30.00. After a year I switched to a different generic BC pill and only paid $5.00 And it was just as good.

Pros:

Yasmin has been great at preventing pregnancy. It also has completely cleared up my skin...I used to have acne all over my face, but I don't have any since taking Yasmin!!

Cons:

A little expensive for me, but it will depend on your insurance. I switched to the generic form and it works exactly the same for me! So, that has helped save some money.

Try it! It might take some time to find the right birth control pill for you, but Yasmin is worth trying, especially if you are currently suffering from acne.

Pros:

Definitely cleared up my acne after 6 months of use. No pregnancies!!! Relatively inexpensive. Lighter, 3 day periods!!!

Cons:

Some depression at first, but that faded. Some breast pain, like when you get your period.

I got on Yasmin because I was desperate for an acne solution, and heard that progesterone could help. I had tried Ortho Tri- Cyclen, but that didn't work. Pro-Active, and other acne treatments made my skin worse. So, I vowed to try Yasmin for a year and if it didn't work I'd just give up. After 6 mos. my skin was sooo much better, and I was sooo much happier. My periods even got lighter, and used to last 7 days, and then only 3 days. Also I wasn't worried about getting pregnant, which was a plus since I was really only using Yasmin for my acne. After a year my skin was almost completely clear...but then my insurance changed and wouldn't cover it anymore..so since my skin was clear I just went off of it. After 3 months I started breaking out again, annnd getting lots of abcesses. After about 6 mos. of not being on Yasmin my skin is totally back to crappy acne take over. So, I just decided I'm going to pay $66 a month for it..it'll be worth it to me, if I can have clear skin again.

Pros:

Face and back cleared up entirely, no weight gain or increased appetite, but I did fill out up top a little more (nothing major though). Shorter lighter periods are nice as well.

Cons:

I was a little nauseous & my face broke out some the first week I started taking Yasmin. Also, my insurance doesn't want to cover any more refills after the first three, so I'm having to pay full price right now.

Aside from my insurance not preferring Yasmin, I absolutely love it. But stick with it for at least three months, that's about how long it before I started seeing major results. I had a mean case of cystic acne before and I still had to have some cysts drained while I first started taking Yasmin, but I'm almost five months into it & haven't had a problem for about 2 months. Now, I rarely have any zits. I haven't had any cysts in a while, which is amazing! And I don't break out before my periods anymore. I can go out without makeup, which I've never been able to do. I use Cetaphil & Benzaclin at night as well, and it works perfectly for me. My advice: just stick with it for a few months. There were some times where I was discouraged & thought it wasn't working, but just give it some time.
